The Kzinti DNL Thundermark was built before the General War and assigned to the Duke's fleet.

STORY NUMBER ONE: Used on a raid behind Klingon lines, the ship disappeared without a trace sometime prior to Y176.

STORY NUMBER TWO; The wreck of the Thundermark was found in an asteroid field somewhere near the Klingon Fed neutral zone in Y186.

It was found by a wandering band of ex-military guys using a war-surplus gunboat, like so many such bands of guys in war surplus gunboats. They were looking through a devastated area that had been Klingon space (but, due to the war, was no longer strictly controlled by the Klingons). As with such guys in such boats, their business model was to find enough stuff to keep their gunboat fueled and repaired and supplied until they dumb-lucked into a really good find and could retire.

The wandering dudes boarded the ship and ran into trouble when they discovered that at least a few crewmen had survived the previous decade. These Kzinti crewmen were, well, a little bit insane and a whole lot hungry and anti-social.
