FED COMMNDER EARLY YEARS: Ok, I got a print quote, and here's the deal.

We're going to put this on this forum, the BBS, and Facebook. We need to see 20 people say they will buy it by mail order from ADB (it will not be in your store). Then we will print a minimum mail order run and see if those 20 people and a few more actually buy it. THEN we'll talk.

The $9.95 pack will have six early years ships and a sheet of rules for the Early Years. (Figure Fed, Klingon, Kzinti, Lyran, and two Hydrans.)

These are hard copy full color laminated cards, but the product will be in a baggie and will not have a cover. Again, it will be mail order only and not available through stores. Call it a sales experiment if you want.

(If you want a PDF or both print and PDF then say so, but be clear which you want.)

Sign me up for one copy at $9.95.

Print for mine. (missed the last line in my hurry to claim one!!)

By Sebastian Palozzi (Sebastian) on Wednesday, August 26, 2015 - 08:57 pm: Edit

Hmmmm. Federation Commander: Early Years.

Federation Commander

Hmmm. Well, it's not exactly the Module Y4 I was hoping to see...but....

Yes...yes, I think I can artist for free for that...

Xander,
That is one awesome cover!!! I'd buy it just for that alone, and I don't have any FC stuff . . . yet.
Very very cool.

BTW, what are those ships under the Republic class ship?

By Gary Carney (Nerroth) on Thursday, August 27, 2015 - 01:13 pm: Edit

Those are Xander's warp-refitted Vulcan and Andorian cruisers.

By Xander Fulton (Dderidex) on Thursday, August 27, 2015 - 01:31 pm: Edit

It's tricky making ships that look 'cool' and SFU-ish that also fit the existing SSDs and roughly match the counter art, let me tell ya... I like the way these came out, myself.

By Mike West (Mjwest) on Thursday, August 27, 2015 - 03:47 pm: Edit

Well, you did a great job! If you ever want the idea behind the Rigellian outline, let me know. (That was my outline. :))

By Xander Fulton (Dderidex) on Thursday, August 27, 2015 - 04:00 pm: Edit

Yeah, actually - for that one, I tried playing around with a couple variations using the SSD and counter layout, but couldn't really make anything click.

I mean, these aren't super high on my to-do list, of course. I understand ADB isn't really going to do anything with them, but thoughts on how it should look would be great to have - I'm sure I'll bang away at one or two more, eventually...they are fun to dabble around with.

Some people have asked about creating an Attack product from the Early Years idea.

To do that we would need 200+ people interested. Frankly, I am not seeing that level of Early Years love in FC.

By Jeffery Smith (Jsmith) on Thursday, August 27, 2015 - 11:17 pm: Edit

i would buy both print and or pdf. i would also buy any attack product for EY.

By Garth L. Getgen (Sgt_G) on Friday, August 28, 2015 - 12:09 am: Edit

Well, you know me ... I'll buy one of any hard-copy product ADB prints.

My wife took one look at the Andorian ship and asked if it was this:

I responded on facebook, but I will absolutely buy the print cards as soon as they are available.

By Duane Nordeen (Dnordeen) on Monday, December 14, 2015 - 03:28 pm: Edit

I'm not sure if I replied to this one somewhere else. For $10, I'll pick up a printed copy.

By Joshua Covert (Japherwaki) on Tuesday, January 12, 2016 - 01:27 pm: Edit

I'd buy one. I'd prefer print, but I'd settle for PDF.

By Bill Su (Wsu) on Thursday, January 21, 2016 - 10:34 pm: Edit

Am I understanding this correctly? The PDF version is $10, and the full color laminated card version is also $10? Why are the cards no more expensive than the PDF?

Assuming I understand correctly, I will put myself down for the print version.

By Lobster Thermadore (Jimmyjimjam) on Saturday, November 11, 2017 - 01:48 pm: Edit

Is the print for this still available?

By Jean Sexton (Jsexton) on Saturday, November 11, 2017 - 02:39 pm: Edit

We didn't get 20 people, so it isn't available.

By the way, on this board, we use our real name, so you may need to edit your profile.

Hello how about another middle years project?

By Mike West (Mjwest) on Monday, November 13, 2017 - 10:07 am: Edit

Briefing #2 was intended to be complete, and included just about everything we could think of at the time. (I would think the inclusion of the Federation Hospital Ship should show this.) As such, the Middle Years effort is basically done with no further plans to extend it any further.

By Mike West (Mjwest) on Monday, November 13, 2017 - 05:42 pm: Edit

Out of curiosity, what ships do you consider missing from the Middle Years?
