By Ryan Opel (Ryan) on Monday, November 30, 2020 - 12:32 am: Edit

I'd like to meet the person who maxes out the discount.

By Aaron Staley (Awwwdrat) on Monday, November 30, 2020 - 06:31 am: Edit

Ryan, i'd like to BE the person who maxes out on the discount.
Anyway bought the new Feds!

By Garth L. Getgen (Sgt_G) on Monday, November 30, 2020 - 12:33 pm: Edit

Well, I placed my order. It was above the $50 minimum but well below the maximum discount.

You can also use MYFIRSTPRINT for 15% off if you've never ordered before. Go! Spend money! Give ADB the resources needed to make more stuff for me to spend more money on!

:D

Already exchanged messages with Jean on this, but it seems Shapeways has one over-zealous inspector who claims some models won't print in certain materials, even tho they have worked perfectly fine in the past. {sigh}

By Jean Sexton Beddow (Jsexton) on Tuesday, December 01, 2020 - 05:07 pm: Edit

What is happening is the sprue structure is being questioned. The structure on other models has printed fine in the past. However, since the problem is an issue with the newly changed standards, I don't really have any way to fight it with customer service. A more experienced "engineer" would realize that the sprue is unimportant if it doesn't print exactly to the standard expectation.

By Steven Zamboni (Szamboni) on Tuesday, December 01, 2020 - 05:16 pm: Edit

It doesn't help that Shapeways redefines certain shapes almost at random, then assigns different minimum values to each. The PA12 parts seem to be particularly vulnerable to random spot-checking by engineers.

Hi, Jean!

Just to be sure i understand your information on shapeways correctly:
There won’t be any model update or smarter engineer at shapeways in the next 7 days, so i better reorder my sprue either in another materiel or reorder the ships separately?
The later won’t be a big problem but I do not accidentally want to end up with my order doubled.

Mit freundlichen Grüßen
Soeren Klein

The reply back from Shapeways says that the two items in quesiton (7000-scale Fed Core & Builder sets) have Never been attempted in the Grey PA12. {sigh} Just re-ordered them in the white.

Give SW some slack. A few overworked people are dealing with tens of thousands of items.

By Jean Sexton Beddow (Jsexton) on Wednesday, December 02, 2020 - 10:19 am: Edit

Soeren, that is correct. I am sorry your order got caught in that mess. Redesigning all the sprues and getting all of them out might well take more than the seven days they have given us.

By Soeren Klein (Ogdrklein) on Wednesday, December 02, 2020 - 10:37 am: Edit

Thanks for your reply, Jean!

I guessed so...

Just wanted to make sure some smart engineer suddenly approved the sprue and I end up with two of them.

I just reordered the ships separatly. Not the whole sprue but the two NCLs and the NSC. The CLC wasn't that importent.

Soeren Klein

Soeren, thank you for re-ordering. We really appreciate it.

By Aaron Staley (Awwwdrat) on Thursday, December 03, 2020 - 04:21 pm: Edit

Just got the rest of my klink heavies! Nice! Now my Big Mac will have competition!

By Jair Bobys (Jairb) on Saturday, December 05, 2020 - 06:33 pm: Edit

Any chance that we could get 7000 scale versions of these:
https://www.shapeways.com/product/BPCVNUVAH/omni-scale-stand-sprue-of-12-flight-stands-wem?optionId=63470470&li=ostatus

That would fit in these:
https://www.shapeways.com/product/39QCWXTVX/7000-scale-2-cm-round-base-covers-24-actasf-srz?optionId=135395561&li=ostatus

And allow us to mount these:
https://www.shapeways.com/product/SNSD7C7EL/omni-scale-stand-three-prong-stand-topper-srz?optionId=63470329&li=ostatus

Thanks!

Making a stand that tiny would be a chore, especially since our ships have the stands as an integral part of the ship. I'd have to hear more than one request for such items.

By Steven Zamboni (Szamboni) on Sunday, December 06, 2020 - 01:40 am: Edit

So just a 3-prong 1/2" hex stand? The fun part isn't so much making the stand as it is finding an efficient way to stack them without giving Shapeways another yacht.

Whatever is going on the prongs will likely need to be glued there as mounting posts are going to be an issue at that size.

By Chris Nasipak (Ecs05norway) on Sunday, December 06, 2020 - 06:54 pm: Edit

Spare 1/2" stands would probably not go amiss, they get broken, etc. And ones that we could attach a small three-prong attachment to for fighters and whatnot would probably go over well with the 7k collectors.

By Jair Bobys (Jairb) on Monday, December 07, 2020 - 12:09 am: Edit

That's my use. I started 7K fleets and want to put Fighters on stands of similar size.

I'm using the 2" round bases with ACTA firing arcs.

The stands don't need to have dimensions matching the pegs for ships since the 7K ships have integral pegs and bases. If they can just support the existing 3-pronged attachments and fit the existing 2" round bases that would be a home run for me.
