I really support this idea... I hope this works out well. Frankly, you might be underpricing yourself a little. I would be willing to pay a $2 to $3 a ship for the right ships.

By Terry O'Carroll (Terryoc) on Wednesday, September 08, 2010 - 03:42 am: Edit

John, the ship packs will be 12 ships, so that would be $24-36 for each ship pack if it were 2 or 3 bucks a ship. Which would be too much IMO.

By Steve Cole (Stevecole) on Wednesday, September 08, 2010 - 11:45 am: Edit

I don't need to be greedy, so $10 for 12 ships seems fair to me.

Well, Gary, seeing as how you're my BFF and all...

Thank you kindly.

New Ship Card Pack Released

After consultation with fans, we are releasing "six packs" of Ship Cards for only $5. This pack includes six ship cards for Federation Commander, representing the primary ship class types of the Frax Empire. The Frax are a fictitious "simulator empire" invented by the Klingons for use in combat training. They have disruptors and phaser-1s mounted in FX and RX firing arcs (hence the name "Frax") along with phaser-3s and drones. (The Frax are based on "wet navy warship designs" and were used to train Klingon captains to deal with unusual ships.) The Frax "inhabit" the fictitious "border state" between the Klingons and Kzintis, and were the subject of hundreds of simulated "wargames" used for training Klingon officers.

The pack includes

* The Battleship
* Dreadnought
* Heavy Cruiser
* War Cruiser
* War Destroyer
* Frigate

It also includes a scenario involving the Frax and images for creating your own counters. (If you use miniatures, any number of existing naval miniatures will suffice for the Frax.)

We hope you enjoy it.

New on e23: Frax Ship Card Pack #2

Six more ships for the Frax Battle Line. This pack includes:

* Heavy battlecruiser
* Command cruiser
* Fast cruiser
* War cruiser leader
* Drone-armed war cruiser
* Drone-armed war destroyer.

Also included are the new scenario 8E1 STOP THEM, which has never been published anywhere else and color images for the counters of the Frax ships in this pack.

One thing I feel is missing in the two Frax packs is any kind of ship description for each class presented.

Could there be room in future packs to give a short description for each class of ship included?

By Steve Cole (Stevecole) on Friday, October 01, 2010 - 12:06 pm: Edit

The descriptions would be so generic that it seemed pointless.

This is a dreadnought. It's bigger than a BCH and smaller than a BB.

By Fred J. Kreller (Kreller1) on Friday, October 01, 2010 - 12:37 pm: Edit

The Frax BB is a BEAST! I can imagine how it would make the Klingons have nightmares. :-)

Svc, thank you for these packs and for the counter along with them!

A quick question concerning the next e23 upload: which Klingon ships are in these next packages?

By Ken Rodeghero (Ken_Rodeghero) on Friday, October 08, 2010 - 11:25 am: Edit

This is neither ship cards nor FC, exactly, but e23 just uploaded issue #42 of their old magazine, The Space Gamer. This issue contains an interesting article by SVC from 1981 on the origins and future of SFB. A cool pickup for all the completists and/or SFB (and maybe even FC) fans out there about the humble beginnings of one of the best games ever.

By Ben Moldovan (Shadow1) on Friday, October 08, 2010 - 12:44 pm: Edit

Hi SVC,

Been busy as always, but even more than usual this year. I'm so far out of the loop in the SFU, it's not even funny. I'll try not to pester you with TOO many questions. That said, I do have one question. What is e23? Is that your new online store?

Ben

By Steve Cole (Stevecole) on Friday, October 08, 2010 - 01:17 pm: Edit

e23 is an on-line PDF store run by Steve Jackson Games.

By Mike West (Mjwest) on Friday, October 08, 2010 - 01:39 pm: Edit

Link to e23 online store.

By Jean Sexton (Jsexton) on Friday, October 08, 2010 - 01:58 pm: Edit

Hi Ben,

Feel free to pester me as I'm sort of sharing marketing duties with SVC.

We are exploring PDF releases of Ship Cards, some RPG materials, and have released our very first SFB module (YG3) through e23. As indicated, SJG runs e23 and Alex (their guy in charge of e23) is really great at handling the "warehouse" there.

Also new are our Cafe Press releases at http://www.cafepress.com/starfleetuniv, one of which is a Ship Card on various types of apparel.

Thanks for checking in with us.

SVC or Jean; when can we purchase those recent Klingon and Fed shipcard packs on e23?

By Jean Sexton (Jsexton) on Monday, October 18, 2010 - 04:46 pm: Edit

Art, as soon as we get the ads finished and the product uploaded. In the meantime, you can check out the free download of Federation Commander's First Missions on e23: http://e23.sjgames.com/item.html?id=ADB4000

By Steve Cole (Stevecole) on Monday, October 18, 2010 - 05:54 pm: Edit

I am trying to finish the Klingon one, but Mike West asked a question that only Petrick can answer, and Leanna sent him on errands, so I'll get the answer and finish this when he gets back. Leanna may have left for the day by then, but if not, I'll send it to her to upload, and she might or might not have time. If not, she'll upload it in the morning.

By Steve Cole (Stevecole) on Monday, October 18, 2010 - 06:54 pm: Edit

I finished the Klingon pack and sent it to Leanna, but by that time, she had gone home so she'll upload it tomorrow. Even if she had uploaded it, I'm sure Alex K at SJG has gone home so it won't show on the list before tomorrow anyway.

By ART TROTMAN (Drneuro) on Monday, October 18, 2010 - 08:14 pm: Edit

SVC-thanks for the update!
I will check back tomorrow!
