What are the major rules changes from the old book? Anyone?

The Confederate Navy is coming back from its 7 year mission to the galactic core. We met many interesting folks, the folks of gamma sigma ceti 8 were most helpful and we were happy to help destroy the crazed gray dudes at the center of the galaxy, their lack of Drone Defenses was truly remarkable, as was their homage to something called a "Miker". The trip back has been rather boring since everyone was either our friend or scrap.
The ships need refitting, repainting and the crews need R&R. Plus, our X FITTED HVS "CSS ALABAMA" is in serious need of obtaining some new stores of Sweet Tea and Pecan Pie. Those bugs really know how to eat.
Somehow, our Corp office has drifted to upstate NY in our absence from our Fl home, the positional stabilizers must have been offline. It will take some time getting used to the Yankees and the weather.
Ah, there's our Home now.............
Time to check our inbox.

Any players interested in an Historical game? Still have slots open on both sides! See the Historical Games link for more info.
Also looking for Hardcore players interested in a Fast-Turn game (one week cycle).
Volunteers write my email "mr.bluedragon*at*yahoo.com" with your preferences or input.

I propose a "fast" tournament game.
1 week turnaround (9 players)
165 start
name your sector special (only in HOs)
event game
1500 points to start
no monster in HO
All sectors wild including HOs
30 turn cycle, standard points win.

i am hoping Paul will post a notice in the upcoming turns that we want to start a fast-turn game and an Historical. lets wait to see how many players we can muster before we set terms. i like some of your ideas. you want to play a historical? so far i have 3 players doing 2 corps each (i am fed, kirk and jeff are coalition but races undecided). anyone wanting to play either game email me "mr.bluedragon-AT-yahoo.com"

Lloyd, these terms are pretty standard for a Tourney game. I do not believe you were around while these were being played. They were pretty intense.
I have played a number of Historical games and they never end well. Someone always quits and that kills the game, so I will stay clear of those.

Kirk and Jeff are committed to-the-end players. they understand what is involved which is why they choose to take two corps. i know you are the same way which is why you'd be a good member. let me know if you change you mind. do you think it would help members complete a game if we were all to put some funds into a prize pool(pre-game)? maybe $10 per corp (turns credits)? prize pool goes to the winning team.

Gene,
btw...where are you in DH30? it would be good to have another ally in that game.
By Gene Malin (Privateer) on Saturday, January 28, 2012 - 03:14 pm: Edit |
Hi Lloyd,
Unfortunately I have a number of allies already and my hit zones are staked out.
If we run into each other later on, and we can do something we will talk then.

I have a Hypothetical question to throw out about turn sequence and last move to recapture your HO.
A "friend" of mine is about to be knocked out of the game.
For brevity sake, let's call my "friend" UH, and his attacker BR.
Based on the turn cycle UH's turn will run before BR's who is two hexes away (more or less) from his HO.
The way my "friend" sees it is that:
Turn 17
UH moves/builds
BR builds and moves knocking out UH
Turn 18
UH has time move to retake his HO or is OUT.
The reason this question comes up is that my friend (UH), is considering scraping everything he has (even at his HO) and building on a Cloaked WG near his Opponent's HO on turn 17 before BR can do anything about it, and using the turn 18 move as a total surprise attack.
Are you allowed to move ships not on or near there HO on the last move?

I have a question. If you have Automatic Counter Espionage, how do you get spied on?
By Paul Franz (Andromedan) on Wednesday, February 13, 2013 - 05:36 pm: Edit |
Gene,
If a player has the "Spy Ring" Sector Special he can still spy on you.
By Paul Franz (Andromedan) on Wednesday, February 13, 2013 - 05:49 pm: Edit |
Ken,
There is nothing stopping your "friend" from carrying out such a plan.

Hello All, How long is a turn in SFW? That is, how many days does a player have between the submission of orders?

Generally two weeks.

Paul, can we delete these five year old posts?
Could you make a new post with current download links?
