Nick, thanks. Fixed.

The 3125 scale Clipper + Galleon sprue looks like a duplicate of the Caravel + Barque sprue; the 3788 scale Clipper + Galleon sprue has the correct ships, though.

The Lyran Utilities sprue -- the Manx and Caracal descriptions appear to be switched; Manx is the smaller one, Caracal is the trimaran.

Both the 1/3788 Iridani Sloop+Yawl and the 1/3125 are listed as the same size. One of them is incorrect but which one?

We're working on fixing the Iridani ships.

After looking at the "example" by Chris, thanks very much by the way, I just put in an order for some of the BB and X-ships I wanted but held off because of price vs detail issues; no more! The Gray PA12 made all the difference in price and with detail is where I want it!

Yes, that picture was appreciated. Thanks for posting it, Chris.

All the Iridani ships should now be correct.

And thanks to Jean for her usual hard work.

ADB Releases Ships for April, 2020
On April 3, 2020, ADB released a total of 35 new items to its shop on Shapeways with over 2,000 items available in total. Notably, we added more advanced technology ships (sometimes called X-technology or "X-ships") to the shop. There are some styles of ships designed to work within the price increase that Shapeways imposed. We also added more ships in the 7000 Scale that is designed to allow you to play with multiple ships on a "regular" map with 5/8-inch hexes. Please note that all ships are available in both 3788 and 3125 scales unless specifically noted, then they are only available in the scale noted.
The Federation starts with the Light Survey Cruiser. This is available in both the Federation (gridded saucer) and Fed Classic (smooth saucer) styles.
The Klingons gain their X-Ship D7XB Battlecruiser. With more aztecking, it is also available as the X-Ship D7XK Battlecruiser.
The Romulans gain a SkyHawk-F Scout, and two X-Ships: the SparrowHawk-AX Light Cruiser and the BattleHawk-X Destroyer. The BattleHawk-X is also available as a sprue of two ships.
The Kzintis get two X-ships: the X-Ship Command Cruiser and the X-Ship Battlecruiser.
The Tholians also get two X-ships: the X-Ship Heavy Cruiser and X-Ship Command Cruiser.
The Lyrans get two ships in Omni Scale: the Small Auxiliary Cruiser and the Large Auxiliary Cruiser. In 7000 Scale they get the "Utilities Collection." This collection focuses on fleet support, economic, and commercial shipping including the Puma-class tug with its cargo pallets, the Jaguar-T-class light tactical transport with a single Klingon-type cargo pod, a large freighter, a small freighter, a Caracal-class military police cutter, and a Manx-class police cutter.
The WYNs get three different collections in 7000 Scale. The Fleet Fish Ship Core Collection contains the six basic ships of the "fish" series built late in the General War, including the dreadnought, battlecruiser, heavy cruiser, war cruiser, war destroyer, and frigate. The Fleet Fish Ship Builder Collection includes the most common ships of the "fish" series including a heavy cruiser, war cruiser, two war destroyers, and two frigates. Finally there is the "Special Ship Collection" which includes the unusual and special ships of the WYN fleet including the fish-type war cruiser and war destroyer, the Lyran-built pocket battleship and pocket battlecruiser, and the Orion-built Raider Cruiser and Light Raider Frigate.
The Omega Octant sees the Iridani gain some sprued pairs: the Sloop and Yawl, the Caravel and Barque, and the Clipper and Galleon.

Thank you kindly to Jean for sorting the Iridani ship sprues. Hopefully these pairs will encourage more players to launch Quests of their own into uncharted regions of space.
At this point, we have minis to represent two of the X-flagships sent to lead Operation Unity: the CX NCC-1776 USS Bunker Hill and the DX Kumerian. According to Moudle X1R, the Romulans sent a "Nova-Axe" to command their Unity contingent; there are four names listed in the R-section entry, yet it's not yet known which (if any) of those was the one sent to the LMC.
Of course, there is a certain other X-ship which was sent on Operation Unity that I'm hoping might be added to Shapeways in the not-too-distant future...

We just learned Shapeways is going to add a 6% processing fee to the base price of every mini, starting April 15. Order soon!

Seriously? Haven't they shot themselves in the foot enough, why'd they have to re-load?? From the outside looking in, I think they have a good company, very good tech staff, great held desk guys, and p-poor management.

They are saying they are having trouble getting the materials for the 3D printing due to the pandemic. Fingers crossed this is temporary.

To quote a line from my own fiction writing: "Temporary things have a habit of becoming permanent." {sigh}

Okay, I just found the topic in the Shape-Ways forum talking about this. The official announcement simply says there will be "a six percent processing fee applied to the base model price". As I read on down, someone says that there is already a five percent fee, so it's "only" a one percent increase. If that is true, then why didn't they say they're just increasing an existing fee???? Either way, they seriously need someone with more public relations experience to advise them before they roll out changes like this. {sigh}

Previously, they needed people running the company that actually understood that you need to make more than you spend, or you will eventually go bankrupt. The big price-increases, a while back, were new management making that needed change - you can only sell everything at a loss for so long.
They are saying it is due to the current disruptions, and I'd believe it. The shipping industry and supply chain are re-prioritized and topsy turvy.
They could do with some better messaging though.

I cannot wait to see Marcus Lemonis buy Shapeways on an episode of THE PROFIT and break the news to them that they are moving to New Jersey to cut their costs by 50% and improve their margins.
By Mike West (Mjwest) on Friday, April 10, 2020 - 12:21 pm: Edit |
If New Jersey would let them cut their costs by 50%, I shudder to know where they are now. (New Jersey is not cheap; it is expensive.)
By Steve Cole (Stevecole) on Friday, April 10, 2020 - 12:35 pm: Edit |
They are in downtown NYC.
Just personally I'd move them to Dallas or Saint Louis for the best shipping options.
By Mike West (Mjwest) on Friday, April 10, 2020 - 01:06 pm: Edit |
Oh, OK. They would save money just by moving across the Hudson. But, yes, moving far away from either coast would save way more money, too.
