Steve has finally been seen by his internal medicine specialist, who is running a bunch of tests. The first guess theory is that years of undiagnosed diabetes damaged his kidneys, caused his blood pressure to soar, and caused the strokes. The cataracts are a separate unrelated issue.

I will also continue to prayer for all. There will be some life style and medical issues to work through.

I see my endocrinologist quarterly and am tested for a bunch of things. Of course there medications to control the many issues related to diabetes, I have a small pharmacy at home.

Tuesday we got 90% of the stuff out of Steve's old apartment. We ran out of time and space in the vehicles and left the pile of "donate to the women's shelter" stuff there and will go pick it up and donate it tomorrow. The stuff he's keeping is now in the ADB warehouse for him to sort through this summer when his vision is better.

The doctor did say Tuesday that with his vision fixed by cataract surgery, if he applies himself to the physical therapy, he could just maybe get to something approaching a normal life in a regular apartment by the end of the summer.

Steve suffered a setback today and is back in the hospital with sepsis (blood poisoning, for the second time). I would guess it will mean a week of heavy duty antibiotics.

Steve Petrick had his first cataract surgery on Tuesday afternoon. I have to get up at 7am tomorrow to take him to a follow-up appointment, at which point we may learn if he can see.
