I know I have posted this before, but I figure a once per year reminder is appropriate.

I would like to request the following models in 1/3125 scale be added to Shapeways:

- Kzinti Middle Years Cruiser (CAM) R5.A19.

- Kzinti Combat Battle Tug (CBT) R5.53. There is already a cargo tug, so this a matter of adding bits to the pods.

- Klingon Battle Tug (BT) R3.14. Again, there is already a cargo tug.

- Gorn Battle Tug (BT) R6.5+8. Again, there is already a cargo tug.

- Borak War Dreadnought (DNW) RB100.4. This is the one with side-by-side turrets.

- Seltorian Light Battleship (BBL) Communique 78.

- Andromedan X-Cobra (COX) RC10.29. I need a satellite for my X-Conquistadors.

I beg forgiveness for my ignorance, and likely posting this in the wrong place.
I was looking at the Borak DN on Shapeways, and it show's the turrets on the DN's wings, not centerlined (like on the BC). So is that the DNW, and the DN is not on Shapeways?

1) I would like to buy a 1:7000 scale Federation Police squadron with 1x FLAG, 3x Callahan cutters, and 3x Masterson cutters. Or maybe swap one Masterson out for a three-engine cutter.


2) Federation police cutter carrier, either the one with hanger modules and/or the one with enlarged shuttle deck.


3) true-scale 1:3125 / 1:3788 Freighters, at least single and twin pod versions.

Many (most?) of the freighter auxiliaries are actually 3788 scale, using shorter 160m civilian cargo pods instead of the traditional 200m Federation pods. I believe only the generic stock freighters were resized down to match the metal SL2400 minis. (I did submit a 3125 WYN tourney cruiser for giggles but it may not have made it into the shop.)

I admit I've not looked at the freighters; part of me rebels at the idea of using 3-D plastic to print a 2 inch by 3/8 inch cylinder when a cheap wooden dowel could be used. I was about to suggest the freighter parts be printed as a kit that could be assembled "in ballast" or on a tube of choice, but I see the freighters are fairly cheap, even a military "Now 25% More" version might not be too bad. Maybe save that idea for a 1/2500th "Prestige" Freighter.

The Shapeways pricing formula has drifted over the years, and sometimes the outside dimensions of the "boundary box" have more weight in the formula than the mass of the plastic in the box. Freighters are massive within their box, but they don't have a lot of spindly bits sticking out to make the box bigger so the pricing gets unpredictable.

We experimented with hollow ships but the issues that caused weren't worth the pennies it saved from using less plastic.

(I did make a sprue of DIY freighter parts but I haven't run it through the price checker recently. Now I'm curious what we could do with a more detailed 1/2500...)
