CT13

And the turn is over!

In Hydran space, there are 2 solid reserves (0416, 0617), a lot of ships in 0617, and the Hydrans in 0519 are cut off from the off map.

In Kzinti space, there are 2 solid reserves in 1407, a lot of ships in 1407, a fleet on planet 1001 and a fleet on planet 1504.

On the Fed/Klingon front, there are a lot of ships and 2 solid reserves in 1910, a lot of ships (about 70) in 2611, a fleet on planet 2715, and a modest reserve in 2916.

On the Fed/Rom front, there are a lot of ships (about 100) 0n 3711, about 30 ships in 3511, a fleet on 3612, 2 pretty good reserves on 4214, most of the North Fleet (including a full reserve) on 4411, and a fleet on 4812.

Ships Killed:
-LYR: FFE
-KLI: TGB+DD, D6M, D6S, D5S, D5, 2F5E, 2E4A
-ROM: KRC, KRM, KRS, 3FAL, K5S

-ZIN: 2FF
-HYD: AH, AH, SC
-FED: CC, CA, 4DE, SC, 4FFE, FF, (SAV)

Feds also lost a SB (3611) and got planet 2509 devastated.

Another bloody turn, with 17 ships on each side being whacked.

AT13

The Federation generated about 174EPs, and built DN+, CVS, CA (converted to a second CVS), 6NCL, 6DE (?!?), 6FF, 6FFE, SWAC, and then overbuilt 5FF, and activated a cruiser, using all their money and treasury (which was about 40 bucks, most of which was salvage). Feds end econ with 10 bucks in treasury.

The Kzinti generated about 58EPs, and built CV, MEC, DWE, BC, NCA, 2CM, 2DW, 3FFK. Kzinti end econ with 11 bucks in treasury.

The Hydrans generated about 27EPs, and had about 18 saved; they built HR, LN, and 10 various FFs. Hydrans end with a buck in treasury.

The Gorn generated their normal income (87); builds TG, MCC, HDE, HD, HDS, 3BD, BDE, DDE, DD, and 3PDU on the homeworld; activates an off map CL, ends econ with about 5 bucks.

In total, the Alliance put 69 new hulls on the map this turn (outbuilding the Coalition's 59 by 10)

Yay in 40 turns we will be at Hull Parity !!!

Did the Federation build 1 or 2 SWACs? If one, why not two?

By Peter Bakija (Bakija) on Friday, February 16, 2018 - 10:27 pm: Edit

Just the free one. Why not two? It costs money to build 2. It doesn't cost money to build 1. So I'd imagine.

By Jason Langdon (Jaspar) on Friday, February 16, 2018 - 11:51 pm: Edit

Yup. Happy with a free one each turn.

AT13

Moves are underway. In Hydran space, the Hydrans are reopening supply and have sent a lot of ships to planet 0416; the Coalition are meeting them ship for ship, but still have more stuff there.

In Kzinti space, the Kzinti are attacking all the various province raiders and held planets, and have sent 4 ships to possibly go kill BATS 0906.

On the Fed/Klingon front, the Feds are attacking a lot of province raiders, and sent a huge pile of ships to Coalition held planet 1910. The Coalition didn't have enough ships there to pin them away.

On the Fed/Romulan front, the Feds have started attacking province raiders and moving cripples out of the front.

All still remains quiet on the Gorn front. They have sent a small fleet to attack neutral planet up in the NE neutral zone, however.

Moves continue.

AT13

Moves are done.

In Hydran space, the Hydrans are in a disadvantaged fight at planet 0416, and in two small fights in 0215 and 0217, both likely saved by reserves.

In Kzinti space, the Kzinti are attacking province raiders in 0802 and 1304; battling a fleet which they might push away at planet 1504, are facing a reserve at planet 1105, are attacking BATS 1307, which they can probably kill if they are tenacious, planet 1506 which is defended by a reserve and probably going to see the Kzinti repulsed, and have 4 ships at undefended BATS 0906 which they can probably kill.

On the Fed/Klingon front, the Feds are hitting province raiders in 2208 and 2212, attacking Romulan held planet 2214 (which they will take), Klingon held planet 1910 (where they are advantaged), a big fleet in 2611 (a pinning action), province raiders in 2714 (saved by a reserve), and Klingon held planet 2715 (which they will probably take).

On the Fed/Romulan front, the Fed are only hitting a couple small Romulan ships in two hexes, and avoided most of the Romulan fleet.

The Gorn again failed to attack the Romulans.

AT13

Combat is underway. So far in Kzinti space, the Kzinti have traded a bunch of FFs for an inordinate number of cruisers (the Kzinti have been rolling well, and hitting, like, exactly 28 or 24 points a lot...), but the Coalition held on to planets 1001, 1105, 1504, and 1506. The Kzinti killed undefended BATS 0906, and just killed well defended BATS 1307 and are deciding what to do now that the BATS is dead and they want to flee, but have a crippled [CV, MEC, FKE] group tht got mauled, and the Lyrans have a STL to pursue them with.

By Peter Bakija (Bakija) on Wednesday, February 21, 2018 - 04:44 pm: Edit

AT13

In the combat over BATS 1307, the Kzinti killed the BATS, but saw a [CV, MEC, FKE] group get crippled (mauler), and then the Lyrans rolled well enough to kill the whole CV group in pursuit with the STL they have been shuffling around to no effect for the last couple years.

So the Kzinti lost a CV for the first time in the game, which required them attacking a well defended BATS and the Lyrans having two big maulers to use. On the upside, the Kzinti killed 2BATS this turn.

Combat continues.

Are you using FCRs?

Generally if not, I overstuff to avoid that sort of thing.

By Peter Bakija (Bakija) on Wednesday, February 21, 2018 - 07:50 pm: Edit

Ah, yeah, there are FCRs. He could have used the FCR to save the CV. Lemme recalculate...

By Peter Bakija (Bakija) on Wednesday, February 21, 2018 - 07:57 pm: Edit

So yeah! The crippled CV was saved by a timely FCR intervention (there were FCRs in the hex)! Next time, perhaps we'll both remember that!

No Kzinti carriers have been harmed in the making of this game.

By Jason Langdon (Jaspar) on Wednesday, February 21, 2018 - 08:01 pm: Edit

Awesome advice thanks Richard. And really I should have known this because Im sure it was mentioned at some other point in the last week or 2.

I certainly wont be forgetting now !

My horribly expensive losses just became moderately expensive losses.

Cheers

By Peter Bakija (Bakija) on Wednesday, February 21, 2018 - 08:12 pm: Edit

Yeah, I always forget that rule, and now remember the various previous times I have forgotten that rule. Let's remember that from now on :-)

Although I don't think it can help the Gorn, who can't overstuff their CV groups (Gorn [CV+CLE+BDE] groups are particularly vulnerable to mauling crippling and then pursuit death, and I don't think they can shove an FCR in there to save a crippled group?)

By Richard B. Eitzen (Rbeitzen) on Wednesday, February 21, 2018 - 09:55 pm: Edit

They can, I think, if you first scuttle the outer escort. Also check rules on retreat, I think you can seperate out escorts, at least sometimes. I'd go look. :p

By Jason Langdon (Jaspar) on Wednesday, February 21, 2018 - 10:05 pm: Edit

Well, the Carrier had been crippled so it needed protection. Its probably a different matter if the Carrier is healthy and the escorts are crippled.

By Peter Bakija (Bakija) on Thursday, February 22, 2018 - 09:46 am: Edit

Yeah, reading all the various pursuit and group rules, it looks like you can leave behind crippled escorts for pursuit, and it looks like you can add FCRs to carrier groups during combat. So I guess a crippled Gorn CV group could detach a crippled escort, replace it with an FCR as the innermost escort, and avoid getting vaporized in pursuit. Handy.

AT13

Combat is over!

In Hydran space, not much happened--the Hydrans got foiled trying to kill some province raiders, and attacked planet 0416, but were repulsed in the face of significant EW disadvantage.

In Kzinti space, the Kzinti boldly killed 2BATS (0906, 1307) and killed some province raiders, but the Coalition managed to hold onto all the planets they were holding.

On the Fed/Klingon front, the Feds have pushed towards Klingon space, capturing planet 1910 and planet 2715 from the Klingons and planet 2214 from some Romulan FFs. There are currently, like, 70+ ships sitting on planet 1910 (i.e. in range of the Klingon Capital), but it remains to be seen how many of those ships will stay there.

On the Fed/Romulan front, not much happened; a couple Romulan FFs were killed when they failed to cloak out, but most of the Romulans were unengaged.

The Gorn continue to sit this one out.

Ships killed:
-LYR: 3CC, FF
-KLI: D7, F5L, 2F5, E4
-ROM: SEH, SN

-ZIN: 2FKE, EFF, 4FF, (MEC, FKE, FFK no salvage)
-HYD: 2AH, 2HN
-FED: SC, FFE, 2FF

So 11 Coalition down vs 18 Alliance ships. But the Klingons lost 2BATS and a few important planets.

AT13

The turn is over!

In Hydran space, the Hydrans pulled most of their ships to planet 0519, have a handful of ships at the opening to the Old Colonies, and have two solid reserves off map.

In Kzinti space, the Kzinti have big fleets in the Capital and over SB 1704; a few ships on planet 1202, an FF on planet 1802. Two moderate reserves off map.

On the Fed/Klingon front, most of the Fed ships pulled back to planet 2106 (~75 ships) and planet 2610 (~120 ships); they left a token force on planet 1910. They have a small reserve on SB 2204.

On the Fed/Romulan front, they have mostly pulled back from border. They have reserves of modest to small in 2808, 3008, and 3206 (none particularly brutal).

The Gorn have small fleets on numerous border BATS, good fleets with reserves on the forward SBs. And they captured planet 5403 last turn.

Things of note in Econ:
-Klingons gave up C8 for second B10 roll; they made it on the first roll, so I feel silly, but I would have felt even dumber if I didn’t pay for the second roll and got the 1 on the 1st roll. So there is a B10 now.

-Klingon and Lyran TGs in 1911 are supply points.

-Klingons are upgrading MB in 2916 into BATS.

CT14

Moves have started.

In Hydran space, the Coalition have piled ships on a handful of FFs at the mouth to the Old Colonies (presumably to dissuade the reserves from showing up and then retrograde places), but have otherwise left the main Hydran fleet in 0519 alone.

In Kzinti space, the Coalition pinned all the ships at SB 1704, sent a significant fleet to planet 1802, but mostly have not engaged much.

On the Fed/Klingon border, not much has happened yet, other than the Coalition moving back onto planets 1910, 2214, and 2715. Lots of ships left to move.

On the Fed/Romulan front, the Coalition are swarming on planets 3210, 3706, BATS 3508, and still have plenty left to move.

On the Gorn front, the Romulans crossed the border, sending a big fleet to SB 4206, a fleet to BATS 4208, and a fleet to planet 4309 so far. Also plenty of ships still to move in range.

Moves continue.
