Oh, heh, the graphics are totally fine; they are just different than the ones in the version I'm used to, so I was thrown off. They are totally fine graphics. Just different :-)

AT8

Moves have started!

In Hydran space, so far they have moved to reopen supply to SB 0215 and possibly take back planet 0416. Nothing much else yet.

In Kzinti space, they are currently attacking a Klingon reserve sitting on planet 1802, the Lyrans on 1504, and some province raiders out in the SW edge of Kzinti space.

So far the Feds have attacked Klingon held planet 2715 and sent a fleet to BATS 2517, the BATS they could reach without being reacted on, and nothing can protect.

Moves continue.

By Peter Bakija (Bakija) on Tuesday, December 05, 2017 - 08:53 pm: Edit

AT8

Moves seem to be winding up.

In Hydran space, the Hydrans are opening up supply to their SB in 0215, attacking some ships in 0218, attacking some ships in 0715, and have a force attacking Klingon held planet 0416, but that will probably get saved by Coalition reserves. The Hydrans are mostly playing it safe this turn, and avoind most of the Coalition ships.

In Fed space, the Feds are attacking Klingon BATS 2517 (which is undefended and no reserves are in range), closing off supply to the E4 interned in Orion space, retaking planet 2715, and helping the Kzinti at BATS 1707 and at planet 1802.

The Kzinti so far are attacking some province raiders in 0803 and 1304; BATS 0906; attacking planet 1504; attacking planet 1802; and have two pin fights around 1506, as well as hitting BATS 1707. 1707 will probably die. There are three Coalition reserves to effect fights in this area, and a few Kzinti ships left to move.

There isn't a ton left to move at this point--a Fed battle line in 2312 that can't really get anywhere new without getting pinned; a few ships that could go and engage things already being engaged. A few more Kzinti can move--they might send some currently in hex 1605 ships to 1506, but it remains to be seen at press time.

Moves continue.

By Peter Bakija (Bakija) on Thursday, December 07, 2017 - 09:30 am: Edit

AT8

Moves are done and combat is underway.

Nothing really changed from above; the Kzinti declined to attack planet 1506, and just settled for a pin fight in open space. The Lyrans sent reserves to save BATS 0906 and to save Klingon held planet 0416; The Klingons sent a reserve to help fight at 1707 (which will get killed if the Kzinti are persistent, but now at least the Klingons can put up a good fight), a reserve to help fight at planet 1504 (which will probably get saved?), and a reserve to go fight Hydrans in hex 0218. The Hydrans will win that fight, certainly, but at least the Klingons can now probably kill something in return.

By Peter Bakija (Bakija) on Monday, December 11, 2017 - 05:14 pm: Edit

AT8

Combat continues. A lot of little ships have been killed (the Kzinti got 3FF vaporized at BATS 0906 when Lyrans showed up to save it); planet 1504 was successfully held by the Coalition. The Alliance are going to kill BATS 1707 and BATS 2517, as well as take back planet 2715. The Klingons accidentally got two D7Cs blown up in random open space pin fights (where the Kzinti rolled well both times).

By Peter Bakija (Bakija) on Tuesday, December 12, 2017 - 05:39 pm: Edit

AT8

Combat is over!

In Hydran space, the Hydrans reopened supply to SB 0215, failed to recapture planet 0416, and retook a bunch of provinces.

In Kzinti space, the Kzinti retook planet 1802, cleared up the western provinces of raiders, helped kill BATS 1707, and failed to retake planet 1504.

On the Fed front, the Feds killed BATS 2517, retook planet 2715, and helped the Kzinti at 1707.

A bloody turn, in terms of dead ships:
-LYR: CW, 2FF
-KLI: 3D7C, F5L, 3F5E, F5, E4

-ZIN: CM, 3FKE, FFK, SF, 3FF
-HYD: CU, HN
-FED: 2CA

The Klingons also lost 2BATS.

On to retrogrades and strat moves!

By Jason Langdon (Jaspar) on Wednesday, December 13, 2017 - 05:13 pm: Edit

Other than a silly mistake in sending too many ships to an undefended BATS which cost me an additional FF when a Reserve showed up I think it was a pretty good turn for the Alliance.

Destroying BATS 1707 was pretty costly but it also saw the Klingons lose some big ships too.

I was holding out to destroy the BATS in a single round but the dice never went my way, so after a few rounds of trading ships I decided to cripple the BATS and at that point Peter decided it was time to abandon it.

The Kzinti lost a few FKE so there may be some ad hoc ships on the go for a while, or I will have to dig up some old EFF which new FKE get built.

The Feds again have tried to block supply to the E4 in Orion space, so we shall see how that goes.

Klingons are upgrading MB over Hydran homeworld into BATS currently.

By Peter Bakija (Bakija) on Thursday, December 14, 2017 - 09:07 pm: Edit

CT9

Moves have started. In Hydran space, the Coalition are currently in the process of pinning all the Hydran ships possible. There are two off map reserves consisting of a PAL, 3CW, a couple DD, and then 7 or so FFs and some PGS.

By Peter Bakija (Bakija) on Saturday, December 16, 2017 - 10:03 am: Edit

CT9

Moves are done and combat is underway. Nothing was attacked in Kzinti space, although some ships were moved around to hold provinces. In Hydran space, the Coalition will take back planet 0519, seal off the Old Colonies again, and have a likely pinning fleet on SB 0215.

In Fed space, the Lyran expeditionary force attacked BATS 2308, the Klingons attacked BATS 2816, 3016, will recapture planet 2715, capture neutral planet 2214, and sent large fleets to planets 2106 and 2306.

The Feds sent two reserves to planet 2306, which will probably dissuade the Klingons from taking it.

By Peter Bakija (Bakija) on Saturday, December 16, 2017 - 10:27 pm: Edit

CT9

Combat is over! The Coalition accomplished all they were going to accomplish in Hydran space (including pinning and not having an approach fight at SB 0215, and then leaving). In Fed space, they killed 3BATS, recaptured planet 2715, captured planet 2106, and shot 3PDU off planet 2306 before deciding that they weren't gonna win that fight, especially after having their D6S blown up for their trouble.

Ships killed:
-Hydran: 2HN
-Fed: FF

-Klingon: D6S

Not a lot of serious combat this turn. Mostly the Coalition attacked where the Alliance was weak.

By Peter Bakija (Bakija) on Sunday, December 17, 2017 - 06:06 pm: Edit

Map as of end of CT9:

By Peter Bakija (Bakija) on Friday, December 22, 2017 - 05:07 pm: Edit

AT9

Economy wise, the Feds built a full run of ships including a full cost CVS, then overbuilt 10(?!?)FFs. They repaired about 15EPs worth of ships on top of that. The Kzinti built a CVS, some CM hulls, and a bunch of various FFs. The Hydrans scraped together enough money to build the IC off map (i.e. the CVA with 20 fighters). Their treasury is mostly empty now.

Moves have started. The Hydrans just reopened their supply to the Old Colonies, and attacked in a few places with enough ships that they'll win against an Coalition reserves that show up. But they aren't going near the Coalition fleet in 0617 which is building a BATS currently.

Moves continue.

By Paul Howard (Raven) on Saturday, December 23, 2017 - 03:45 am: Edit

Let me guess - there was no way the Hydrans could get into 617?

I am then guessing that BATS will become a SB......and the Hydrans will not be able to get in next turn?

By Peter Bakija (Bakija) on Saturday, December 23, 2017 - 09:16 am: Edit

All of these things are correct.

By Peter Bakija (Bakija) on Saturday, December 23, 2017 - 08:00 pm: Edit

Yeah, the Hydran front is currently kind of a stalemate--the Coalition have enough ships in 0617 to pin the Hydrans out, so they Klingons are putting up a SB. The Hydrans are stationed at SB 0215, which gets pinned, cut off from supply, and then reopens supply, etc. The Hydrans can attack Lyran SB 0411 if they want, but the Lyrans have about 60 ships there (over and above the ships at 0617), so the Hydrans could kill SB 0411, but it would cost them a lot. The Coalition could kill SB 0215, but it would cost them a lot. So other than tying up a lot of Coalition ships, not much is happening on the Hydran front.

By Richard B. Eitzen (Rbeitzen) on Saturday, December 23, 2017 - 08:20 pm: Edit

That;s more or less what the Hydran wants though. :p

By Jason Langdon (Jaspar) on Saturday, December 23, 2017 - 09:58 pm: Edit

Well, as long as the Coalition is keeping upwards of 200 SE to keep the Hydrans at bay Im okay with that.

By Peter Bakija (Bakija) on Saturday, December 23, 2017 - 10:49 pm: Edit

I mean, yeah, that's what they got going on; currently, like, the Hydrans are tying up about 200 Coalition ships (probably less, counting SEQs of fighters), and the Coalition are collecting, like, 20EPs a turn from captured Hydran space. I dunno that it is working out that well for the Coalition, except that if they hadn't crushed the Hydrans, well, the Hydrans would be adding, like, another dozen ships a turn to the war effort...

By Peter Bakija (Bakija) on Sunday, December 24, 2017 - 09:45 am: Edit

AT9

Moves have started on the Fed/Kzinti/Klingon front--the Kzinti attacked a sort of stranded Klingon fleet in 1703, landed a fleet on held planet 1504, sent a significant fleet to Klingon BATS 1809 (that will probably die); Feds sent a fleet to held planet 2106, attacked some province raiders in the south.

Lots of ships still to move.

By Peter Bakija (Bakija) on Tuesday, December 26, 2017 - 09:35 am: Edit

AT9

Moves are done!

In Hydran space, there are just 2 fights; one in 0217 where the Coalition will lose an E4 and flee and one in 0715 where both Coalition reserves went, and will probably see both sides lose an FF and then combat will be over.

On the Kzinti front, a lone FF is under attack in 1403, but a vastly too big for this Lyran reserve showed up to save it; a whole lot of Kzinti have attacked the Coalition held planet 1504, which they may or may not take back; they have attacked a random stranded fleet in 1703 that will probably see each side lose something small. The Kzinti are also attacking BATS 1809, which will probably die, but the Klingons sent a reserve to do some damage.

On the Fed front, the Feds are likely taking back planet 2106, fighting a probably one round big pin fight in 2206, they attacked planet 1910 which will be saved by a Klingon reserve, are killing an E4 in 2009, killing an F5 in 2313, killing an E4 holding planet 2214, and attacking BATS 2416, which they may or may not kill.

The Feds and Kzinti are making significant headway against the Klingons. If only the Coalition could get someone else to help against the Feds soon...

By Jason Langdon (Jaspar) on Tuesday, December 26, 2017 - 04:29 pm: Edit

I think you should try that trick where the Romulans dont enter the war !

By Peter Bakija (Bakija) on Thursday, December 28, 2017 - 09:37 am: Edit

AT9

Combat is well underway. The Alliance offensive is rolling along nicely; the Feds killed BATS 2316, losing a CA and taking a poorly placed SAV with them; the Kzinti are about to kill BATS 1809; the Kzinti reclaimed planet 1504 (the Coalition could have fought for a while there, but it didn't seem worth the effort, as the Kzinti had a lot more fighters and a ton of ships with them, so both sides lost a ship and the Coalition left after one round). The Feds retook planet 2106. In Hydran space, the Hydrans killed an E4 in one hex, and the Hydrans traded an HR for a D7 in another.

A couple more fights to happen.

By Peter Bakija (Bakija) on Friday, December 29, 2017 - 10:36 pm: Edit

AT9

Combat is over!

The Kzinti and Feds killed 2 Klingon BATS, recaptured a few planets, and generally killed bigger ships than they lost. The Hydrans stayed about the same.

Ships Killed:
-ZIN: BC, 3FKE, FFK, FF
-HYD: HR
-FED: CA, DE, 2FF

-KLI: 2D7, D6, D5, F5L, F5, 3E4, (SAV)

Klingons lost 2BATS. Coalition lost control of planets 1504, 2106, and 2214.

On the upside: Romulans!

That's not something I ever have uttered before in my life...

Klingons have supply TG in 2107. Lyrans have supply TG in 1910. Klingons are upgrading BATS>SB over Hydran Homeworld.

I have never in my life of F+E that has spanned 25 years and innumerable games played the Romulans in any context, so I have no idea if I did them correctly. I think I did? Like, I have those 5 provinces and 2 minor planets as unexplored. I think they can make a SUB on T10. It's all new to me!
