SUNDAY 1 JAN 2023
A day of non-work. I rested and did a few things around the house.

MONDAY 2 JAN 2023
Officially the office was closed for the New Year's Day holiday. I cooked ham and eggs breakfast for Leanna; Odin got half of it. I snuck into the office long enough to make the fixes to the gunboat cards and try (and fail) to find my copy of C3A to do the Adder. I took Leanna out to dinner and we discussed our plans for 2023.

TUESDAY 3 JAN 2023
We had a major staff meeting to update and complete the four different "lists of things SVC needs to do" so I can be sure to do at least one thing from each list each day. (The four lists are SVC errands, SPP errands, game design, running the company.) I told the staff that they could give me all the input they wanted over which item needed to be done next but that they were to stop pestering me about low-priority items that I set aside so I can do high-priority items.
GAME DESIGN LIST: After Mike Sparks (the warehouse guy) showed me a copy of C3A and I knew what to look for, I found my copy of C3A and did the Adder. Steve Petrick checked all 16 gunboats and I sent them to Mike West for the next round of checks.
Tony Thomas sent me the fixes for ACTA REINFORCMENTS ONE so I scheduled tomorrow to get that done, giving Mike an extra day on the gunboat cards.
Steve P worked on Module R1. I did the five scenario graphics and put them on his desk for him to check tomorrow.
SPP ERRAND LIST: I arranged to get one thing done and another started for Steve P's errand list.
SVC ERRAND LIST: I got something ready but forgot and left it on the conference table instead of actually doing it.
RUNNING ADB LIST: I called the realtor handling the closed bar next door and told him to get the bar's junk off of my property before I call the city to clear it and attach a lien on their building to force them to pay for the clearing. I pointed out that the (ahem) addition to the bar they had built [on my property!] was not done with a building permit and was falling down and if it wasn't dismantled SOON then City Code Enforcement was going to fine the @#$% out of them.

FRIDAY 6 JAN: I spent the entire day on GUNBOATS ATTACK, making more corrections to the cards, doing the back of the Tholian card (with one PF3 and one PFW), and doing the first draft of the first half of the rulebook. I did nothing on the other three lists because I just ran out of time. The time scheduled for the other three lists was taken up by an unexpected round of gunboat card reports that I wasn't expecting but which had to be done before Jean could proofread the cards. She did that, by the way.

SATURDAY: I rested and made an emergency run when Thor ate an entire two-pound bag of shrimp (three days of rations) in a single day.

SUNDAY: I rested, Got my 4000 steps, and repaired two loose boards on the back fence. Any further repairs will require a ladder, finding where I put the brackets I bought over a year ago, and hiring a handyman to do the work for me as my ancient carcass cannot risk the injuries that might come from a fall off the ladder.

MONDAY 9 JAN

We had a staff meeting. Discussed were:
1. priorities on to various TO DO lists
2. dealing with higher metal costs for minis. The prices of fighters will go up because we have to buy three separate metal parts all of which tripled in price.
3. Discussing the current OGL crisis. We're going to wait and see how it plays out.
4. production schedule. We will release the hard copy of ACTASF-Rein1 in a few days and will have one or two products in early February.

I worked on:
Gunboats attack (Mike West fixes to rulebook, round 1)
ACTASF reinforcements 1: Made Tony & Jean fixes.
Did the North Polar freighter for SFB and send it and a new FC ship to be checked.

Steve Petrick worked on R1 revision

I had an interesting phone call from an old friend.

Lou Zocchi was promoted to Brigadier General in the State Guard.

I arranged for the reprinting of the F&E boxed game maps.

SATURDAY 14 JAN 2023
Plans for a fun weekend were destroyed by a @#$% cold.

SUNDAY 15 JAN 2023
The cold continues, I wander about in a fog.

MONDAY 16 JAN 2023
Did not go to work, unable to drive, brain fog, unable to stay awake.

TUESDAY 17 JAN
Jean called in sick, Petrick stayed home, and I made it to the office (even though sick) for an hour to check email. I sent Tony the files he wanted for ACTASFR1 but that was about all I had the energy for.

On the way home, I stopped at Walgreens to pick up medicine for Leanna. I had a low-blood pressure incident of some kind, almost fainting. The people there were very nice, having me sit down and posting someone to watch me for a few minutes until I was better. It passed quickly but I dread to think of it happening a few minutes earlier or later when I was driving.

4 JAN 2023
My knee is not better, but less bad. I can stagger a few steps, with pain.
Al finally got out of the hospital but a fire at Walmart kept him from getting his pain meds and he is fairly miserable. Prayers and messages of support for Jean would show her she is not alone.

By Steve Cole (Stevecole) on Tuesday, February 07, 2023 - 07:09 pm: Edit

SUNDAY 5 JAN
I reinjured my knee and spent a miserable day in bed.

MONDAY 6 JAN

Monday I saw my orthopedic surgeon who showed me the scans of my spine. The only thing he could find was very minor and decades old and not the cause of the current problems. I haven't had "pain" per se in days but my leg is sore as heck and stiff, making it difficult to sleep or walk. It's hard to concentrate on getting things done.

By Steve Cole (Stevecole) on Thursday, February 23, 2023 - 12:02 am: Edit

FERUARY 22, WEDNESDAY, 2023
I finished the PDF for GUNBOATS ATTACK and gave a printout to Jean and Al so they could check for font anomalies before it is uploaded.

There was a meeting on R1 with Steve Petrick (who said all reports are finished and he is just chasing down annexes), Al Beddow (who is doing the final page layout), and Stephen V Cole (who was given a list of the art he needs to round up and send to Al). This product will be the next release.

Staff meeting to pick the next projects.
I wasted most of the day trying to find out about the pain in my left side. My primary doctor didn't have an opening so I went to the clinic where the nurse practitioner said I needed a cat scan and to go to the hospital where she had made all of the arrangements. I went and after two hours of poking, prodding, and meaningless tests, I asked what the heck was going on. The nurses said that I was being admitted to the hospital and did I want to see a dinner menu. I respectfully said they were most definitely NOT admitting me to the hospital and I was leaving to get home for dinner. Hours later I spoke with someone on the phone who said that the NP had no authority to order a cata scan so instead she told them to admit me and do the cat scan on their own hook. I pointed out that no one discussed this monumentally stupid plan with me and that they could call me Monday to schedule a cat scan on Tuesday or Wednesday. They said I could leave but they could not schedule a cat scan unless a doctor ordered it, so my choices were to wait over night for their doctor to see me Saturday or go home and call my own doctor on Monday. Which is what I did. I think they were defaulting to the "safest" course of action which also happened to be the most profitable course of action for them.
