Thursday MAY 6th 2021
My leg was sore after I did my morning one-mile walk but I could still work. Walking, not so much. I taught a class on bariatrics in the evening after work.
I started the day doing the Romulan art for the ACTASFR1 book since doing graphics is fun and gives me peace of mind.
Then I did my Email. Will was very nice and sent me all of the missing Fed and Klingon art.
I sent FCOL the WYN CWE and Vudar CWE.
I met Jean and Al for lunch and discussed her progress on the ACTASFR1 proofreading. We discussed how to get the Fed DD into a book that has no space to add it and finally decided to put it in the newsletter. Jean added restrictions to the Powerista in ACTASFR1.
I had to stop everything and shuffle all of the Shapeways art from this year into the file of the art from all previous years and figure out what ships I needed.

Friday MAY 7th 2021
My leg was only slightly sore and did not interfere with my work.
I did the Kzinti art for the ACTASFR1 book and asked Zamboni for missing ships. I did the Gorn ships that I could and asked Zamboni for the missing ones (which was most of them). I did what Tholian ships I could and sent Zamboni a list of the four I needed. I did the Orion and WYN art I had and asked Chris for the missing bits. I sent a note to Matt Lawson reminding him I need Seltorian X-ships, and to Steve Zamboni that I needed the whole Juggernaut fleet.
I sent FCOL the Fed NSC and Gorn HDS that I had done that morning.

Sunday MAY 9th 2021
My leg hurt, but despite that I patched the hole in the wall the plumber made, repaired the lawn furniture by replacing the cloth parts the hail storm destroyed with wooden planks (for the cushions to sit on), and caulked the cold air leak in the kitchen window. I also cut up some more firewood for the widow down the street.
Monday, I sent FCOL the LDR CWS.

Monday MAY 10th 2021
My leg hurts a LOT, but I’m here. When it bumps into something, I scream and get really cranky with people around me about inconsequential matters.
Somebody asked me how to send a huge "historical" document I didn’t ask him to create. I told him not to use docx, but that txt, rtf, or doc should work. I also told him that huge historical documents should not be done without asking first if we even want them, and second without asking for the specific requirements (sources must be listed for all data; anything new created must be marked as such and justified and since these may be rejected the author should get them cleared before basing subsequent creations on the assumption of approval).
ACTASFR1: I worked on fixing Jean’s proofreading, getting to page 16
I sent FCOL the Tholian DDS and Hydran CWS.
Leanna said all I did around the house Sunday was fine but that what she actually wanted done was for me to break down the empty amazon boxes in the garage and put them in the dumpster, so I took a few minutes to do that.

Tuesday MAY 11th 2021
My leg is sore but not enough to stop me from working. Whenever I get up, it takes me a few steps to walk normally.
STAFF MEETING: Stratcon, Jean’s trip, SFBF cards, ACTASFR1 schedule, PDF releases, newsletter.
Newsletter: I got the two extras ready for Jean to review.
I sent FCOL the ground bases from Reinforcements in various formats. They asked me to modify the format and resend them, so I sent them the Lyran and LDR LTTs and put the bases on tomorrow’s to do list. Preparing for the release of the existing interceptors on FCOL I made a list of the ones I need to add over the rest of this year.
ACTASFR1: I worked on Jean’s proofreading report (17-24). Jean and Tony continued to correct a bunch of glitches in point values.
The lawyer called with the final version of the COVID waiver needed for Stratcon.

Wednesday MAY 12th 2021
My leg is sore, like yesterday. Seems difficult to sit with the knee bent.
FCOL: I sent them the Kzinti LTT and Fed LTT. Chris N was nice enough to check all the cards I had sent and asked for corrections on half a dozen of them. I sent all but one (which I couldn’t find until they helped me locate it, so I sent that one).
ACTASFR1: I did the Klingon chapter, reaching page 38. Jean hasn’t gone past 92.

Friday MAY 14th 2021
My leg is sore, very sore, but pain or not, the job must be done.
FCOL: I sent them the Rom LTT and Hydran LM.
ACTASFR1: I continued to work on reformatting and placing the recently arrived art.
Newsletter: I sent Simone the last parts she needed. The extra this month is the Fed DE for both FC and ACTA. Also the baseline Fed DD for ACTA since the ship isn’t really worth printing in ACTASFR1 even though it is the nominal (if not the real) baseline hull. Will McC has graciously done the minis for both DD and DE for release on Shapeways in early June.
Mike West asked me to find the lost FC Klingon ePack #5. I found it and put it in line to be finished and uploaded this summer.

Monday MAY 17th 2021
My right leg was sore but I made it to work.
FCOL: I sent them the Tholian POL and the Andro ReconCobra. I prepped several more ships for later days.
ACTASFR1: I finished the corrections on the Romulans. I started on the Kzintis but it was slow going due to time to process, convert, request, and format the art. I stayed late to finish them as I needed to feel like I had accomplished something. Simone was due in tonight to do the cover but asked to be allowed to reschedule due to the bad storms.

Tuesday MAY 18th 2021
My right leg was sore but I made it to work even after spending an hour chainsawing logs.
FCOL: I sent them the Lyran and LDR police units.
ACTASFR1: I forgot to mention that when Jean left she gave me all of the rest of the proofreading for this product. When she gets back she will have to check the changes I have been making. I added notes about 7000-scale minis to each empire. I asked Steve Zamboni for a bunch of Kzinti art but he reminded me that he sent it two weeks ago (and I just lost the email). I got the art transferred and reformatted so it will work on a Mac and installed it, then moved on to work on the Gorns. I did the Gorns to the extent I could, but we were still missing some Shapeways info, Jean cited the MSSB for some changes she wanted, and we think two of the ships are partly or entirely mixed up (and we don’t know which). So, the Gorns aren’t really done until I get that. I then moved on and did the Tholians.

Wednesday MAY 19th 2021
My right leg was sore but I made it to work. (The injury is some strained muscles, not anything serious; thanks for the notes of concern!)
FCOL: I sent them the Andro Viper, Vudar Heavy Battlecruiser.
ACTASFR1: I did the Orion chapter before checking email so even if some crisis distracted me I would have a completed chapter to report. After email (no crisis) I worked on the WYN which Jean now thinks must be the WYNs. I moved on to do the Seltorians and then the FRAX. I started on the Juggernauts and finished them. I lack ten pages finishing this book but tomorrow is the COMPANY PICNIC when nothing will get done.

Thursday MAY 20th 2021
My right leg was sore and I made it to work only because it was Company Picnic day.
I got the sad word that Ray Olesen, one of five original staffers that made up "the committee" 35 years ago, had passed away suddenly and unexpectedly at age 64.
FCOL: I sent them the Gorn DNC and DNT.
ACTASFR1: I did the civilian stuff and the indexes and then hunted down the missing Gorn data so the book is complete. (Except for Jean checking the changes and finding more stuff to change. I am convinced that when she proofreads a book she keeps a few of the problems she finds on a secret list that she only tells me about after I fix the other stuff.) I even thought of something to put on the previously blank 122.

Friday MAY 21st 2021
My right leg was sore but staying home wouldn’t make it feel better. Perhaps because of the pain, the day went horribly wrong very quickly. First, my firewood plans for the next 3 days were trashed by Petrick’s prediction it would rain today which will leave the woodyard a sea of mud like the Russian rasputitsa. Then, I got the worst lunch that one of my favorite restaurants had ever served in their history, sending me back to my desk while still hungry, sore, tired, and increasingly cranky.
FCOL: I sent them the ISC DNH and DNL. They posted a list of 14 ships they had added this week.
ACTASFR1: I sent Tony another note about the problem of the Gorn DNM and DNC since his answer was to the earlier version which had changed. He said it would get to it this weekend which is soon enough.
IN RESPONSE to someone on the BBS asking for a Fed OSR 7000 mini I invented the ODD.

Worked on art for ACTASFR1. Made all of Jean’s second-round changes to ACTASFR1. Checked my work myself and corrected four things I missed. Ready for Jean’s final approval Tuesday.

Feeling better, I sent FCOL some ships (Lyran CAL, LDR CAL, Klingon B8, Santa’s Sleigh, Lyran CCX, Rom KE4R, Orion DWX).
Worked on art for ACTASFR1.

I was sick all day. Couldn’t even finish lunch. Jean delivered the check-change pages for ACTASFR1.

I had a doctor’s appointment which wiped out all of the afternoon. I did sent FCOL four ships (for Monday and Tuesday): Fed SC, Large Aux, corrected WYN PBB, Gorn DNB, Frax DWG.

My leg is sore but not bad. (That continued for the next week and then some.)
ACTA: I worked on rounding up the last art for ACTASFR1 and on Shapeways. Jean took home the pages to check and said it would be a priority.
Staff Meeting: Jean came by for a planning meeting and left with a box of company picnic loot.

Tuesday JUNE 1st 2021
FCOL: I sent them the Fed and Gorn commando cruisers.
F&E-Planetary Ops: I updated 100 and posted it. I did 320 stage 2 and posted that. I did 321 stage 2. I did 322 to stage 2. I did stage 2 for all of the 400 rules. I did Stage 1 for the 500 rules.
Shapeways: Wrote some ship descriptions.
ACTASFR1: Jean cleared the proofreading changes except for one item Steve Petrick had to resolve.
I used my chainsaw to cut up a log in the alley that somebody left there years ago.

Wednesday JUNE 2nd 2021
FCOL: I sent them two of the new Tholian police destroyers. I found two lost bonus ships they wanted and put them into the que for this week.
Shapeways: I approved a 7000-scale ISC convoy pack.
ACTASFR1: Steve Petrick cleared the FSP and I finished the product.
AFTER LUNCH I got a haircut and then went to a place to cut up some logs. I tripped and fell face first into a pile of trash and wrenched my right arm pretty bad. A dozen small cuts and scrapes and a bit of blood, but mostly just severe pain in the right arm. I thought I might lose the day’s work (or the week’s) but sore or not was back to work by 3pm.
F&E-PO: I completed Stage 2 of Section 500 and 600. I sent all the PO sections to the staff. I posted some instructions on the BBS on how to review things.

My right arm remains very sore. I cannot push, pull, or lift anything with that hand. I can type with difficulty so I came to work, and some progress is better than none.

F&E-CO: Chapters 100 + 300 + 400 + 500 reached State Two and were sent to the staff.
Shapeways: Wrote a description Jean needed.
ACTASFR1: Fixed a Shapeways reference Jean found.

Friday JUNE 4th 2021
Right arm returning to normal. I can type without difficulty but cannot pull, push, or lift anything heavier than a pen.
FCOL: I sent them the LDR MP and Lyran DND. Turned out they already had the LDR MP.
F&E-PO: It took hours but I rebuilt the scenario section 600 due to the outrageously confused formatting. It took minutes to do 700, 800, and 900.
Shapeways: Wrote a ship description for the ISC convoy and the Orion HWDX.
ACTASFR1: Nothing needed doing.

Sunday JUNE 6th 2021 (D-Day 1944)
Right wrist only slightly sore so I worked a rare sunday just because I want the warbook done. I have had some kind of email problem for the last week in that Will Mc and Mike West could not send me Email. Jean fixed it, but suddenly I cannot send email to them or anyone else. I called Jean to check on it and she said it must be my computer as there is nothing on the ISP website about an issue. JEAN FIXED IT! GO GIRL!
FCOL: I sent them the Frax CWS and Klingon B9.
F&E-Warbook: I took the time to whip myself up a chart showing which rule is in which product. Kudos to Ryan Opel for processing a lot of old posts in the product/chapter topics. I posted the plan by which we will get these books done quickly and correctly. We will still have print books for Stratcon attendees on the last day but Jean wants to demonize the books before they go on the PDF stores.
F&E-AO: I reformated 500 and posted it on the BBS. Then I did 617, the only scenario in this product. I did the 700 and 800 stuff which is mostly just references to website documents.

F&E-SO: I converted the format of the entire SO rulebook in one day, mostly because it was done in 2006 in a format closer to the one in use today. I sent it to the staff.
