Looks amazing! Except we will be needing to repair. The last time I was this excited was when Maryanne have me that look... That would have been 82 or 83, a few years before F&E changed all our lives. Well done.

Anyone: General Question
I'm more or less forced by life circumstance to play F&E by PBEM, and it's often hard for me to schedule a big block of time to show up for FTF time (even via a client).
The hardest part of PBEM is handling the simultaneous revelation of information, particularly during combat. It's very important to the game's structure and balance. My opponents and I have generally found work-arounds. However, it's not the same as true simultaneous reveal.
The solution, I think, is some kind of online information broker. Input your email address and submit your information. Opponent does the same. The broker sends out all information to both email addresses as soon as both players have submitted. This constitutes true simultaneous revelation of information, as called-for in the game rules. Ideally you setup a service that could handle 2, 3, 4, whatever number of players.
I did a quick look and found nothing remotely like this. Anyone know of one? Or could build one without too much effort?

I bet that I could build something like that...
Should probably be able to stand it up in a day or two. It'll be pretty barebones at first, just to get something out there.

Kewl! Might be a very useful too to permanently post on the "computer development" thread.

Hey y’all, I know it’s been awhile, but I have been hard at work….at both my “real job” and the game. Pretty excited to announce that I’ve spent the past month on fighters and carriers and pretty much implemented everything for them (except some Fed & Hydran specific rules)
Lots of changes since last time:
* Added Support for Fighters
* Reacting with independent fighters.
* Handling Independent Fighters in a battle force
* Fighter factors include in ComPot & Damage Calculations
* Added tooltips for fighters.
* Added support for carriers.
* Handle building carriers
* Handle Free Fighter Factors
* Visual indicator on map and screens when a carrier is not at max fighters.
* Handle forming carrier groups.
* Handle GEDS for both direct and voluntary damage
* Handle transferring fighters between combat rounds.
* Replacement fighters in shipyard and retrograde phases
* And some other odds in ends
* Went through the whole rulebook and made a list of everything I haven’t done yet so I have a punch list to keep me on track now
I’m camping again this weekend with my youngest (rappelling up in Oklahoma) but I’ll try to make a video of all of this tonight before we leave tomorrow. If not, I’ll get a video up next week.

Hey y'all I just posted a new video for my progress on the game.
This update adds more combat enhancements. I added support for:
* Buying and Spending Command Points
* Putting a Unit in the Formation Bonus box
* Buying and using Drone ships
* Buying and using Maulers
* Carrying over plus/minus points in combat
And not related to combat, but added the Economics form that you can look at anytime.

Hope you enjoy

Thanks y'all....just wanted to say I posted a new update today. I"ve added support for the Small Scale Combat system.
I'm working now on two things...support for scouts and for making battle force selection a little easier with a more drag and drop type interface.
You can check it out here... Video on Youtube

This continues to impress!! Great work, glad you love the challenge involved too. You are winning!

I apprecaite the kind words folks and yes this is a lot of fun for me too.
I just posted another update, this one is a little shorter on the visuals. I redid battleforce setup and added support for scouts as the main things.
Under the covers I refactored some systems that were in need of an overhaul, but I don't go into that in the video.
You can watch here: Video on Youtube
Up next is work on tugs, which obviously have a lot so might be longer than a week before the next update

In case you missed it a few days ago I posted a video about adding Tug support to the game.
Tugs on YouTube
I'm pretty far along right now in adding support for approach battles, battles at bases, and SIDS. Probably a couple more days to finish that up...
I'm hoping to make some real progress the next two weeks as I'm off work.... of course so are my kids and my oldest is home from college so we'll see...
By Stewart Frazier (Frazikar3) on Sunday, December 24, 2023 - 06:00 pm: Edit |
One item wrong with your example, note that Klingons tugs may use up to two pods (the battle tug had to use two to reach 12 AF) while the carrier tug used only one pod (showing 2.5 fighters instead of 5 with two pods) …
Also, the Klingons can mix7match their pod use with tugs (though their LTT is limited to one pod).
The Lyrans will have similar options when using their K-pod set ...

I suspect that most of you who care are already subscribed and saw anyway, but I've put out a few more videos on my progress with building this out...
Starbases and BATS
Supply Grid
Battleships
Mobile Bases
or just this...
The whole playlist
Quick question Stewart...I'm only doing the base game right now, I thought the two pods option came in one of the expansions?
By Stewart Frazier (Frazikar3) on Sunday, March 10, 2024 - 09:56 pm: Edit |
Nope, both the Klingons and the Kzinti use two pods (and the Lyrans with their K-pod series) - [mix-n-match was in an expansion]. Their LTTs all use one pod though ...
