One of the FC forum threads has been updated with a spam link

Zac's is dealt with.

Al Beddow just reported a spammer on the FC Forum. Topic deleted and IP blocked.

As a side note, even earlier in the thread Zac noted was another we also missed for years. It's now gone, too.

SVC: While it might not be possible (or at least not easy/cheap) to convert starfleetgames-dot-com to HTTPS, perhaps just look into finding all links that point to the Star Fleet Store and edit them to go directly to HTTPS link. There's one such link on the left side of the DISCUS board that "might" be a problem. The rest are outside DISCUS on the main page / sub-pages, so those should be relatively easy to find/replace.

We have one here in Rutherfordton NC, which has a waterline running under it....
The line has been broken by trucks, backhoes (loaded incorrectly on trailer) etc.....
They just finished running the waterline under the road next to the bridge...
Still haven't removed the unused piping.....

It definitely is NC thing. There is a similar low underpass next to the UNC-Greensboro campus, and I remember a news story from when I was there of a person that had to go to the hospital with burns after they drove their (not quite semi, maybe something like a large U-Haul type of van - it’s been 30 odd year) into it, but the height as just such that instead of the roof being peeled off, it wedged into it with such force the friction melted it in places.

Well, it was raised to 12'4" not long ago.

Apparently, there are enough low bridges in the US, there are lists of them. https://member.coach-net.com/members/pdfs/lowclearancebridgeinfo.pdf

Been watching videos of those type incidents for 50 years... News broadcasts, even before the internet and smartphones became a thing....

There is a reason most have their height on them...
The one I mentioned, at least has a ramp on and off... Thought not necessily because of that...

The truck rental companies near the 11-8+8 bridge in Durham NC have special contract clauses excluding the bridge from coverage.

Hmm, looking at the list Jean posted, I've been occasionally travelling under the 10'8" bridge on AL-53 in Ardmore for longer than I've had a driver's license, at least 50 years. It was on my parent's normal route to Nashville and points north, and is still on mine.

That one passes under a rail-road, so it's a fairly steep dip down to your low bridge.

Don't recall ever seeing or hearing of a wreck there and it's a fairly busy area.

There are two low bridges on the edges of my town, north and south, over two-lane roads, and the underpass is so narrow that some drivers will slow down to let an oncoming car get through before entering. Still, every few years we get a news story about a truck getting wedged into one or the other.

(The joke goes: There are two in the cab, the driver says, "I better turn off, the sign says no trucks over 11 feet." The other one says, "I don't see any police, let's run it.")

I've always been upfront about things in my life.

I need to tell you two things. First, my mother is in long-term care with dementia. She isn't doing well. When the time comes, I will go to North Carolina. Leanna has said she will deal with orders while I am gone.

Second, they found a mass during my mammogram. More imaging is required. I do not know the future on this.

I will keep you informed as these stories progress.

Jean:

You are not in the office and SVC just told me this so I had to come read the topic. I wish you the very best on this, which I know is not much, but as you will not be in the office tomorrow this is the best I can do. I have been aware of your mother's situation, and I am sorry it has progressed to this. She seemed a very nice lady when I met her, and there are times in life where nature is indeed at best heartless and cruel. I will keep you and her in my thoughts.

So sorry to hear this! Wishing you and your Mom all the best!

Not sure where in NC you will be, but I'm in Charlotte if there's anything I can do to help (ride from the airport, etc.).

Jean,

I will keep you and your mom in my thoughts and prayers.

I have someone very close to me who has dementia. So I know all about it (even though it is not always the same for everyone). From the loss of memory, to violent outbursts, to lack of appetite, to constant care, to health issues, and to the final stages. Dementia is a terrible thing for all involved.

I also know several people who have had breast cancer. Many identified it early and took measures to treat it. They are all doing fine now (although they have to be careful it does not come back). Stay positive and take each step one at a time.

We're all with you.

Jay, thank you so much for the offer. Mom lives in the northeastern corner of North Carolina. Al and I will probably drive there when the time is close. :) At least it is a straight shot across on I-40 to I-85 then over on 158.

My Mom has taken a turn for the worse. My brother is keeping me posted about the results of her emergency surgery this morning.
