To keep you in the loop: I've been visiting in some form with a friend (chat, email, text, phone) a lot and for a decent span of time. Well, it culminated on Tuesday evening with a proposal from him. And yes, I accepted. Once I'm sure he's told all his family, then you'll know more details. We will live in Amarillo so I can keep working at ADB.

Wishing you much joy, love from a warm heart, and eternal happiness. Plus an Oxford comma :)

Is he a player, Jean? I mean in the form of a gamer, not the other interpretation . . . oh heck, the armor I wear is wearing orange more than normal but I still try to glean the shine it once held. Be careful . . . he may actually be after your mind.

By Jean Sexton (Jsexton) on Friday, October 04, 2019 - 02:48 pm: Edit

He is indeed a gamer and a fan of SF. :)

(rubs polishing cloth across armor)

There. All shiny again. :)

Let me tell you about Al Beddow. He currently lives in Spokane, Washington, but is working on moving here to Amarillo. He is a gamer and loves many of the same science fiction books, television shows, and movies that I do. He is far more experienced in running a group of people who do demos than I am -- in fact, that is how we started talking more than a year ago. And he knows far more about fandom than I.

He is retired military and has forgotten more about computers and electronics than I know. :) He gave me a workaround that has kept my laptop operational far longer than I expected. And he is so clear sighted about so much of the wider world. And he loves to drive his truck probably as much as I love to ride in one.

He is so concerned with my well being. He notices when I am getting tired and sends me off to bed, makes sure I take meds when I need them (such as cough drops), and goes out of his way to lift my spirits when I am down. He reminds me to get off my rear and walk, even when we would both rather sit and talk.

And he is the man that I love and that I shall marry.

Jean, I think I speak for everyone here...all we care about is that he treats you with all the great kindness, love, and respect that you certainly deserve!!

By Terry O'Carroll (Terryoc) on Sunday, October 06, 2019 - 11:24 am: Edit

Well, when Al gets here you both can go for walks and talk at the same time. That will be much more time efficient.

Congratulations, Jean. :)

The Blog does not appear to have been updated since Monday, August 26, 2019, is this intentional, accidental, or do I have an issue on my end?

Jean mentioned to me that very few people were reading it but I said I wanted to keep it going for now.

By A. David Merritt (Adm) on Monday, October 14, 2019 - 07:32 pm: Edit

Ah, ok. I thought it may have been on pause while you were on vacation, and Jean was ill.

By Steve Cole (Stevecole) on Friday, October 25, 2019 - 01:10 am: Edit

Jean got her rings and marriage license today.

I heard a rumor that they might take a shot at asking a judge to waive the three day wait and get married tomorrow, last chance before Al flies home.

They found a house to buy but the building inspector report said it had $150,000 in needed repairs.

By Steve Cole (Stevecole) on Friday, October 25, 2019 - 03:02 pm: Edit

Nope, no judge available to sign waiver, wedding in November sometime.

By Jean Sexton (Jsexton) on Friday, October 25, 2019 - 05:23 pm: Edit

Wedding is in November when Al manages to make it back to Amarillo. :)

By Scott Tenhoff (Scottt) on Friday, October 25, 2019 - 05:31 pm: Edit

That gives SVC and SPP plenty of time to polish/chrome their shotguns...

By Steve Zamboni (Szamboni) on Friday, October 25, 2019 - 05:34 pm: Edit

I'm sure there's enough of us in the Northwest that we could crate him up and ship him back relatively swiftly. (Memo: air holes.)

By A. David Merritt (Adm) on Saturday, October 26, 2019 - 12:09 am: Edit

Not too big on the air holes, we want him alive, but not kicking.

By Steve Cole (Stevecole) on Friday, November 15, 2019 - 05:29 am: Edit

Spambot in real world military , 5:11 this morning.

By Jean Sexton (Jsexton) on Friday, November 15, 2019 - 03:47 pm: Edit

Hmmm... some changes. Al and I have moved the marriage date to March when he should be here long-term. He is moving to Texas officially in December, although he has to visit Spokane to close up stuff there.

We are looking at a house in Amarillo that will have plenty of room for gaming and my books. We should know something shortly.
