You could alter the fleet names to be prefixed by a single letter corresponding to the empire. Not the greatest solution, but then at least you wouldn't have "Home Fleet", "Home Fleet", and "Home Fleet". You'd have "Z: Home Fleet", "K: Home Fleet", and "F: Home Fleet".

By James Lowry (Rindis) on Wednesday, April 03, 2024 - 10:20 pm: Edit

That allows sorting, which would help, but not collapsible folders. :(

By James Lowry (Rindis) on Thursday, April 04, 2024 - 12:27 pm: Edit

Okay, found out how to do that, and it lets me get rid of all the capital system reporting, which had not been obeying my attempts at filtering it out.

So, a rework of the "Fleets" inventory is now one of the 2.1.1. features.

It should be possible to change the folder a fleet appears under (but not the menu), i.e., change the Joint TF Alpha listing to Lyran by switching the counter to Lyran, but I don't think I'll be trying to implement that right now.

HOORAY! HOORAY!

Thank you

James another small but helpful thing you might add is to the Alliance/Coalition/Neutral Charts.

In the the Title blocks on each of these charts for the Depot Level Repair Yards it simply says
Depot:

Can you add the location after the colon, please?
No need to put specific hex numbers as the Depot's in the Capital Shipyard hex by rule are there until destroyed when the capital SY is captured and would be re-established at the new Capital SY location when the rebuild is complete.

Rationale: because the locations are different for each empire, having to not look up the rule would be nice by adding the location to the title block

These would be as follows from Rule (424.13), mostly...other references also below:

Alliance Charts
Federation:
Depot: Capital Shipyard

Kzinti:
Depot: Off Map

Gorn:
Depot: Capital Shipyard

Hydran:
Depot: Off Map

Coalition Charts
Klingon:
Depot: Capital Shipyard

Lyran:
Depot: Off Map

Romulan:
Depot: Capital Shipyard

Seltorian:
Depot: Base Planet

Vudar:
Depot: Capital Shipyard

Neutral Charts
Tholian:
Depot: Capital Shipyard

ISC:
Depot: Off Map

WYN:
Depot: Capital Shipyard

LDR:
Depot: Capital Shipyard

Rule REFERENCES (PO and ME):
(424.13) LOCATION: All depots are in the capital shipyard except the Kzinti, Lyran, ISC, and Hydran depots, which are in their respective off-map areas.
(424.131) If the hex containing the depot is captured by the enemy, the depot is destroyed along with all ships in it; there are no salvage points. A new depot is created with the replacement capital shipyard and can start holding destroyed ships, but cannot start moving ships into the depot tracks until the turn after the new shipyard (even a medium interim shipyard) is completed.
(424.132) Those empires with off-map depots would not have their depot affected by the loss of their capital and the rebuilding time that follows.

(546.132) Depot Level Repair (DLR): On the turn that the Seltorians establish a base planet, they can begin using DLR (424.0) at their base planet. Their DLR has only two tracks for small-hulled and medium-hulled ships; a third track for large-hulled ships is added if the Seltorians build a medium shipyard. The DLR hull tracks are listed in (715.0).

(547.13) VUDAR HOMEWORLD: Vudar Prime is treated as a major planet that can be devastated but not captured due to radiation hazards. At the time of the revolt it was protected by six PDUs and two IDUs (547.5). The Vudar repair depot is at Vudar
Prime.

LDR: See the Online Warbook Supplement for rule (424.11) which (along with 714.23 and 714.59) call this one track out as at the capital shipyard.

One more request. Can you add a second battle board in version 2.1.1?

We use Discord for comms and have 4 players (two per side). It would be great to be able to use the 2nd Board (and an alternate discord game channel) to simultaneously resolve more than one battle at a time.

Thanks.

By Andrew White (Nom) on Wednesday, April 17, 2024 - 09:32 pm: Edit

Thanks for the 2.1 update.

Something I notice has got lost between 2.0 and 2.1 is all the labels indicating which expansions units come from. This was very useful for removing units when using Basic F&E.

(The Wind, Large Map)

Not essential, and probably a heck of a lot of work to replace, but noticeable.

By James Lowry (Rindis) on Saturday, April 20, 2024 - 07:03 pm: Edit

Andrew, that's because the official main OOB no longer lists them by expansion. Instead of adding in new ships, the current policy is to just 'unconvert' variants you aren't using. The base set version is different from that, but I'm not prepared to sort out the differences at the moment.

Lar, I can do a second battle board; I dropped it in 2.0 because my attempts showed more confusion than benefit, but if you guys are making it work, that's enough. I was also confused on the Depots at first, but if you're just wanting labeling on the charts, that should be doable.

Thanks for the great work.

Minor bug in 2.1: fighters on carriers do not get counted as ship equivalents.

Example: in the Duke's fleet I have 2 Kzinti fighter tokens (value 6) and 3 CVs (one of which has 6 fighters), plus other ships

In fleet view, the two fighter tokens are listed as "FTR: 0 (2 SE): 0-0 (0H12)", which seems correct.

Meanwhile, the 3 CVs show as "CV 3 (3 SE): 30-30 (0H6)". I think that should be "(4 SE)".

By James Lowry (Rindis) on Thursday, April 25, 2024 - 12:33 am: Edit

That's not a bug. Total the fighters, divide by 6, and add them in yourself. The stack counter isn't smart enough for more.

The fighter counters will add at full strength because I know what the current strength on them is. If you have a six-factor carrier, and you lose one, and even correct it in the properties... the appropriate parts don't know. So outside of the counters, you have to hand do it all. And non full-strength counters need it too.

Thanks! We do have it worked out (we had tried to use one of the capital charts but having another full battle board would just be better).

I was also confused on the Depots at first, but if you're just wanting labeling on the charts, that should be doable.

Sorry probably my explanation but you got it right...its only the Depot Title Block (or label) on the Charts that would require this edit.

Never mind this post… instead I am curious to know the correct name of the Kzinti Major adjacent to the Capital

The Gazetteer has a match showing the name as Kindlai. While the Large Size Map may be different I believe showing the name as Klindai.

James I was walking through Scenario 634 set up from Tactical Operations (page 21).

I noticed I cannot find the WYN ODR
It should be a WYN color scheme Orion Double Raider.
Combat factors are 6/3 and was included on the Civil Wars sheet.

An Orion counter could be used of course but thought I would mention the gap.

By James Lowry (Rindis) on Friday, May 10, 2024 - 12:07 pm: Edit

Typically, I just put the officially printed counters in the module. The main WYN setup though includes a bunch of ships that aren't printed yet, and I included them. Since that's the main WYN scenario, I should put that in too.

But in the meantime, you can find the ODR and a bunch of other WYN ships in the "Extras" extension.

Quick Question, in my current game I upgraded a BATS to a Starbase but I did not add the extra fighter module to save money

Is there a starbase somewhere that is 36 (6) instead of 36 (12)?

Andy
