Love how these turned out. Bruce and the mold-makers outdid themselves.

Heads up for those mini users that use the mini stands or marker tokens from the company Corsec Engineering, which unfortunately is closing down.

I've posted it over on the Federation Commander forum also.

So all of my 2500 scale ships arrived yesterday. I am probably going to be using them for ACTASF. The Klingon and Romulan fleet boxes each had two additional resin vessels so I have two more C8s and two more Condors.

I will probably try to mod them into some other vessels. Anyone have any suggestions for good vessels to use in ACTASF? I'd love to do a C8S but fighters are not in the rules and I suspect they won't be for a while. In fact a lot of the available variants are Space Control Ships or CVs.

I could do a Condor H...

Does ADB sell parts for the 2500 range models? I have some Federation models that are missing their dish arrays.

By Steve Cole (Stevecole) on Sunday, May 09, 2021 - 07:25 pm: Edit

We do not but let me ask where you got ships with missing dishes.

By Zac Belado (Pixelgeek) on Sunday, May 09, 2021 - 08:37 pm: Edit

I bought them from a local gamer who bought them from Mongoose. Three fleet packs. He assembled some f the Fed cruisers and a dreadnought and those are the ones missing the dishes. I suspect they got left of his workbench and lost when he packed them up.

All the other ships were packed with them.

So its not a packing problem from Mongoose..

Let me ask Mike if there are any loose ones.

Thanks

Okay, we have a small quantity of surplus dishes. I can sell them "six for $1". You can order them on the cart by ordering "MISC $1" and using special instructions to tell Leanna what you want. Tell her that the dishes are in a ziplock bag on my desk and to come ask me for them.

Done and dine.

Thanks

Drat, I wasn't quick enough to buy those first, and sell them to Zac for $2.00.

What am I bid for Zack's dishes?

Question for whomever did the 3-d modelling of the Shapeways King Condor (3125) or owns one:

Where are the PL-D racks depicted on the hull? I'm looking at the 3-d rotatable depiction on their site and can';t pick them out. I'm assuming that the boxlike structures at the wing roots are the shuttle bays...

I'm hoping to knock the painting of the one I have on order out of the park, good enough for Jean and ADB's advertising.

TRICK OR TREAT SALE ON SELECTED 2500 MINIS

These are perfectly good ships, not factory seconds, we just had too many of a couple of dozen designs. Most are about half price, a few are more or less than half.

By Dal Downing (Rambler) on Saturday, September 10, 2022 - 08:25 am: Edit

Are there any plans to add more metal Tholians to the line? Would love to get at least a PC and a Pol. I could kitbash C, CW, and D with those as building blocks.

Or do I need to just get them from Shapeways because they are low volume sellers?

By Steve Cole (Stevecole) on Saturday, September 10, 2022 - 12:37 pm: Edit

There will be no more metal minis. They do not sell well enough, and we lost money on the last six or eight we did. There is no ship left not done that would sell enough copies to be worth doing.

That said, times change, and it's not impossible that some future market might not be amenable to use things, but not that I can see.

Since the June launch of Tenneshington Decals' new product-lines, we've continued to add decal sets for new ships. Added since then are the CVo "flatbed" Operational Carrier (in 3788, 3125, and 7000 scales), along with the CVA heavy fleet carrier, CF fast cruiser, and DDF fast destroyer (in 3788 and 3125 scales). We'll continue to add more ships, in the coming months.

Picture of the new sets posted on Imgur.

How smooth are the Shapeways models in White Natural Versatile Plastic? I've heard that models from Shapeways can be very bumpy and rough unless you spend $30+ per model. Is this the case?

By Jean Sexton Beddow (Jsexton) on Thursday, October 27, 2022 - 02:21 pm: Edit

The minis in that material are not smooth. Many folks get them because they are good for actual play. Smooth Fine Detail Plastic is great for painting. The Multi-Jet Fusion Plastic is a good compromise for smoothness and price.

The Federation and Klingon ships are so expensive because in the detail plastic the pricing by Shapeways is by the plastic in the ship or the amount of space they take in an imaginary box around the mini -- whichever is more.

I would strongly advise going with the 3788-scale ships simply because you have the same amount of detail, but they generally they cost less because they are smaller. (The exception is when they hit the minimum price set by Shapeways.)

By Kimberly Todaro (Mindirix) on Thursday, October 27, 2022 - 05:36 pm: Edit

Thank you Jean! I'll likely take your suggestion on 3788, but I have a lot to think about when it comes to the rest.

By Jean Sexton Beddow (Jsexton) on Friday, October 28, 2022 - 05:28 pm: Edit

My suggestion is to order one of the small ships in the three materials and compare them.
