andrew, email me at firstname.lastname@example.org whenever is convenient, and we can hash this out.

I had company from out of town end of last week until yesterday, sorry for not checking sooner.

Anyone interested in a 2k game with options through SO? I have a Vassal board I would like to try out. I can't do a face-to-face game(unless its with a computer, as I have small children.

I probably shouldn't be doing this, but I'm hoping to get into a CB game of F&E. I have a bit of experience.
By Lawrence Bergen (Lar) on Tuesday, April 03, 2007 - 03:02 pm: Edit
Chris and Lee: It probably would be a good idea to at least list your time zone and when you might like to play. Vasal and CB have both some nice abilities with regard to flexibility but some people use a chat or voice program in congruence with CB to get a more F-t-F feel. It works real nicely but requires mostly simultaneous play.
Also are you looking for a smaller scenario like 2nd Kzinti-Fed War, Reptilicon, or something mid-range like 4 Powers War; or epic like the Full General War, Gale Force, or Cloud Burst?
By Lee Hanna (Lee) on Wednesday, April 04, 2007 - 08:54 pm: Edit
Ah. I'm in Eastern Time, but I prefer to play by email.
Also, I could go for a small or mid-range game. An updated 2FZ War would be great, as would a sector of the GW.

I am in EST (GMT-5). I am looking for a game which incorporates all of the current ruleset and would help me test out the vassal board.

Chris - I may be able to start a new game soon. A game I am in now just imploded, so my free time may allow it. I'll let you know in a couple of days.

Looking to get back in the swing of things. I'd prefer a ftf game, anywhere within 1 hour (or so) of Union, NJ. Otherwise, for online, obviously I'm in the Eastern TZ
for ftf, I can host; I've got the room.
Willing to pcik you up/meet you part way, or I can drive to you.

I live in Hanover PA, and would be up for some F&E if you have a copy (don't own a copy, but have most of the rulebooks). I also meet once a month with some guys (BG Baltimore) down in MD...
I live in Union NJ, a little more than 2 hours frmo you. I'm wondering since you make the drive to MD, would you mind the drive to Union?

I live in Langhorne PA (Bucks County) How far away are you from there?
By Joe Stevenson (Alligator) on Saturday, June 09, 2007 - 12:28 pm: Edit
64 Miles according to Mapquest (+/- based on you exact address)
Should be about 1 hour drive
By Russell J. Manning (Rjmanning) on Saturday, June 09, 2007 - 12:55 pm: Edit
yes but not right away. Unfortunately, I am having a hard time finding a job so I am working part time waiting tables. My biggest money days are Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights. So I don't think I would be able to play on those days.
However, I am interviewing a lot and really looking. Hopefully, I will find something very soon and we can start a game.
By Bill Stec (Billstec2) on Sunday, June 10, 2007 - 12:23 am: Edit
Right now, I'm involved in a game I'm hosting here. I have 2 guys who drive up from MD/VA to play (one lives in VA, he takes the subway to MD where the other guy picks him up and they drive up here). About 1.5 hours from the second guy's house to here.
We also have a game that we are playing in MD at the house of a guy who hosts the BattleGroup Baltimore gamers. We're playing the 4 Powers War there, and have maybe 2 or 3 monthly sessions to go before it's finished.
I don't think I can squeeze any more gaming sessions in right now. However, we desperately need a fourth player here as the guy who signed up to be the Klingons has not been able to make it for several months - this forces the one Coalition player to run both the Klingons and Lyrans and really slows the game down. If you have any interest in the game we're running (look in Reports from the Front, near the bottom, for a game entitled "A General War variant you all might like" for more details on the game). It's been at least one session a month, and frequently 2 sessions/month.
You'd be welcome to join us here if you can make it. We play on a Saturday, generally 11am or so until 10-11pm.
Thanks for your interest.

I can do once a month, but not two (too many other things going on, at least to be away); I have tickets to all the Mets Saturday home games, which eats up 2 Sat's per month
Given how badly that game seems to be going for the Coalition, I'll pass this time, but the next time you start a new game, drop me a line and let me know
By Bill Stec (Billstec2) on Sunday, June 10, 2007 - 01:07 pm: Edit
Will do. Aside from the likely to succeed Hydran Expedition, I thought the Coalition was doing pretty decently. How often does the Kzin Homeworld fall on T3? Though I expected him to press harder on his Homeworld hex raid.
We'll play it for awhile and see how it goes, though I already think the unrestricted Coalition mauler production through the 10 initial turns of peace have distinctly unbalanced things. The extra Kzin CVs aren't compensating well enough, what with losing an escort every battle round in multiple battle hexes...
By Joe Stevenson (Alligator) on Sunday, June 10, 2007 - 04:54 pm: Edit
What were the casualties for that T3 "win"? Also, losing the EB starbase so early is not so hot.
By Bill Stec (Billstec2) on Sunday, June 10, 2007 - 09:07 pm: Edit
The Hydrans lost 3 tugs (1 scout pod, 1 battle pallet, 1 FSP), 4 DG, 1 RN, 2 NSC, 5 KN.
The Lyrans were rolling super hot on the Mauler rolls, and basically directed every round. After 11 rounds, only one of the 2 maulers shocked. They also had EW superiority for the battle most every round.
Lyrans lost 5 CW, 3 DW, 3 CL, 4 DD, 6 FF, DWS.
We figured it as about 100eps of SB and ships, versus over 150 eps worth of lost Hyran ships.
By Joe Stevenson (Alligator) on Sunday, June 10, 2007 - 09:54 pm: Edit
So they lost 22 ships AND the SB vs. 15 Hydran ships, even while with an EW advantage
EPs is not a good way to determine victory.

I'm looking for a ftf (only) game of F&E. I've only played solo (twice) and vanilla (although I have all the expansions). I would play other expansions though would anticipate getting a kicking!
I have a dedicated games room so the game could be left set up long term.
I'm in Harwich, Essex, UK so if there is anyone reasonably local that fancies a regular game then let me know
By Paul Howard (Raven) on Saturday, June 16, 2007 - 09:08 am: Edit
I am in Reading - about 130 miles - 2 1/2 hours away...
It's just about OK for a day, or alternatively two full days and a stay over?
I also have a Games room and a spare room aswell.
James lives in Birmingham (about the same distance to Reading) - and a local guy may be interested - could do a four player game?
Anyway, I should be up for either.
My e-mail address is PHowardUK at AOL.com

I'm up for that - I'll send you an email.
Thanks for the reply

I am a new F&E player (I've played SFB much in the past) and I would like to play a short PBEM game, like Reptilicon or something, to figure out how the game system works before trying something longer.
I have a vague idea how cyberboard works so I'd probably prefer that... but whatever. I have 2k plus the FO, CO, AO, and PO rulebooks (just not strategic ops) so I could play with any amount of those but I'd probably do better with less. I'm unlikely to be able to do much in real time, as I'll be traveling some this month but I will have internet access everywhere. I am usually GMT -5.
anyone interested can email email@example.com
