Its good to see the empires of the Lesser Magellanic Cloud make their first* appearance on the Shapeways storefront. Hopefully their presence there might help raise awareness of, and interest in, both Star Fleet Battles Module C5 and the LMC playtest file for Federation Commander.

*Well, technically speaking, the "metal hull" Jindarian ships already on Shapeways could be used to represent the two-to-three Caravans located in the LMC. Not to mention the presence of the Andromedans - or, for that matter, those ships from elsewhere which showed up in the Cloud both during and after Operation Unity...

Everyone has an opinion. Those who want the high price high detail stuff, the ones who lovingly apply eight coats of paint and stain, love it and pay for it. I regard gaming minis as adequately painted after five seconds of spray paint and buy the cheap stuff. You pay for what you want and get what you pay for.

Personal opinion, but if you're going to buy Feds in the cheap stuff, get the "classic" ships without the grid lines. If you want the grid lines, buy the better (i.e., more expensive) material.

Dos anyone know if it is possible to change how the data on a Shapeways page is displayed? It is fairly difficult to read the pages with most of the names truncated.

May be an issue with your font size selection? Jean is pretty serious about making sure titles don't get truncated == when she puts them in she uses the full space availble.

Its just the way that Shapeways is displaying the data. It isn't getting physically truncated but they way they have the tables set up is truncating the titles.

Its not a big problem on my Mac because I can mouse-over the title to see it in full but you can't do that on a tablet at all.

I was just hoping that there was an option on their site to change to a list view or something similar. It wasn't an issue with how Jean was entering the data just a Shapeways problem.

Many of the Kzinti carriers models are practically identical to the non-carriers, especially if the mounting post obscures the belly hatch. As such, many of them have been parked at the bottom of the priority list waiting for a spark of inspiration for making them look different on the table (besides painting stripes on them).

If you have particular ships in mind, I can take another poke at the model to see if I've overlooked something.

For anyone collecting 7000 scale fleets, I've put together a collection tracker for the Alpha Octant empires on Google Sheets, which you can copy from here.

I was inspired to do this as I've decided to focus my SFB minis collection around the 7000 scale (cheaper per ship, usable on a standard map - still getting some 3125 minis but those are "special collection"), and am starting with the Hydrans and Lyrans. Not because they just happen to be two of the empires with the largest number of different 7000 scale collections on Shapeways - but it just so happens they do. Which makes trying to decide which items to get and in what order and how many to aim for to have a solid selection of ships an exercise in trying to bounce around five plus different product pages. So I went "Hey, this is a job for a spreadsheet!"

It's pretty straightforward: each empire has its own sheet in the workbook, listing the different classes represented in 7000 scale and the collections available to order. Use rows 2 and 3 under each column heading to note how many of each you own and are thinking of ordering, and it calculates how many of each ship you have and would end up with.

Please feel free to let me know about any errors, offer feedback for making it more useful, etc. I'll prob do similar sheets for the simulator and non-Alpha empires at some point as well.

Zac, Jean can verify, but I think that Seltorian group was a lot more expensive buying it as a sprue in the detailed plastic than buying each ship individually which is why it was never listed.
