While a number of Federation, Orion, Klingon, Lyran, and ISC species miniatures might also be usable for the Federal Republic of Aurora, I wonder if it may one day be an option to add a handful of the more prominent "RPG-able" Omega Octant species.
For example, the humanoid Tazol, bat-like Wallimi, and wolf-like Vulpa (as shown here) could represent the bulk of the Mæsron Alliance - and, in the case of the Vulpa, could additionally cover the Vulpa insurgents and/or the ethnically Vulpa Nucian Clans (as described here), alongside "Mæsron-loyalist" Vulpa individuals.
Other major Omega species would include the jellyfish-like Koligahr, the silicate Trobrin, the arachnid Vari, or the salamander-like Probr. While one or more of the "adventurous" species in the broader Omega setting, such as the otter-like Iridani, could be useful also.
On a side note, it may be worth trying to figure out what the Zosman species actually looks like, before considering whether or not they could fit the "pirate" role in an Omega RPG campaign.
Of course, any Andromedan, Jindarian, or Paravian miniatures done for Alpha Octant use could be seconded for Omega usage also. As might any Federation member species not present at Aurora at the time of its disappearance, yet which served aboard the Star Fleet advanced galactic survey cruiser NCC-1821 USS Sakharov during its historic mission to and from the Omega Octant.
Plus, there's always the possibility that one or more members of certain vulnerable species could, in fact, be hosts for a fresh wave of Sigvirion infection... (A Sig group could be comprised of quite a diverse mix, even without any Ashani or Cortlizan host bodies in sight.)
Oh, and for my own sake, I would consider collecting a selection of Auroran and Mæsron individuals, plus an Iridani Questor or few.

I am up for making anything! Heck, I almost made a Worb working on the ships last night. But I think Jean would kill me if I made Omega races before the ISC, lol.

You aren't understanding the tactical brilliance of the mini-skirt uniforms. They are like the opposite of camouflage, meant to draw the enemy's attention and distract them. While they are focused on Yeoman Rand... that is the time to strike!

For the Star Fleet figures, do you the people like the high boots as I have done, or would the preference be more toward the TOS look where it's closer to the ankle?

Closer to the ankle.

Ankle for trousers, would have to see both on the miniskirts.

Miniskirts would be if the boot is knee high or thigh high.

so how many BEM's are you thinking of doing ..............oops sorry, how many Hydrans?.
personally I use two scales of figures, 6mm and 28mm.... 28mm Hydrans (drooling sounds!.).
By Matthew G Lawson (Mglawson) on Saturday, September 15, 2018 - 01:21 pm: Edit |
The 25/28 mm is a given scale, once we determine which we are actually going to base them off of. I have several lines of minis all around that size, so mostly depends if we base size on 'from foot to eye' or 'foot to top of head' for the overall size; that slight difference doesn't effect how I model these.

Hydrans aren't bug eyed. Perhaps the Vari?

Well, I sent a Seltorian render to SVC, but it hasn't made it here yet. I've also asked to see if we can create Race/Empire specific sub topics on here so like ones stay together.

Other than the weapon, it's hard to tell she's Klingon.
(Wonder if she's an ex-girlfriend, one who just wants to "cling on" after the breakup.)

The Klingon needs the sash to distinguish it a bit more.

Remember ToS; Humans and Klingons are not that different, clothing and coloration are home mini modders finishing touches.

She has some beefy Klingon eyebrows and the lines of the klingon uniform; I don't believe they use a sash for the females, at least never in the series.

In previous ADB artwork the women's uniform looks distinctly different from that used in the series. Mara, the Klingon woman from TOS, wears something that looks like a short-legged romper (made from the same material as the male tunic) with a thin gold "X" on the front of it and her sleeves are billowy and made from the same material as the men's pants (although there is another Klingon woman in a background shot whose sleeves are tight-fitting and made from a different material). The Klingon woman on the front of the Prime Directive supplement is wearing something tight-fitting with pant-legs long enough to fit into her boots.

I want the Andromedans to look like Kelinda
(At least the non-robot boarding parties).

She is modeled off the cover of Klingon PD book. Most of the initial models will be based off of strong pre-existing artwork.
