Stumbled across something new (for me) on YouTube that might be of some interest to some of you. A channel, I believe it's from the PRC, called REAL FR0S7 or REAL FROS7, has a number of video shorts under the combined title of "Savages." They depict a brutally realistic image of near future space warfare.
Due to language difficulties (I don't speak ANY Chinese dialects ), I can't really follow the action, but the visuals so much more than make up for it that I can't recommend these videos highly enough.

Well, considering we are expected to reach the threshold for the kessler syndrome in 20250 I figure that count as fiction...

you know, I was watching Bedknobs and Broomsticks with some younger family members and what was surprising...
The German raiding party was actually pretty competant, which is unusual in films in general, much less a children's film about a witch.
1. They had a limited goal--basically shoot up the local defense force, then get out before anyone else could show up, as a way to show the UK couldn't protect its civilians.
2. When the possessed armor showed up, they opened fire, maintained discipline, but fairly quickly retreated in the face of an unstoppable force.
3. Quickly realized that however surreal, the woman on the broomstick was controlling the armor, and tried to shoot her down.
4. Even after facing possessed magic armor, they maintained the presence of mind to destroy everything they couldn't take with them, before retreating to the submarine.

Well written fiction and fantasy that's aimed at a younger audience will include elements for their parents to enjoy. Classic Disney included this. Any comments I'd like to make about recent Disney products in this regard will see me fed to alligators.

HIGH POTENTIAL: This is an ABC show available on HULU. It is a copy of a French show. A woman with a very high IQ, awesome memory for everything she ever read, and incredible powers of observation serves as a consultant to the police in solving tough cases. Highly recommended.

SILO: An end of the world series on APPLE+ about an underground silo containing 10,000 survivors of some kind of war or plague or other disaster. Lots of mystery and politics as leaders try to keep order and suppress facts. Twenty episodes are on streaming and they just got renewed for the final 20 episodes. Very high recommended.

>> HIGH POTENTIAL
SVC isn't saying the show has high potential, that is actually the name of the show. That wasn't immediately clear to me...

I finally had a chance to sit down and watch Twisters. Great movie, but as a retired weather forecaster, I had to turn my brain off.

THE DEVIL CONSPIRACY
Free on YouTube.
Minions of Lucifer try to give him a body to inhabit so he can go to Earth, but no human body can hold that much power. So the minions come up with the idea of cloning a special body from old DNA. A priest gives his own body to Archangel Michael, who uses it to try to save Earth. Then things get really weird.
Described as Rosemary’s Baby Reads The DaVinci Code Too Close To Bedtime, it’s a religious sci-fi horror romp. It was filmed in the Czech Republic because, well, yeah, of course it was. Lots of CGI, swords, and mayhem. It cost five million to make and grossed one million.

Jean and Albert announced that they had sold their pilot script for a new crime solving TV series of Paramount. To be called THE CRIME GAME, this tell the story of a police detective played by Carrie Underwood who is assigned to work with a famous RPG designer (played by Joe Machi) who created a hit crime-solving game that the governor's nephew thought was cool. Since the governor (a recurring role by Chris Noth) only won re-election because of his nephew's campaign on Tiktok (played in rare appearances by Barron Trump), he owed the kid.

No such script. Just a very, very sick Jean.

So you won't be using your influence to select the company that does THE CRIME GAME:The Game?
We won't be getting Carrie Underwood's THE CRIME GAME:The Album?
At my age I should probably do without the sugared corn pops that would be THE CRIME GAME: The Breakfast Cereal!

MISSION STARDUST
This 1967 science fiction film is noted for good music and clunky special effects. Shot in Germany with a Swedish actress, it was dubbed into various languages including English. It has been uploaded to YouTube several times by people who probably have no rights to it. Some modern producer could do a lot worse than to reshoot it with modern CGI. It is based a German novel that was part of a series, others of which might be shootable.
Some kind of international space agency sends the space ship Stardust to the moon to check out scans that showed the presence of valuable metals. Various translations indicate this is more powerful than uranium or maybe stronger than titanium. The mission is secret because of the potential treasure. However, a criminal mastermind is plotting to seize the ship and treasure. Landing on the moon, the crew experienced electromagnetic jamming. Exploring for the treasure on the backside of the moon, they find an alien spaceship. Meeting the aliens, they find them human but somehow more evolved. The alien ship is damaged and the crew had no real idea how to fix it. One of the aliens has leukemia, which one doctor on Earth knows how to cure. The astronauts decide to take the aliens to Earth to meet the doctor and cure the alien without contacting their own command because anyone who gets their hands on alien technology would control the Earth. The shuttle lands, fights the local military, meets the doctor, then the criminal mastermind. Here and there are mysogynist moments that would not fly today, such as grabbing the alien lady and kissing her without permission, but that happened in lots of 1960s films.

GEO-DISASTER
Free on YouTube.
This is another science-fiction movie by people who flunked high school science class but never looked at their report cards so they didn't know they didn't know what they were doing.
An observatory spots a blob of "dark matter" headed for Earth. (uh-huh) It hits Alaska and blows a hole a mile wide through the entire Earth and out the other side. (uh-huh) This causes massive earthquakes (duh) and a tsunami (right). Worse, the magma in the center of the Earth flows upward and out the holes. The heat causes vortexes and crazy weather patterns (sure). Even worse, the magma is magnetic and results in huge electrical storms (wait, what?) that rage from one end of the hole to the other through the atmosphere.
During all of this, typical Dad takes son camping so they can discuss their grief over the loss of the wife/mother and the strain caused by Dad marrying a younger woman. Meanwhile, at home, StepMom and the two teenage daughters try to get in touch with their feelings as their apartment building collapses around them. They escape into the lighting storm and tsunami, and ignore long-standing instructions to wait for dad at home. They are able to find a short-wave radio in a conveniently looted store and contact Dad's humvee to arrange to meet. The ladies steal a vehicle and ride like the wind to escape the tsunami but stop at the foot of a hill, abandon the still running vehicle, and run up the road to the top of the hill...

ELEVATION
Available on Max
Three years before the movie, sinkholes and other geological things opened all over the planet and "reapers" crawled out. They are the size of elephants, mean as heck, faster than humans, bulletproof, can detect CO2 from human breath, kill humans just to kill them not to feed, do not kill other animals, and don't destroy stuff except to get at humans. Some 99% of the human race dies. The rest discover that if you climb a mountain above 8000 feet, the reapers will stop chasing you and just growl at you. Humans know that they are more or less doomed to eventual death but try subsistence farming and hope something changes and go "below the line" only when they are really desperate to get some specific supply. Short on electricity, the hilltop enclaves work out a system of flag signals so they don't have to use the radio. In some of the hilltop hideouts, there is a scientist or a soldier or someone else who keeps trying to find a way to kill the reapers. The story focuses on Nina (an astonishing out of type performance by Morena Baccarin) who thinks if she can get to her lab (in the danger zone) she can mix up something to kill reapers and Will (a single father who needs medical supplies for his son). Will thinks he knows a less risky way into Boulder to get everything they need. This is an surprisingly good movie worth watching.
