So... none of that was sent to us and so it's not clear any of it was fixed in the books we're selling? Is that what you're saying?
Want to email me the fixes so I can see if we have a current book or not?
I vaguely remember at some point we got files from Daniel, but the precise sequence of events escapes me.

Steve,
Email is now sent.

SVC said "He helped Daniel Kast finish converting the last two Starmada books to Nova" Does that mean they will be printing and for sale soon?
By Paul Franz (Andromedan) on Monday, August 20, 2012 - 04:13 pm: Edit |
I am not sure how soon is "soon". But they are moving closer to being available. Daniel just did a post asking for help with reviewing the ship cards. I will be looking at the Alien Armada ones tonight.

Not really sure on that one.
On the right hand, we need to send them to the wholesalers before we send them to mail order, and they're too small to send alone, so they have to wait for the next SFB/FC release.
On the left hand, I have no clue when that will be, at least September and maybe October.
On the gripping hand, the wholesalers are going to order about eight copies total so I'm not sure I really care if the mail orders go two months earlier.

From the recently-posted schedule update:
Quote:STARMADA
I am not sure what Daniel will do next. His battleship book that we just released ended up absorbing most of FC: Transports Attacked. There are 40 ships in Reinforcements Attack but some of them may have already been done.
I vaguely remember he had some kind of campaign or strategic book.
I should note that Daniel delivers work so nearly complete that his products barely count against the total work we do. So we might get all three and count them as taking up the equivalent work of one spot.

Why would rules only be done for one of his two game systems?
Ya know, I had forgotten about W&P when I wrote the schedule.
By Gary Carney (Nerroth) on Tuesday, March 19, 2013 - 02:57 pm: Edit |
I was under the impression that Daniel's intent was to shift future releases exclusively to Nova. If the Admiralty version of Star Fleet Starmada is to remain active, well and good.
Could the Middle Years ships from Booster #91 and Briefing #2 also be candidates?
And in the longer term, once MJ12 fully catch up with FC, would other settings (such as Omega or the Early Years) be up for consideration?

Under other circumstances, other possibilities would exist.

Hello,
Do we have an ETA on the PDF of Battleships? It's been out for a few months in the dead tree version and I'm holding out for the dead electron version and I'd like send you money.
Thanks,

As noted above, this got lost and is being worked on now. Might appear next week.

Is there any news from Daniel as to what module he wants to do next?
With the ISC already previewed in CL47, that would just leave the Vudar and Andromedans to work up, so far as the War and Peace empires go. (Or just the Andros, if the Vudar can be previewed in CL48.)
Depending on the kind of design time Daniel might need to get the Andromedans ready, could a module combining W&P and Reinforcements Attack be an option; or would there need to be another module scheduled first before those empires can be gotten around to?

According to the Starmada news in CL49, the next module for both Admiralty and Nova editions will translate the FC:War and Peace empires to these game systems.
Is there any room still available for certain candidate ships, to include a few which (for now, at least) are in SFB only?
Specifically, I wanted to ask if the Andromedan Desecrator starbase from Module C2 and the Devastator battleship from Module R5 could be considered here, along with the four Dissection Beam-armed Mothership variants (Extractor, Incisor, Dissector, and Devourer) from Module C3A.
Given Starmada's increased emphasis on larger fleet actions, a level of engagement at which the "standard" timeline Andromedans in SFB or FC tend to struggle, perhaps this may be a good opportunity for these larger hulls to be of use - not least in order to allow players to experiment with life over in the Darwin's "dark future" timeline.
Plus, back in the "standard" timeline, the Desecrator would allow players to play out the culminating battle of Operation Unity - or perhaps uncover the site at which that incomplete Devastator was still under construction.
(On a side note, I'd argue that once the time comes to do the Andros for version 1.2 of ACtA:SF, that game system might also benefit from seeing the Desecrator and the "dark future" Motherships brought to the forefront, since that game system also suits a larger scale of game play.)

Disclaimer: this is not in any way an official comment; ADB makes these decisions. I'm just commenting based on my familiarity with the previous releases.
Gary, I'd expect the same pattern as we have seen for previous books: the ships included will be the same ships as have been published for FC in War & Peace. That will fit in with the support products (especially miniatures) already available for War & Peace. I would imagine that any ships not available for FC will (probably) not make the cut.
By Gary Carney (Nerroth) on Saturday, September 06, 2014 - 12:02 am: Edit |
Terry:
That has indeed been the case up to now. But the Sar Fleet Starmada series is coming awfully close to catching up with the range of FC modules currently in print, or at least those with colour laminated Ship Cards in them.
While other FC products exist to draw upon (such as Briefing #2, if Daniel Kast was minded to go "back" to the Middle Years), the time may soon arrive when future books may have to look beyond to see what might be worth porting over from SFB directly.
So I thought it may be as well to ask if the door could be left slightly ajar for certain Andromedan candidate units in this next volume, or if that kind of material would instead have to wait until, or unless, the decision is made to more fully open that door going forward.

Not certain if this is the right place, but where are the andro rules for starmada ships included?

To my knowledge, Andros for Starmada have only just appeared in CL #50.
By Steve Cole (Stevecole) on Friday, April 10, 2015 - 08:45 pm: Edit |
They are scheduled for the new product RUMORS OF WARS which includes the Vudar, ISC, and Andros. All of those were in Captain's Log and all of them need to be playtested.

In light of the recent news posted elsewhere on the BBS (and discussed elsewhere), would I be right in guessing that Rumors of Wars is now planned to be the first SFU Starmada volume to be drawn up solely for the upcoming Unity Edition?
If so, that would be somewhat apt, given the name of a certain operation which involved all three of the empires involved...
In any case, I hope that the creation of Unity would allow for an opportunity to integrate the kind of rules which would make the game system fit more neatly in the Star Fleet Universe - akin to how version 1.2 of A Call to Arms: Star Fleet made a bold leap forward in this regard for that game system.
Also, I might hope that this would also allow for Rumors of Wars to take a fresh look at how to integrate the Andromedans. Personally speaking, I was not overly in agreement with the options presented for the Andros for Admiralty and Nova in Captain's Log #50; hopefully the third time (or system) will be the charm!
(For one thing, if faceted shielding were to be factored in for Alpha Octant starships in Unity Edition, I would like to see hemispheric PA panels for the appropriate Andromedan units, if possible.)
By Steve Cole (Stevecole) on Wednesday, March 15, 2017 - 02:02 pm: Edit |
Yes, Rumors of Wars will be the first done for Unity and only done for Unity.
Unity does bring the Starmada rules closer to SFU canon.
I am not aware of any problems relating to the Andros but if you email me a memo I'll forward it to Daniel. That does not mean that either of us tell him what to do.

Any word on the future release of Unity SFU products? I initially checked the Starmada page on your website for news but noticed it doesn't even mention the Unity releases at all.
Been playing SFB since 1991 and my current group plays the mother game for scenarios where we each only control one ship and Fed-Com when we each control 2 or 3 vessels. For anything bigger then that we have found the Unity ruleset works great (after not being overly fond of Admiral and skipping Nova) and are looking forward to future releases to finish covering the races.
