I'm going to be doing some travelling in the US.

Anyone know of any groups/players in Denver, or NYC?

By Joe Stevenson (Ikv_Sabre) on Monday, April 14, 2008 - 12:12 am: Edit

Dominic,

I live less than 15 miles from NYC.

Chuck and Grant Strong live near Denver

Tom,

Are you the same Tom Holz that graduated from Stevens in 1989?

Joe,

No I am not, sorry.

Time for my annual post here. Looking for anyone interested in F&E in the Grand Rapids, Michigan locale. Will travel reasonable distances. One other gamer in the area is interested, and has a game room available for long standing map setups and prolonged campaigns. Neither of us has played F&E but both have read (and I own) F&E and AO rule sets. Seeking experienced players for assistance. My email is up to date in my profile. Please email if you are interested.

Joe,
Did you go to Stevens Tech in Hobokon, NJ?

By Matthew G. Smith (Mattsmith) on Monday, April 14, 2008 - 01:27 pm: Edit

Yep, he did. I did too. Why, do you know more of us "ducks?"

By Paul Franz (Andromedan) on Tuesday, April 15, 2008 - 09:32 am: Edit

I ask because my brother went to Stevens before Hoboken got gentrified. He got his BS in '84. I am not sure if he got a Masters or not.

By Joe Stevenson (Ikv_Sabre) on Tuesday, April 15, 2008 - 10:30 am: Edit

I was there during the gentrification (86-91), Matt graduated in '89 I believe, so we both likely missed your brother (unless he was there for graduate work)

Small world, eh?

By Paul Franz (Andromedan) on Tuesday, April 15, 2008 - 11:14 am: Edit

Yup. Freaked me out to see the name of my brother school.

Hey all,

Looking for opponents in the Calgary, Alberta area... me and a buddy have been playing for a couple months now, 1 day per week, 10 hours or so per session... have the large scale map and all expansions and 3 copies of the game (need more E4 and FF counters lol) and a permanent setup. We're pretty familiar with the game now and are closing to end of the first scenario, so there's spots for a Fed, Rom and Gorn players

Looking for opponents for F&E. I prefer simple rulesets and strong opponents with a history of winning. I usually play on Cyberboard.

Looking for F&E players in the Dayton, Cincinati, and Columbus area. We play once a month in Xenia Ohio.

Any F&E players near Wilmington, DE that can host?

I'm thinking it's kind of the center of the universe between Union NJ, Hanover PA, Baltimore MD. We have a lot of players.

I was hoping ot join everyone in Hanover, but it's a 3-1/2 hour drive, and to do that I'd have to drive down on a Friday and find a hotel. I can't drive 7 hours AND play 7 hours :(

Wilmington is definitely possible for me.

By Daniel G. Knipfer (Dgknipfer) on Thursday, July 03, 2008 - 11:24 pm: Edit

If I could talk the wife into it I'd drive 7.5 hours to Hanover once a month to play. But gas prices to make that a bit much. :)

By Joe Stevenson (Ikv_Sabre) on Friday, July 04, 2008 - 12:00 am: Edit

Dan,

Hmmm....

What about once every three months, for a weekend at a time? :)

(a drive like that would need 1.5 days of playing to be worthwhile)

By Daniel G. Knipfer (Dgknipfer) on Friday, July 04, 2008 - 01:07 am: Edit

you'll have to negotiate that with my wife. Her e dress is knipfer at aol dot com.

Wish the train was cheaper from here.

By Joe Stevenson (Ikv_Sabre) on Friday, July 04, 2008 - 02:08 am: Edit

hmm... how much is the train from there?

By Joe Stevenson (Ikv_Sabre) on Friday, July 04, 2008 - 02:13 am: Edit

Looks like about $227 round trip from Cincinnati to Newark

I have no problem sharing some of the cost :)

Joe,

Funny you should mention this, as we finished up our F&E game, and are negotiating for the next one. I now have a local player, so at the least, excluding you, we now have 4 players. We usually play from about 11am til 9-10pm.

However, I can only host one session a month, due to the new baby (have to make sure the wife is off work that day to watch the baby).

We may play Maelstrom, but nothing is firm so far.

I know there are a couple decent hotels here in Hanover, but don't know if 1) you want to pay for one, and 2) what they cost. :)

No problem here. I can only make one session a month (considering the drive)

As for hotels, I'm willing to pay if it isn't too egregious.

If you'd be so kind as to look around at pricing (a clean motel with high-speed internet is all I need), I'd appreciate it.

As for scenrios, have I got a scenario for you! :)

Joe,

I'm crapping out in locating any actual rooms at the local hotels (Hampton Inn, Econolodge), as they seem to insist on 2 night stay.
