The Kzinti DW tender went up recently, the CM version should be next. (I had concerns with the Gorn and Kzinti tenders printing correctly, so they were slow getting on the schedule.)

Steve: I have the Gorn one. The only issue I ran across was it did go back for reprinting while my order was printing and then the model that i did receive, one of the PF's on the tender had one of its engines not totally print. Still usable however.

Am I wrong? I thought that I saw the Federation Light Scout Cruiser CLS/CVE on Shapewayes the other day, but now I do not. Was it done? If not I would be interested in it.

Seriously, scouts are the easiest variants to do. If a sculptor did the base hull, adding sensor dishes is a snap. Just ask and the sculptor for that empire will put it on his list. Might not be done this month, but soon enough.

Jean, is there any way to make Shapeways display a sub-list alphabetically? I mean, if you click on Federation, the list is quite random. I don't see any logical pattern to the order they're listed. It makes it harder to find any particular ship.

That problem is only going to get worse as more ships are added. Some type of subcategories would be helpful.

Sorting alphabetically is not something Shapeways does except on the top level. Sometimes, not always, it keeps the sort if you click on the empire after sorting the list alphabetically.

Creating subcategories -- where does it end? By size? Cruisers, dreadnoughts, battleships, frigates, destroyers? By function? Scouts, carriers, command/leaders, commando ships? By scale (285, 3125, 2788, 7000, 2500, Omni) and class? By scale and empire? By scale and class and empire? We already have 40 empires and soon will have six scales. This way lies madness. And the list of categories will be so long that it will be useless to the casual browser.

However, I do keep the product list (also known as the text catalog) and that has the Shapeways ships on it in alphabetical order. http://www.starfleetgames.com/catalog.shtml

If you see a ship you want, add "scale" after the number and search by the name. I have been very consistent in naming the ships.

So if you want the 3125 Federation Battleship, search Shapeways for 3125 Scale Federation Battleship. Ours should show up in the first spot.

Jean, okay, thanks. I guess all you can do is suggest to Shapeways that they improve their web site. I have a feeling, however, you'd do better talking to a brick wall.

Gentlefolk,

When you contact a sculptor and ask for even a "simple" ship, please realize that doing that ship gets worked into the schedule. It does NOT mean it will be done immediately or even in a month or so, especially when we are working on two major releases -- 7000 scale and 2500 scale that are scheduled to take our sculptors' time until December.

Shapeways keeps changing the goal for us and when a sensor dish worked on one file, it may fail on the next. I just had two PFT ships fail when others have passed all along. And remember for some empires, you are not asking for one ship (which is really two ships), but four.

Quite frankly there seems to be some rather complex factors at work in Shapeways' automated testing of whether a model is printable or not. I had a model I was working on throw errors on material thickness in several places, so I tweaked -one- of them as a test, reuploaded, and now three-quarters of them are passing the same test in addition to the one that I altered.
