SYMBOLS USED: The definition of the red diamond (survey ships?) should probably be included. F Brooks, 1 May 2017.
FEDS: While technically correct, I don't see where we have the room to do so. This is an ADB call but I don't see it as a good use of limited space.
Also, would it be possible to get page numbers included on the SITs? It would make life much easier when printing them.
SVC ADDED RED DIAMOND DESCRIPTORS TO EVERY FILE (EXCEPT THE TWO I DON'T HAVE) ON 2 MAY 2017.
By Steve Cole (Stevecole) on Tuesday, May 02, 2017 - 02:52 pm: Edit |
I have now added the leading R to every generic unit on every SIT that didn't have one. (This does not include the Paravian and Carnivon SITs because I dont have excell files on those. I have asked the staff to correct the missing Rs and send me the files.)
In doing that, I noted that something like 98% of existing Generic units had the R, so clearly the standard is, was, and always has been to include the R. Sorry we missed a few.

(edited) (531.0) POLICE SHIPS: The police forces of the Lyran Democratic
Note for staff- I did a global fix for FLG/POL/PV to deal with call up costs being missing or no longer correct.
All FLG/POL/PV should now have 1/turn, 2/turn, 1/year type call up rates noted (including the K/F special cases).
I didn't see anything in my rules search on how to handle Heavy Police ships (mostly from CL#40), so I skipped any fixes there. If we want me to look at those, please post or email me a pointer.
FEDS: MEMO FOR RECORD
This ME rule does cover police call-up for the LDR/Vudar/Selts and could also apply to the WYN/Jindarians/Andros when introduced to F&E:
Quote:
Republic (LDR) and the Vudar Enclave were effectively
absorbed and fully integrated full-time by their relatively small
national fleets. As such these empires do not have a pool of additional
police forces to call-up under this rule. The LDR POL and
MP along with the Vudar FLG are treated like any other warship
of their respective fleets and they do not fall under these police
ship rules. Seltorian Tribunal forces did not carry or use police
forces as part of their galactic quest to exterminate the Tholians.

Howard stated: (SHP.O) HEAVY POLICE CUTTERS
"I didn't see anything in my rules search on how to handle Heavy Police ships (mostly from CL#40), so I skipped any fixes there."
FEDS: From CL51:
Quote:
Many heavy police cutters (HPC) came into service during
the years of the General War when police forces across the galaxy
found themselves outclassed and outgunned by military raiders
and new classes of pirates. Note: Some of these ships have
been introduced in prior ADB publications; the Kzinti HPC is a
notional playtest unit for F&E and has not been published for
SFB. The SIT in this issue lists only the ships in this issue; an
extra SIT in the Supplemental File lists all known HPCs.
(5HP.1) USAGE: As a modification of the established police ship
rules (531.0), an empire may substitute one HPC for one standard
police cutter under (531.12) per year beginning with that
empire's HPC year in service date. The maximum number of
HPCs which can be called into military service is: Federation FPP
(6), Klingon G6 (6), Romulan K6 (6), Kzinti HPC (3), Gorn BFF
(3), Tholian POW (2), Lyran MP (4), Hydran HGN (2) and HGV
(1 ), and ISC HPC (6). All other rules under (531.0) pertaining to
the use of police cutters apply to HPCs.
(5HP.2) ADDITIONAL CALL-UPS: An empire can build additional
HPCs, counting them against appropriate scheduled production
on the SIT up to a maximum of one HPC produced per year;
these are in excess of the limits under (531.12). Only one Hydran
HGV may be in service at any time.

DONE 22 MARCH 2017 BUT SVC THINKS COSTS SHOULD BE HIGHER.
HAS: CHANGE costs: conv From HAC: 3 | build 12 | Rationale: max EW is now 3 so costs needed to match.
By Chuck Strong (Raider) on Sunday, April 30, 2017 - 01:14 pm: Edit |
FEDS note of auxiliary ship build costs: Recommend simply citing for each auxiliary build as follows: (549.121) Each empire may produce one auxiliary (of any type) per turn (the Federation, Klingons, Romulans, and the ISC may produce two per turn), but only one per year may be a large, jumbo, or heavy auxiliary. One large or two small auxiliary troop ships can be built each turn in addition to that number. Some auxiliaries have an “in service” limit (762.0). Some smaller empires have lower limits in their order of battle.
(549.121): #
(where '#' is the cost of production)
Quote:
All older references in the build column are now obsolete as the new (549.0) Auxiliary Warships rules cover their production.

Frank Brooks sent me an email noting that the SITs had two formats for monitor pallets. These divide evenly with the old SITs I did using MPAL(CV) and the new ones Chuck/Ryan did using MPAL-V.
I changed all of them to the original MPAL (CV) type.

For the EP capacity of the xAAs, I see the LAA as about equivalent to a tug with 10 EPs (to keep round numbers). This leads to the SAA at 5 EPs, the JAA at 15 EPs and the HAA at 20 EPs (as a cargo pod is a cargo pod)...

FASCINATING!
Hull size upgrade paths given the can of worms it opens (SAC to HAA, SAV to to HAH, galzzions of others), perhaps the best solution is to just outlaw them in the relevant 549.x rule and remove from SIT? Plus one could try to do a downgrade from, say, a JAV to a SAV if there isn't enough pain in play...
NOTES BY SVC: We cannot "not" allow this as the conversions as as simple as tinker toys, just tack on another pod. Converts ICID, infinite conversions in infinite directions.
Every space control ship needs conversions from every smaller carrier, pft, scout, and armed aux.
Every scout needs convresions from every smaller scout and every armed aux.

UNNECESSARY AS NOTE POSTED PRIOR TO THIS TOOK CARE OF THE OUTLAW ISSUE.
Assumption: A20 (@10) and F111 (@9) are not available when the Feds have PFs. The F101 (@8) is the Federation's heavy fighter (same value as everyone else) and remains legal.
I'm not sure if this was the intent, but the following are not listed on the various hulls and are thus assumed to be "From SAux?/LAux?/...". This is how I'd make them illegal. Use this or the previous posting as desired.
Warning: because there is some pending adjustments to the name of the PF carrying SCS versions, I've used alternate designations ("the PFT") for clarity.

NOTED
I have no plans to add dozens of "not allowed" notes. A prohibition against having both PFs and F111/A20 is already at the top of the aux section and sufficient to the purpose. I will add a second copy of it to the top and bottom of the Fed SIT.
If the Fed player builds a single F111 or a single A20 then he is forever prohibited from building any PFs. If he builds a single PF then he is forever prohibited from building F111s or A20s.
It occurs to me that we could in theory move all PFT ships to a separate section of the SIT. We could also move all of the F111 and A20 ships to a different section. How fast did it take
You to realize what an incredible mistake that would be?

PROCESSED
I provided two alternatives because I wanted to cover the problem from the succinct to the comprehensive ends. This allows the decision makers to evaluate the choices side by side and decide on merit. Regrettably, as far as I can tell the posted SIT for the Feds and the draft aux SITs lack the do not mix F111/A20 and PF note (I know the SFU well enough to know the do-not-mix rationale) so that hint was not available.
THE NOTE WAS ON THE LAST SEVERAL HEAVY AUX SITS I POSTED. IT WAS THERE BEFORE YOUR POST. YOU MISSED IT; IT WASN'T MISSING.--SVC

THE FTH IS FOUR GEES, AS FOR THE HCG AND HCV I AM NOT SURE WHAT THEY ARE; YOUR DATA WASN'T COMPLETE.
May I once again advocate to make the FTH a 3-8GGGG ship, and allow room for a HCG ship at 6-8GG on the list?? And similarly, add a HCV Assault Carrier with (6) fighter-factors?
Garth L. Getgen
FEDS: That's purely an ADB call whether or not to allow them since they are technically not ADB published ships as far as I know.

The Aux? are all gone now.
THESE WERE TEDIOUS TO DO AS EXCEL DOESN'T LIKE SEARCHING FOR QUESTION MARKS, BUT I AM PRETTY SURE I CAUGHT THEM ALL.
I discovered a blank cell (HYH conversions) and don't know why it's blank. The most recent back up is yesterday. I need CHUCK STRONG to let me know which of today's corrections got lost.
CHUCK SAID THURSDAY MORNING OR WEDNESDAY NIGHT THAT HE SENT A REPORT, BUT I NEVER GOT IT. I DID, HOWEVER, FIND HIS ORIGINAL REPORT AND DETERMINED THAT WITH ONE TYPO EXCEPTION THE DATA I POSTED MATCHED HIS LATEST REPORT.

The conversion to HAR from JAR cost is "2" but the conversion to JAR from LAR is "2+LS". Neither of these conversions add an "R" to the counter, so since there is no change in the repair capacity, shouldn't the conversion to JAR from LAR be just "2"?

JAP - This lists a flat 2EW in the notes. Meanwhile, the JSC[A] has variable EW, and the HAP has variable EW equivalent to the HSC[A]. I don't know the pods involved, but it looks like the JAP should be noted to use '(2EW:2AF)(1EW:4AF)'. -- James Lowry, 6/10/17
FEDS: (2EW:2AF)(1EW:4AF) are the correct EW numbers.
