You have all learned here that there are three ways to respond when you do not like an idea posted by James Doe:
1. I don't like the idea because...
2. I don't like the idea.
3. I hate James Doe.
Which one of those do you think actually gets considered when I evaluate his proposal?
That's what happened on PLANETBASE. I posted some idea. Some people hated them, some liked them, some adapted them into better ideas, some suggested alternative solutions to the problem.
This twerp alone just explained that I don't deserve to be allowed to post on that BBS.

Well, that is a new data point.
Subject person has a cognitive mental age equivalent to that of a poorly behaved six year old child.
Does there really need anything else to be said?

I said it all over there. Just letting you guys know why I posted something strange here.

It was a good day. Petrick came to the office. He took the K ship SSDs that Nick did home to check; Steve P had already done the gunboat parts of that book. We finished the R5 SSDs and told Nick to send us the final files. Jean green-lit ACTASF-Reinforcements 2. Jean told Mike West to submit a formal proposal for C4K (gunboats for simulators) and (separately) a book of extra Romulan SSDs.

Hi Steve,
My sister had the same problem. She was on a meatless diet for a while. Long story short, she developed an iron deficiency and had the same symptoms that you described. The solution was iron infusions. She had a total of five shots before her iron levels were normal. I kid her now, asking if she has had her chicken livers for supper!

I am bariatric, meaning I had my digestive system surgically rearranged to speed weight loss. That means I eat a diet of meat and fruit, so meat shortage isn’t a factor. My iron shortage is caused by being 74 and finding that some things just don’t work any more. I am short of zinc, copper, manganese, and take mountains of D3 because Covid could get ugly.
Bariatricans have numerous medical and digestive quirks, including small meals, naps after each meal, mountains of vitamin and mineral supplements, occasional abdominal agony, and other things, but it is worth it to be 150 pounds lighter than before. I would have been dead long ago without weight loss surgery. Not saying there would not have been advantages in not witnessing the last decade.

WOW. Thank you for sharing.
My sister would likely have died if her iron deficiency was left untreated.
I have type II diabetes. The Doc said I make enough insulin for normal people. The disease requires a lot more insulin for the cells to uptake nutrients. They call the disease insulin resistance.
On a side note, I take Jardiance as part of my treatment. It has a bad side effect - Potassium deficiency. IE, I pee a lot. So, I have to take Potassium supplements now to maintain normal Potassium levels.
Like you, I have a myriad of health problems. I'll mention one of them because it is hereditary and there is no cure. I have macular degeneration. I am slowly going blind. Ugh.
By Steve Cole (Stevecole) on Saturday, August 23, 2025 - 04:23 pm: Edit |
My wife has macular degeneration but eye injections every month have stabilized her eyesight so she will never go blind. The medication is incredibly expensive (thousands of dollars a month) but Medicare covers it.

Rested at home all of Saturday. Surgical pain kept me from falling asleep until 8am but then I got six sound hours and a good lunch.
Dizziness continues.
We changed the bandage at 8 pm and the incision shows no signs of infection, so at least that.

Rested all day. I have had numerous abdominal surgeries and apparently the repair of one or more has broken down, causing a lot of pain in my side. I will have to see a surgeon to decide if I need something done, but that means waiting two weeks to see my regular doctor and getting a referral for a month or two later with the surgeon in question. I gotta love the American medical insurance system.

Tuesday 16 Sept: visit with new primary doctor, good report, I have gained 12 pounds that I need to get rid of due to lack of exercise because of the iron-poor blood inducing dizzy spells. They have scheduled me to receive a transfusion of rusty water from a coffee can full of nails that has been out in the rain for a month. Everything else looks good. The doctor was concerned over the ugly gash in my hand from the time Thor decided he didn't want to be picked up and taken somewhere he didn't want to go.
Monday 22 Sept: good report from kidney doctor. Function is up from 55% to 59%, which is pretty good since I have only 50% of the original kidneys.

Steve:
In the real world (DOD, defense, U.S. Navy commentary sites) there is a discussion about the U.S. Navy issues and problems with ship building (expense, quality control, management troubles etc…)
One of the proposed solutions talks about the United StatesCoast Guard, and the absence of any similar issues related to ship building. Specifically, up gunning existing designs for service with the u.s. Navy.
Note:modern USCG ships are fully AEGIS integrated and have served as carrier escorts in Carrier Battle Groups.
Request: Could we have a new topic for ideas to refit Federation Police ships (there being more than half a dozen SSDs published over the years to choose from.)
I am not suggesting a X2 type refit, but an emergency program for Carrier Battle Groups to provide carrier escorts for years 202+.

In addition to the standard "Prescription" of Chicken Noodle Soup for colds, in my family, we also prescribe M&Ms as needed to keep the Blues at bay.
