We will have to improvise. The Slirdarian Squad discovered (some how...) a set of rules for bowling pin ball.

Two teams, diamond formation(one person in first rank, two in second, three in third rank etc.).

Teams exchange volleys.

The only problem was they selected bowling balls instead of the inflated rubber/latex style balls. They claim it encourages muscle development.

Takes me back to my high school days. My school required bowling as part of physical fitness, and they had an arrangement with the local bowling alley. One day a week, the gym classes bused over to the bowling alley to bowl. Some wise guy started bowling overhand. Pretty soon everyone was. (It was an agricultural community. Lots of farmers and ranchers.) funny thing was, the scores improved across the board.

Anyway, the walls between booths 2 & 3 were temporarily removed (well, the section leader of the squad assures me it’s just temporary... ) so the Slirdarians have room to toss the bowling balls.

Unless Mr. Anderson is very good at dodging bowling balls launched at significant velocities, it might be a good idea to wear a helmet. (Pads would be a good idea as well...)

"Apparently you've never played golf..."

By Jeff Anderson (Jga) on Friday, June 19, 2020 - 12:29 pm: Edit

If the balls hit me in the head, they won't damage any vital organs.

(BTW: Only agent "Smith" ever calls me "Mister Anderson," and he's ANNOYING!! :))

Garth:

Saw that little fan film last night. Another enjoyable film from my fellow Scots! :)

Yeah, for a fan-film, it was pretty good. I figured Jean might like the ending.

STAR TREK: BELOW DECKS
I watched the first episode last night. I loved it but my sense of humor is weird as most of you already know. Leanna hated it and refuses to ever watch another episode. The various "I hate the guy running trek" Youtube channels all hate it, but then, they expected to hate it and that became a self-fulfilling prophecy. It's not just a corny bunch of sight gags and innuendoes, it was actually a fairly interesting plot. (Let's just say "zombie virus" and move on.) The concept of "second contact" (set up the subspace communication system and make sure we spelled the name of the planet correctly when we added it to the map) actually makes sense. Anyway, nobody around here does something because I said to (outside of the game rules) so give it a try and see what YOU think of the latest rendition of trek.

Personally, I thought it was both engaging and hilarious. :)

Jim Botaitis, the guy who did the fan-made Enterprise deck plans, just posted a link to more of his work: Trek Blueprints I asked him if it was okay before posting his link here.

I enjoyed Lower Decks too, and my kids actually want to watch it with me... they haven't had interest in any of the live action series'.

Found this while surfing the net. It was discussing some of the insider facts about the original Dragnet TV show from the 50s:

Gene Roddenberry, who created the Star Trek franchise, worked in the LAPD’s public relations department and went on to name the Star Trek race “Klingons” after a Lieutenant Klingin.

In episodes throughout the show’s run, there are frequent references to a police officer known as Lieutenant Klingin, usually in situations that involved a lie detector test. A fun fact about the officer mentioned is that he was a real police officer with the LAPD who would sometimes act as an adviser for police matters on the show.

Why would Klingons wear the same colour as one of their favourite targets, Star Fleet Security guards? :)

Klingons recommend blood to get out lemon juice and seltzer stains.

"Commander Kurgen, welcome back from your raid on the Federation. You smell...fresh. Is that lemon?"

"Transporter beamed the commandos into their lounge, Sir. Enemy fire blew up the bar, there were fruit fragments and selzter everywhere. Corporal Hurgf was standing next to a bucket of limes when he was hit, we had to leave his uniform behind."

"I was wondering about the naked Marines in the hall, but I wanted to hear from you before mentioning it to them. Carry on."

Found two fan-made productions on YouTube today.

"The Quintain" Animated STAR TREK Episode Fan film run-time = 23:16

Features Scotty in the center seat while Kirk & Spock are away.

Star Trek First Frontier (2020) run-time = 1:20:49

Features Robert April and the launch of the Enterprise. The sound-mix on this should be redone. Too often, the music in louder than the dialog, and the volume changed without warning. I'd suggest NOT listening with headphones. Excellent story and decent acting more than makes up for that.

Season 3 of Discovery's first two episodes are out...and are surprisingly good. In a way, it's a bit of a return to Gene's vision of, "Wagon Train to the Stars".

Maybe it's just how desperate I am for TV (Now that we finished eight seasons of HOUSE) but we actually liked STD-3/1 so much we went back and watched STD-2 two episodes per night. I still think STD-2 was a really stupid plot line but it's more watchable, somehow, than it was when I tried the first time.
