I wonder...
What about a special monster for the North Polar Republic to deal with; Grinch?
Grinch (with semi-allies) versus North Polar Republic (with proper allies)?
When North Polar Republic "Damage" points against Grinch reach a certain threshhold, it causes Grinch heart "...To grown three sizes that day."
North Polar Republic "Damage" points are negated by "Naughty" damage points from Grinch semi-allies.
North Polar Republic allies would also cause "Naughty" damage points if they fire on Grinch.
North Polar Republic ships can't fire on Grinch semi-allies ("Naughty" ships), but their allies can.
"Naughty" ships can also fire on North Polar Republic ships, but aside from keeping the North Polar Republic from being able to achieve their own goals (i.e.: bringng a change of heart to Grinch), they're really just caught in a standard fleet action against the North Polar Republic allies.
Anyway, this is just an insane/inane ramble from this screwball. If anyone thinks it might be turned into something useful, please feel free to run with it.

I may have missed it but do we have Acta stats for these?
By Dal Downing (Rambler) on Friday, December 23, 2022 - 03:20 am: Edit |
No you didn't miss it.
I have that on my list if things to do/bring up after we finish book 3.
Unless Tony or SVC want us to switch gears and do some of the conversion now.

Actually there has been a Call to Arms North Polar pack on e23 for three years. Search for North polar or Christmas pack. We probably should update it with the last two or three ships. I don't think it has the frigate or freighter.

Would it be possible to get the Polar freighter SFB SSD or the information posted for it from December's Hailing Frequency?

Possible yes, today (tomorrow, Sunday) no. Send me an email to remind me when I make it to the office.

Holiday music is getting to me.
Monster idea: Space Chipmunks.
They do damage to crew sanity. This can either be represented by crew casualties or by building up points towards something akin to the Klingon Mutiny. Perhaps as a perversion of Lab rules?
Crew has to collect data points to figure out how to stop the Chipmunk song from being broadcast all over subspace.
(Or, perhaps, to get a bit of flash inspiration for the Bob Rivers take on "Chestnuts Roasting on an Open Fire?" Perhaps?)
Meanwhile, just shooting the insipid rodents garners "Naughty" points from nearby North Polar units.
(Worth it.)
Aaahhhhh... Doing this posting was Cathartic...

On behalf of all of us other Jeff’s around here, I formally apologize for Mr. Anderson’s crime against humanity.
May his stay in the booth be Merry and Bright…. Until the loop starts.

Ordinarily, there is a finite amount of time in the booth.
Perhaps Mr. Anderson would benefit from more time in the Agonizer?
There is a setting (never used before…)…
The paper work is a bit more complicated, and the power drain over time is enormous.
The control lever is the one marked with the symbol for infinity.

Guys, guys, there's no need for that! Problem has been solved. It seems those vile rodents have been an intergalactic plague; the Andromedan Invasion is actually a crusade against the place they saw as the likely source of the problem.
They've joined forces with all major, and I believe almost all minor galactic players to eliminate the problem.
The Gorn/Paravian task force has had a great deal of success in the Eastern regions of the Alpha Octant, but it seems the Loriyill/Souldra group has had the most wide ranging success.
