Eco above.

Combat is now mostly done in the GTO. I decided NOT to attack the Gorn capital systems this turn, in favor of squeezing the lizard tight. All remaining BATS and planets outside of the capital, except for 3901. Gorn reserves save planet 4001 and BATS 4002, killing AD5, F5E, and FD7 in the process (I only had BATS busting forces in both places).

During the turn, because of the vagaries of reaction, I end up with a large 32 ship fleet at planet 4702, and he had only reacted 8 ships including the DNT. He chose to put it on the line, but unfortunately I got lucky on the combat role, and I had an SPF on the line. We maul each other, so I trade a dead K7R for the dead DNT. Very good trade, of course, though I highly suspect he's going to replace said DNT on A16. Still, 18 EPs going to hurt after I've squeezed him this turn. Ultimately I'm going to end up with occupying or disrupting all Gorn provinces but 4001 and 4402 (of those, 4 are disrupted).

Other than the kills I lost to reserves and the DNT's last dinner, casualties are very light given the high compot fleets I sent everyone and their fighters. Only a crippled WE taken to kill the BATS in 5201.

Combat now proceeding to the Eastern FTO. In 3804 I have 23 Romulans against a former reserve of 11 FEDS plus the BATS. In 3509 I take the planet for nothing with 35 Klingons, however 2 Fed reserves come to save Federation BATS 3508 from 11 Roms with 18 Feds.

There's a few other small fry fights, probably just a round and run for most of them. The more interesting thing is the fact that I have 68 Klingons trying to pay Earth a visit for shore leave, versus a like number of Feds.

The ZTO, as noted above, is purely pro-forma.

HTO as Richard stated.

FYI, to be clear, there is NO chance that Earth is going down this turn. However, it's highly likely that several outer capital system planets will be devastated.

In the Hydran theater, the Hydran reserve killed 2 FF before retreating offmap (self kills to avoid pursuit). Coalition does too little damage to direct anything, and so the Hydrans only lose fighters. Hydrans retreat offmap on second option.

In 319 the Coalition returns the favor, killing 2*POL for fighters. 10 remaining SEQ of various POL types retreat to 318 after Coalition announces retreat to 418.

One very large battle in 213 between the main forces in the theater. However, only 20 Hydrans are in supply, so it is likely to be a "fight a round and retreat" kind of battle. But that is up to Richard - I'm here to kill Hydrans.

By Richard B. Eitzen (Rbeitzen) on Sunday, July 21, 2019 - 12:55 pm: Edit

A16 has started. The Hydrans miss gettug a province surveyed by one point and get an SR crippled. At least the PT didnt botch things.

They construct 2RN MHKE 3CU and get a free PGV (their fourth one). They also build an NEC I think, can't remember, and the depot finishes repair on another CU.

By Richard B. Eitzen (Rbeitzen) on Sunday, July 21, 2019 - 07:56 pm: Edit

A few NZ hexes and a captured province in Hydran space are successfully raided, no enemy resisted.

Hydran infiltrators manage to sneak a dilithium bomb disguised as a 'special shipment' aboard a DWG garrisoning Pthaa III. There were no survivors.

By Ted Fay (Catwhoeatsphoto) on Sunday, July 21, 2019 - 09:02 pm: Edit

Hydrans in pajamas were challenged as they tried to board the DWG.

They replied, "Candygram for Mongo!"

The Lyran shuttle bay officer fell for it.

Mongo likes candy!

This game is still active. It's just a bit slow because of somewhat incompatible schedules.

We are still in combat for A16. The Kzinti attacked 1401 in force. Everywhere else Bill either consolidated fleets for the defense, or killed a bunch of raiders and pickets.

Notably, he pushed back the Romulans at 3210, temporarily eliminating Rom supply to the Federation capital. However, the Klingons held onto 3509 and 2509 and 3708, so a Federation capital raid is now possible unless he hauls everything back (which is unclear). He also attacked 1910, though I doubt he's got the forces to take it.

The Hydrans did nothing for operational this turn. Literally. They did not move at all. Richard must have been just fine with where they are at.

The Gorns consolidated at their homeworlds, readying for the storm.

The Kzinti attack 1401 with nearly their entire navy (123 SEQ), leaving only 12 ships offmap for a presumed reserve. They have 6 SEQ of cripples offmap. 96 SEQ of Coalition units oppose them.

All of the fights so far have been "one and done". However, 1401 is turning into a real slugfest. The Kzinti are bound and determined to try to take the hex and rob the Coalition of its hard-earned gains!

So far we are on round 16. Over half of both fleets are now crippled, and the Kzinti are down to just 28 fighters, so now he's taking cripples rather than risk his compot go down. The Coalition is dishing out better than it's getting, on account of a consistent 1 or 2 EW shift advantage. However, it's hard to beat the SEQ advantage.

It is unclear who will win, though right now odds are on the Kzinti. However, it appears that the Coalition is happy to cripple all 96 SEQ for the honor of crippling the bulk Kzinti navy, so this combat is very likely to go more than 20-25 rounds!

Afterwards, I *think* there are only two combats left: 1910 and 2010 (picket). However, I seriously doubt these will be slugfests. The Federation will likely be "one and done", or maybe they'll go in to take out the PRD at the planet, but I doubt he has the spit in the eye to grind the planet down, as his only retrograde point is the otherwise devastated planet at 2610 (with no repair facilities).

Exciting stuff!

Finally. After 26 rounds of utterly brutal, violent combat, the Kzinti retake their homeworld! But is it a Pyrrhic victory? Almost all units on BOTH sides are crippled.

Tale of the Tape:
(vast bulk self kills, a few, like the Maulers, TG+S and 2*DWE directed)

Kzinti KIA: PT, 2*BC, 2*CM, 4*FFK, 3*FF, CLE, 2*DWE, TGC+S, CLG. (16 SEQ).

Kzinti WIA: DN, TGC+AA, 2*DNL, 3*BC, 4*CL, 1*DD, 8*FF, 1*CVA, 11*CVS, 2*TGC+BB, 1*TGB+BB, DDV, 1*BCE, 2*NEC, 11*MEC, 4*CLE, 2*DWE, 4*FKE, 1*EFF, 1*CD, 1*SDF, 5*DF, 3*SF, CLG, 2*FFT, 1*TGT+M, LTT+M, 2*FFT

Klingon KIA: D7C, MD5, F5L, F5

Klingon WIA: D7C, 2*F7, 3*D5, 3*F5W, D6U, AD5, F5E

Lyran KIA: NMC, STJ, 5*FF, DWG (TOTAL 12 SEQ for Coalition)

Lyran WIA: 2*DN, TGC+A, 4*BC, 1*CF, 5*CW, 9*DW, LN (CAPTURED), HDD, 11*FF, CVD, TGC+B, CLV, JGP+V, 3*CWE, 6*DWE, 3*CLS, 6*DWS, TGP+S, JGP+G, TGP+M, 6*LTT+M

A *VERY* expensive bloody fight!

Theoretical repair bills (excluding liberal depot use):

Kzinti: 120.5 EPs.

Coalition: 109.5 EPs.

Net SEQ losses: -16 Kzinti, -12 Coalition.

Numbers reflect the fact that for most of the battle the Coalition had the better of the die rolls. Very rough on the Kzinti, but they were DETERMINED to drive out the invading menace!!!

By Ted Fay (Catwhoeatsphoto) on Monday, November 11, 2019 - 02:33 pm: Edit

Of significance: What was NOT crippled at 1401!

Kzinti: DN, 1*CVS, 1*CVD, 2*CVL (naked), 4*CVE (naked), 4*FCR, SF

Klingon: C8, 2*PTR

Lyran: CSV, 3*FCR

Do the Coalition have enough 'in theatre' to recapture 1401?

Kzinti certainly have a modest number of fighters left.... but they don't appear to have many esorts left.

What is available in the Reserves?

By Ted Fay (Catwhoeatsphoto) on Wednesday, November 20, 2019 - 10:21 am: Edit

Kzinti reserves (i.e., what is left in the navy, not reserve fleets) are fairly weak. He's got about 35 SEQ in uncrippled ships, if I'm counting correctly - though I haven't seen his end of turn file yet. He'll have something like 12 SEQ in an actual reserve fleet at the end of AT16. After repairs on CT17 I'll have nearly 70 SEQ in the theater (which includes the pickets), but even so that should be plenty enough to retake 1401 on CT17.

Once I get the end of turn move file for AT17 I can post the map.
