I think everybody agrees with, "can we just not?" Thus nobody commented for 3 hours and 9 minutes. Hopefully we can manage to go 24 hours or longer not commenting on personal opinions of Musk's taking control of Twitter.
The clock starts now...

Musk and Twitter are not appropriate topics for discussion on this BBS as they are far too politically charged.
Further comments will be deleted, and the person posting them will get whanged with "strike one."
Mark Hoyle, you got personal with your last post. That is an automatic strike against you. Don't get another strike.

I have generally avoided posting on twitter, and more or less confine myself to posting on this board. The ownership of the company is not likely to change that. Especially since recent issues have impacted my ability to express myself (frequently going over what I have written to clean up my typos and some still get through).
By Jeff Anderson (Jga) on Thursday, November 03, 2022 - 03:43 pm: Edit |
SPP, as someone with similar problems, I can sympathize; goodness knows I invariably have to backspace at least three keystrokes for every one that ends up posted.
It is important that we ALL are able to express our opinions, so speaking for myself, I'm glad you're choosing to continue to do so, regardless of the difficulties in doing so.
By Jeff Anderson (Jga) on Tuesday, November 08, 2022 - 09:30 pm: Edit |
SPP, last Wednesday, you posted at 3:10 PM that you'd cast your ballot for the 2022 Midterms.
By now, we all here in the United States should have done so as well.
Some of us may be disappointed by the results of these elections, some may be elated by them.
I thank all who serve, Army, Navy, Marines, Air Force, Space Force, National Guard, Coast Guard, Air National Guard, Law Enforcement, Firefighters, heroes all.
Those of you, ladies and gentlemen, who serve and protect, without judgement, so we may have a voice to be heard.
Undoubtedly, should we ever discuss specific issues, we would find those on which we disagree. I respect that you have heartfelt reasons for your beliefs, a logical argument for your beliefs, or some combination thereof that is important to you. It is our differences that make us unique.
And, as my favorite philosopher says, "If all the threads in a tapestry were the same size, shape, length, and color, it would be a rug. It's our differences that make humanity the beautiful work of art that it is."

A topic has been opened for Federation Commander Battle Groups to be used in Captain's Log #55, but so far there are not many enteries (particularly when compared to the topic for Star fleet Battles battle forces).

COMIC BOOK FANS AND COLLECTORS
Steve Petrick is auctioning his lifetime collection of comic books here:
https://www.bentleysauction.com/auctions/10554/landing
He has thousands of them. The auction ends tonight. Pick up some bargains, and some collectibles, and some interesting ones. Bentley's won't ship but if you authorize ADB to pick up your lots we'll ship them and charge you for actual shipping costs. Help Steve out!

FYI, when I try opening the catalog I get an XML error on my PC trying to follow the link.
maybe the link is bad?

The auction continues tomorrow. Some lots have no bids. Bid $1 on ten lots and pay shipping, for under $20 your annoying nephew gets a fun Christmas present.
As for the link, just google bentleys auction, then look at the various auctions for Steven’s comics.

The link works for my PC.
Try this one
www.bentleysauction.com
and you should see the comics quickly enough.

No joy, Steve. We get to the auction page for SPP's collection, but the link to the catalog PDF is broken. I checked other auctions on the site, and only a few PDF links worked. Most take you to an error page:

Please start the sign up for the next tourney
By Jean Sexton Beddow (Jsexton) on Friday, December 29, 2023 - 04:37 pm: Edit |
Carl, I need the paperwork from Petrick BEFORE we start the sign-up. Petrick has taken some well-deserved time this week, so I don't have the information I need to clear Petrick to start the new signups.

SPP,
Nice to see you back. I have 3 questions.I know any answers are in the hypothetical zone and subject change.
1. Is there a chance of a new SFB module in 2024?
2, In F&E the Federation CVA is restricted from operating A-20s because of the balcony and track system. Does this restriction apply in SFB?
3. The Gorns and couple of other empires developed Space Patrol Ships as an exception to various rules. Is it possible that the Federation studied making a SPS when making the SCS? If possible could a short background on the development of the SCS and the study of a SPS be in the next Captain's Log or Annex? I understand any answer is no promise or yes, just that the SPS could rise to the level of consideration.
Thank you. Hope this message finds you okay.
By Randy Green (Hollywood750) on Sunday, March 03, 2024 - 09:34 pm: Edit |
I do like Joe's request for a background article on the Federation SCS.
By Jeff Wile (Jswile) on Monday, March 04, 2024 - 06:45 am: Edit |
I also would appreciate an article referencing the SCS, particularly the differences in the development of role and doctrine (if any) between the CVS-SPS-SPS variants.

I am afraid I was readmitted to the hospital on Friday Morning, 1 Mar 24 due to my Blood sugar going down the toilet and not knowing what I was supposed to do at the time. My bed was soaked in sweat and I did not really function until that afternoon. If it comes close to happening again I will have a couple of chocolate bars available.
Products under development are the Orion Master Starship Book.
The Federation has a problem operating a flatbed with torpedo fighters because there is a rule prohibiting armed fighters holding their energy weapons (drones are okay).
As to history of the development of Space Control Ships, I think we will look into it, but no promises.

To clarify, Steve P accidentally took the wrong medication Friday night (actually 3am Saturday) and it threw his body into a deep dive. Fortunately the retirement hotel he lives in has a nurse who checks on him every morning. She discovered the situation and sent him to the hospital. He has taken steps to make a repeat of this mistake impossible.
