This morning they took the bandages off his left eye and in a few minutes he was able to read a normal size book without glasses.

Good to hear. Onwards and upwards, SVC :)

The only complications my Mum had with both her ops was they were November 2019 and February 2020 (in her mid 80s), which means she missed her 2nd opticians checkup due in late March due to the first UK Covid lockdown, by 2 days!

The opticians gave us heads up on the Friday that her appointment due on Tuesday might not happen, which they confirmed on the Monday! Was August before we got the all clear, although the hospital had said any complications, contact them immediately.

Been fine since then. :) :)

With his vision restored in one eye (so far) Steve has been able to dial his phone and call people. He has also been able to change the channel on his TV which cured his magafoxia nervosa syndrome.

Wait!?! What!

(Trying to translate...)

Do you mean that Petrick had a nervous break down every time [a president's] image appeared on Fox News?

Wow.

"magafoxia nervosa syndrome."

I expect Megan Fox has an effect on many people...

Sigh, if I have to explain the joke, it wasn't funny, but for the sake of the cyber-archaeologist who tries to understand this in 2245...

About 30 years ago the medical condition anorexia nervosa was in the news because some Hollywood actress had it. The syndrome was that she threw up everything she ate in a bid to stay slender for her career.

Comedy shows then began to invent new (phony) diseases for their skits, one being pseudosopia nervosa, caused by watching DAYS OF OUR LIVES too much.

When I was visiting Steve one time he remarked that he had the ladies at the nursing home set his TV on Fox News but he couldn't see well enough to change the channel, only to turn the set on and off. I remarked to the nice lady there that she could switch it to CNN every third day so he wouldn't get sick watching too much FOX. She asked what sickness that would be and on the spur of the moment I quipped "maga-foxia-nervosa" which became something of a running gag at the nursing home since there are a half dozen old men there all of whom watch Fox 12 hours a day for the lack of anything else to do.

Obviously, "maga" refers to the campaign slogan, although the white house recently classified it as a mental disorder which means I was right before they were.
