Look what is coming January 5: The Klingon D5K War Cruiser!
The Klingon Deep Space Fleet commissioned a special study to determine if the D7 battlecruiser class could be made more efficient by the introduction of new technology, such as anti-drones. Of the various proposals, the one from the Kozenko Design Bureau (known by their designation KDB-1104) was the most interesting and the most radical. The Aztek panels on the outer surfaces represent efforts to reduce the electronic signature of the D5K and match it to the D5B so the enemy could not tell the difference.
Typical of war cruisers, the D5K had 90% of the firepower of a D7 for 62% of the cost. War cruisers were, across the Alpha Octant, light cruisers with the armament of heavy cruisers, something possible only because no one expected them to survive in combat for their nominal 10-year service life to expire. These became the most-produced cruisers of the General War.

Jean should start the release sequence in a few minutes. There are 61 ships uploaded and itemized which just need to be released, but it will take 1d6 minutes per ship to release them. Given that we had 409 in the store since last month, this will bring us to 470. In theory at the current rate getting to 1000 ships by 1 Dec 2018 won't be a problem, in reality we'll start running out of easy things to do by summer. But then I never thought we'd keep this pace as long as we have.

Metal and precious metal minis are expensive, and some of the materials (steel) require thicker parts which make them unsuited for models this size. Metal minis easily climb past $100 for aluminium or basic bronze, not to mention the time needed to maintain the storefront pages would skyrocket.
Not speaking for ADB, but there's also the issue of someone ordering a nice bronze mini and using it as a master mold to mass produce their own line of ships. I know a few model makers that have had designs swiped and resold after allowing a metal print to be made.

ADB Announces Surprise April 1 Ship Release
The only things that are April Fool's about this are the ships themselves. Using one of them in a game requires permission from the opponent's girlfriend (or mother, sister, child, sibling, significant other, or other potentially bribable person designated by the opponent).
The Gorn Bubble Dreadnought (both regular and refitted) was too big for the shipyards unless tugs or light tactical transports were used to move the bubbles around. Add to that it had too many places where it could break and it remains a dream.
The Wyn Auxiliary Heavy Mauler was a myth (or is it?) perpetuated by the WYNs. It would certainly put a dampener on an intruder's day.
The Kzinti Tri-Maran earned its designer a quick execution for suggesting the Lyrans might have had a cool idea to be copied.
The Tholian Crown of Tholia was deemed far too expensive in parts to build. One large, unwieldy ship isn't necessarily better than the five ships that could be assembled from the same parts.
We hope you enjoy these ships -- and that the bribes don't break the bank!

ADB Releases Ships for April!
On April 2, 2018, Amarillo Design Bureau completed its 11th wave of ships (48 in all, for nearly 700 available ships) in its shop on Shapeways.
The Federation gains its Strike Carrier in both the "regular" and "Fed Classic" (started in response to requests for smooth saucers) versions.
The Klingons aren't neglected. They get their D7VB Strike Carrier and D7VK Refitted Strike Carrier.
The Romulans add the OmniHawk Light Dreadnought, OmniHawk+ Light Dreadnought, Shrike Light Dreadnought, KRC Command Cruiser (obvious changes include a belly bird, scallops on the wings, and Romulan insignia), and KRC Command Cruiser (smooth, with no belly bird, no scallops on the wings, and no Romulan insignia for easier application of decals). The "+" indicates it is a late-war design in the style of the Starline 2500 Romulan ships.
The Gorns get their Compsognathus Frigate, Compsognathus+ Frigate (refitted), Compsognathus-B Battle Frigate, and Compsognathus-B+ Battle Frigate(refitted).
The Kzintis get their Battle Frigate.
The Juggernaut fleet was built in another galaxy and sent to check us out. The Juggernaut Frigate is the smallest of the ships that were built that Milky Way residents have documented to this point.
The Lyrans and their wayward county of the Lyran Democratic Republic get their Cave Lion Battleship. The Lyrans also get their refitted Leopard Destroyer and Panther Light Cruiser in 3788 Scale.
The Hydrans gain their Escort Lancer, Outrider Survey Ship, and Uhlan Patrol Carrier.
The Space Amoeba makes its appearance. The small Space Amoeba is about 2"; the medium Space Amoeba is about 4"; the large Space Amoeba is about 6".
Empires from the Omega Octant continue to have new additions. The Bolosco Merchant Guilds are introduced with their Merchant Cruiser and Exchanger, which is their frigate-sized ship.
Don’t forget our nine April 1 ships! ADB Announces 1/285 Scale Release
To celebrate one year of having our shop on Shapeways, Amarillo Design Bureau has decided to release a new scale of miniatures. We believe that the 285 Scale is a good one for people who want to use fighters or bombers for dogfights or shuttles for role-playing games. They will also be good display models for you to show off your favorite paint schemes. To give you a good selection, we are releasing 20 ships.
The Federation gains its F-15 "Eagle" Fighter, F-14 "Tomcat" Fighter, F-18 "Hornet" Fighter, and A-20 "Avenger" Heavy Fighter.
The Klingons enter with their Z-H "Zerhon" Heavy Fighter, Z-Y Fighter, and Z-1 "Zoran" Fighter.
The Romulans have their Gladiator-D Superiority Fighter, Tribune-D Heavy Fighter, and Gladiator-IIIK Assault Fighter.
The Hydrans have their Stinger-2 and Stinger-H fighters.
The Gorns get their G-12 "Chimera" Fast Fighter as well as both the G-18-K and G-18-KA "Serpent" fighters.
The Kzintis have their TAAS Fighter.
The Tholians are well represented with their Spider-II Fighter, Spider-V Fast Heavy Fighter, and Spider-H Bomber.
There is even an Admin Shuttle to ferry passengers and goods to and from places.

ADB Releases Ships for October!
On October 1, 2018, ADB released 59 new items to its shop on Shapeways, bringing the total items in its shop to over 1,100. One of the highlights is the introduction of a new force: the Inter-Stellar Concordium. They have three of their most popular ships to start an echelon.
The Federation gains its War Destroyer in both the "regular" and "Fed Classic" (smooth body) versions.
The Klingons get their G2 Police Cutter and E3 Escort.
The Romulans get their Fast SparrowHawk and Fast SparrowHawk+ Light Cruiser as well as their Screech Owl Heavy Scout.
The Tholians gain the mighty Neo-Tholian Battleship and Light Tactical Transport. We also added a 3125 Scale Cargo Patrol Corvette with a pod to match the existing 3788 Scale one.
The Gorns get their Battle Destroyer Scout, in the regular and refitted versions. They also gain the G-7 Shenyang Fighter in the new 285 Scale.
The Kzintis get their Heavy War Destroyer. They also get their Large Fast Attack Shuttle Killer and their Heavy Bomber in both Omni and 285 scales. In addition, they gain empire-specific jumbo and heavy freighters.
The Orion Pirates add three more ships in our shop. Joining their fleet are the Double Raider, Salvage Cruiser, and Heavy Cruiser.
The Lyrans and their wayward county of the Lyran Democratic Republic get the Mountain Lion which is a powerful destroyer made from the center section of a dreadnought.
The Hydrans get their Caravan Tug with cargo pallets and their Caravan Battle Tug.
The Inter-Stellar Concordium can start enforcing peace among the empires with three of their ships: the Destroyer, Light Cruiser, and Star Cruiser which is their heavy cruiser.
Many empires can wreak havoc with the 285 Scale Scatter-Pack Shuttle that is released this month.
Empires from the Omega Octant continue to have new additions. The Worb are introduced with their Heavy Cruiser and Heavy Destroyer.
We have released two more space dragons that are to be feared by any wise ship captain. These are the Ancient Male and Ancient Female space dragons who could easily overwhelm any ship short of a battleship.

Due to customer feedback and Shapeways suggestions, we have removed Hi-Def Black Acrylate as a material choice for all of our minis. Your feedback told us that the underside of the larger ships was marred by the support system the material needs, obscuring the detail that the ships had. We were not happy that you were not happy with the results.
Shapeways technicians informed us that sprued ships such as our gunboats and fighters do not print reliably in one piece. Rather than have you be disappointed and your order cancelled, we decided to drop that material for these as well.
Our main interest is that you are satisfied with what you get from our shop on Shapeways. While we really wanted this material to work, it didn't meet our expectations. We hope you understand.
