Ok
Ive rethought this. I would rather have a million entries to filter these (since the "community" want to have a million different scales). What would I like? Here you go. A Filter for Fed 3788, Fed Omni, klink 3788, klink omni, Rom 3788, and Rom omni. If i didnt have to cotend with everything else, ordering would be incredibly easier.

I would say that, the Franz Joseph models are in 3 categories rather than 2, they're in "Federation", (appropriate scale, 3125,3788,omni), and "Franz Joseph Designs" categories.
I just think it would be easier to browse the space stations if all of them were in their own category instead of being scattered with everything else in their faction, and omni.

On redesigning the entire Shapeways site. Shapeways has designed its site to sell items and they have designed their site to do that regardless of the shop that produced it. Shop owners have asked Shapeways to let folks search within their shops to no avail because Shapeways is in the business of printing things and they don't really care which shop you get it from. There just isn't an easy way to redesign ADB's shop. I would need to touch each item to edit it.
And make no mistake, by the time I add scale and empire for each item and try to categorize it by what type of "thing" it is (cruiser, light cruiser, war cruiser, scout, carrier, station, battle station, base station, starbase, battleship, war destroyer, destroyer, heavy destroyer, etc.) my time is gone for weeks with nearly 2000 items to handle. Fun fact: if it takes 10 minutes per item, it would take 40 8-hour days to change the shop. That is eight weeks -- two months -- of my time where I do NOTHING but edit ships.
What products do you not want? The Tholian MSSB which I am proofreading? Traveller Prime Directive? The R4T Module? Whatever Federation Commander module Steve creates?
Just because it CAN be done doesn't mean it is a good use of my time and my time is not unlimited.
In all truth, I am trying to have a life. I have a fiance. I need to move from my apartment to a house and during the almost seven years I have been here, I have added things -- and I am doing it solo in my "spare" time. I am trying to be healthy and walk and that takes time.
If you want stations, search the words "omni scale". When that comes up, limit it to Miniatures (on the left). When that comes up, limit that to Scifi. When that comes up, limit it to Space Station. That gets you all the space stations we have done. Not all of the results are ours, but you only have 73 items to look at right now.

Search "omni scale station" and the first 27 results are the ADB base stations and battle stations (consistent naming FTW). The Andro straggles in at spot 33 because it doesn't have the word "station" in its name (but does have it as a keyword). Their search engine does have some power behind it once it's pointed in the right direction considering it's sifting through tens of thousands of listings.

Because of the snow, I am working from home today. SVC and SPP aren't at work to give you blow-by-blow information, but I'll post a list here when all items are released.

I did not know the Tholian CWX was being released. Was looking at the store, and for a second, thought it was the PCX with a wrong picture. Interesting.
Thanks to all involved for the work to get these on the store.

Just noticed that there's a new option for material, "multi jet fusion plastic." While cheeper than what I usually get (smooth fine detail plastic), does anyone know how the 2 compare in terms of detail and paint / primer sticking to it? Thanks for any insight.
By Chris Nasipak (Ecs05norway) on Monday, March 09, 2020 - 08:55 am: Edit |
Multijet Fusion is the former "HP Versatile Plastic" or whatever they called it -- it's basically a somewhat more refined version of the Versatile Plastic process, using a smaller particle size to get a smoother, less grainy output.
It is cheaper for some models and not so for others, compared to Detail Plastics. Where it is cheaper and the model will print in it, we have offered it.
As far as paint/primer it is still somewhat porous so treat it as you would the Versatile Plastic. It holds detail better but is not as crisp as Detail Plastic.
By Chris Nasipak (Ecs05norway) on Monday, March 09, 2020 - 12:07 pm: Edit |
A lot of people are disappointed -- when it was back in beta it was only a dollar or two more expensive than Versatile Plastic. Now it's right around the same level as Detail, give or take a dollar or two here and there.

Curious about the future plans for the 7000 scale models. My poor Fed DN broke in an accident the other day. I might be able to salvage it, might not. Thinking about replacing it but not sure if I'd want to get the core set all over again, but then again it does have ships that I wouldn't mind having more of. I dunno, I'm just wondering what options are being considered for the future.

We plan to respond to customer input.

Okay. Shapeways did a major re-price of one of the materials today. It may become a viable material for nearly all our ships.
Due to this, what I can do is add a tag to each ship (not a category down the side, but a tag at the bottom). This tag could be 3788 Klingon or 3125 Klingon or 3788 Fed Classic or 3125 Federation -- you get the idea.
If you click on the tag, then it throws you into a page with other ships with the same tag. Now the downside is that it will show you ships from other shops with that same tag. However, on a quick check, it doesn't look like other shops are using that sort of tag.
Will that help with what you are requesting?
