REMINDER: No Papers have ever been published (or even submitted) for this system. It is wide open, so this is your chance to get your tactics published and be widely admired for your tactical acumen, or at least your low-cunning! Submit your papers now and avoid the rush to be published in Captain's Log #48!

Use your Marines dammit!
Terry O'Carroll, HMAS New South Wales
[NOVA edition] Crippled enemy ships are ideal targets for Marine capture attempts. Cripples will have lost about half their Marines and be less able to escape or fight. It's also a cheap kill, since you can use your Marines (and probes!) without reducing the weapons fire from the boarding ship. Be careful, because your movement will tend to telegraph your intentions. Also, if the boarding ship fires early in the initiative order, it may be vulnerable to counter-boarding (since many of its Marines will be used up). Fire too late, and you may have your own ship destroyed before it can board the target. This is best attempted when you can get multiple ships close to an isolated enemy ship.

Overwhelm the ESGs
Terry O'Carroll, HMAS New South Wales
[NOVA edition] Lyran ESGs will reduce the effects of seeking weapon attacks by three points (effectively, negate one hit) per ESG. If you must launch seekers at a target with active ESGs, then the best way to do it is to concentrate on one target per turn with a massive attack. That will overwhelm the ESG's defensive capacity and let damage through.
Hydran Stingers can combine with hellbores to beat the ESG. If a Lyran ship uses its ESGs offensively to attack Stingers in an adjacent hex, it will lose its protection against hellbores. If it does not attack the Stingers before they can fire, they are likely to do more damage than the hellbore.

There has been a delay in the release of Captain's Log #48. For this reason, SVC has directed that the pool for submissions be reopened and extended to 16 December 2013. Any Armada Insights submitted between now and that date will be considered for Captain's Log #48. Any Armada Insights submitted after 16 December will be considered for Captain's Log #49.

Reminder, December 16 is the closeout for submissions.
