Hello All,
I'm a beginner level player looking for an opponent for Fed Comm On Line. I'm based in Toronto, Canada.

Sebastian, you may want to check here also for FedCom resources if you haven't been there already:

Thank you for the link Mike. Yes, I've posted there as well. I'm making a nuisance of myself everywhere!

Hey all. I'm a new player. I've played twice with folks in my game group (with me attempting to teach) and four solo games. I'd like to find someone experienced to play a game against so I can be sure that I fully grok some of the intricacies of the rules. As such I'm looking for someone friendly who's willing to mentor me a bit and realizes they're playing against a rookie.
I am in Central Timezone. I work nights. Sundays and Mondays work best for me, but if you're a night owl (or in a different timezone), any time after midnight CDT is pretty good for me.

If you're willing to get an SFBOL account, I can let you step into a campaign. The varied encounters should help you get experienced.

That sounds really enticing. I'm nervous though. If I mess up a rule is someone going to rip me a new one? I'd probably be out at the first possible opportunity based on my poor showings thus far ;) How is best to contact you? How long does a single online tournament round generally last?
Oh, and thank you!

My email is in my forum-information (click on my name).
Tournaments usually last 6 months or so. A round will usually go a month or so.
Campaigns usually last years. The one I'm running right now has been running since Febuary and is just finishing turn 3.
My experience with the SFBOL is that everyone is really laid-back. Not that they will let you slide on important rules, but that they are really patient and willing to point out mistakes with gentleness.
If you're truely interested, you can download the client (at sfbonline.com) and play as a demo-account. Send in some money to let you play something besides the Klingon or Fed tourney cruisers at your own timing. This way you can get a feel for the online interface and perhaps knock off some of the rust, before you're in for 5 dollars a month.

Tim,
If you are on SFB online, I'd be glad to help you out. Just e-mail me anytime and we can set something up.

I just renewed my subscription to SFB online and decided to add Federation Commmander. I'm interested in checking this game out, so if anyone would like to play Federation Commander online, drop me a line. I haven't played this game before, but I did read the rules a while back.
