I have been interested in expansions for SFBF, but I know there is always that problem of capital. I know that for the most part only some of the people who bought the main game will buy an expansion, yet the cost to develop and print cards is high.
Fantasy Flight is moving to make expansions for its card game using print on demand. See this review: http://geek-news.mtv.com/2011/05/03/impressions-death-angel-card-game-print-on-demand-expansions/
This may be a way for ADB to go.
The cards are nice. There are several POD card makers. Perhaps a deal could bring the cost down a little because you can deliver more sales than some unknown.
Here are two card POD makers:

I really like superior pod because they do POD die cut 5/8" and 1" counters for wargames.

I know about superior pod and already have an email in their in box asking for info.

The only real problem is the article on the Fantasy Flight cards is it says they are significantly thinner and not intended to be shuffled into a real deck.

I don't go by articles, but by samples. We'll see what those look like.

Just to point out, I actually bought Space Hulk: Death Angel for me and my wife to play (as weird as that statement is). Not the expansion, the base set. The cards are not like those of SFBF, or Magic, or most other games. They are more flexible, and have a "fabric" like texture to them. The store owner called it "linen texture." I don't know how they could be thinner in the POD expansion as these are thin, but however they are made makes them rugged. But they are not anything like playing cards.
Anyway, I can see why the POD can't shuffle in. No POD makes cards like this.

As an off topic: This Space Hulk: Death Angel is cool. But this game is also an example of how to NOT write a manual. OMG. I have been on forums and FAQs just to figure out how the game plays. The game is not hard... but the rules do its best to make it hard.

Sounds like the one I picked up at Origins: Godzilla - Kaiju World Wars.
Its a great, fun, beer & pretzels game, but the manual must has been written in Lower Urdu, converted to French with Babel Fish (patent pending), sent to America via morse code, received by a Boy Scout who then used semaphores to forward it on to the publisher... who, BTW transcribed it to Gregg shorthand before giving it to the printer.
The printer then used the local high school short-hand class to produce a longhand version which was then manually typeset by the oldest living typesetter in KY before being proofread by a semi-literate native of Applachia.
It was then printed and packaged in the game.

I have Death Angel and the expansions...
The original cards are thin... thinner than 110# stock. And have a linen-finish texture. It reduces glare a good bit. I'd estimate about 80-90# stock.
The expansions are just a bit thinner, smooth texture. Very comparable to the typical SJG stock. Glossy, full bleed.
They do stand out due to texture differences. Unless one sleeves them.
And most people I know sleeve their cards for just about all non-traditional cards.

I don't know how cost effective this would be for SFBF but Drive-thru Cards are printing cards now. http://www.drivethrucards.com/dtcardsgrandopen.php?src=DTCardsGrandBlast

Our Fed Cmdr group was small this last week so we tried out SFBF. A good time was had by all and we would be interested in seeing expansions if they are a cost effective product for ADB.

I was of the Battle force page and noted tha the links to the Fed battle cruiser card and the Klingone D7 do not seem to be working.

I can't remember if ADB was even working with DrivethruRPG/ Wargame Vault two years ago, but they are still printing on demand cards. Is this a way to get expansion SFBF cards into print?

Worth exploring, but then, I have more good things to pursue than time to pursue them, and nobody else who works here has more free time than I do.

Has anyone ever used DriveThruCards to print the SFBF cards from Captain's Log?
How did they turn out?
How did you get the art into the correct format for printing?
Do you still have the art?
Has anyone ever used DriveThruCards for anything else?

I need to get "do something for SFBF using Drive Through Cards" on my master TO DO list, but not before Hawaii. Jean would smack me for chasing Shiny Objects.
