I lost my rules after learning the basics and had to make things up as I went along. If I do 6 damage to the fighters do they do any damage to me?

If I do 12 damage to the PFs do they do any damage to me?

No, if you kill the fighters/PFs before they fire, then they don't get to fire.

(Obviously, the same thing happens with ship-based fighters, but they wouldn't do damage anyway.)

One thing I've always disliked about the game is the unlimited nature of carrier-based fighters. Even if I have a handful of phasers and shoot down every one of your fighters. Next turn you'll just launch more unless I can knock out your carrier.

Troy: If you do six points of damage to a carrier-based fighter squadron, it gets marked off the ship card.

Really? What page is that rule on?

Rule is on page 15 in the paragraph marked F5: FIGHTER LOSSES:.

I can't find a general topic to place this in, but I want to say that I got a group of three other people to try SFBF last week. All of them enjoyed it, and one even borrowed it for a git-together over at someone else's apartment. First round we played a very basic game: 4 ships each, all in screen (no movement), no cloak, no web, no reserve cards, no reinforcements. In round 2 we went up to full rules except for the fact I forgot about reserve cards. That game worked out well, with everyone gleefully blowing the, ah, crud out of everyone else. A quickly seized upon tactic was leaving a cloak/web ship as your only screen. One player got some 7 of the first 10 reinforcements cards which was good because he was constantly down to 2-3 ships at all times. Politicking was common. The Archaeopteryx launched the most fighter attacks of any carrier (the others haven't played SFU games before and thus didn't find that as funny as I did). We eventually ran out of shipyard cards and started pulling battle trophies. We ran out of time because at the end the three survivors had a decent-sized cloaked ship remaining which slowed down the game. Curiously, in this game as opposed to every other I have played, the PF card was not only fired upon, it was killed every time it was played. And, as good things go, my friends want to play again.

Is there, will there be, a Battle Force on-line?
