I don't know that you can direct an RDF (not RDU btw) for 3 or at all. Nor do I know why one would direct an RDF in any case.

AT15

The Feds generate about 152 EPs, have 166 EPs to spend, build DN+, CA, CVS, NCA, 10NCL, DE, NSC, DWA, 13FF; they repair some stuff. They end econ with about 1 EP saved.

The Kzinti are loaded. They generate about 78 EPs, have 95 EPs to spend, build CV, MEC, DWA, NCA, MSC, CM, 3FFK, 3FF. They end econ with about 30 EPs saved.

The Gorn generate about 90 EPs, have 106 EPs to spend. They build MCC, 3HD, 4BD, 3DD, 2 PDU (20 now on homeworld). They end econ with 42 EP saved.

The Hydrans generate about 30 EPs (including some smuggled income). They build NEC, 11 various FFs. The end econ with about 2 EPs saved.

On T15, the Coalition put 55 new hulls on the map. This included 20 new fighter factors (paid in full), 18 FCR fighters, 4 mothball activations (Klingons out of mothball ships now), and 6 overbuilt FFs.

The Alliance put 65 new hulls on the map, including 15 new fighter factors.

We'll see how things continue to shake out, now that the Coalition is hitting exhaustion (as are the Kzinti and Hydrans).

AT15

The Federation adjusted their builds, realizing that DNGs are available, and that DWAs are just better than DEs at this point, to:

DNG, CVS, NCA, NSC, 9NCL, 2DWA, 15FF.

Also converting 3 various DNs to DNGs.

AT15

Raids are done and moves have started. The Hydrans successfully raid the two southern Lyran provinces, the Feds raid two of three Klingon border provinces (one raid was scared off by a lucky POL), the Kzinti successfully raided a north west Klingon province, and the Gorn raid one deep eastern Romulan province, costing the Coalition 6EPs, some sad POLs, and a couple squadrons of BATS fighters (on BATS that are unlikely to see combat this turn).

In Hydran space, the Hydrans are attacking a couple groups of province raiders and have sent most of their ships to fight most of the Coalition at planet 0416. There are about 30 Hydrans left off map (probably saved as reserves) and about 30 Coalition in 0617 to pin them just in case they try something wacky. I'm pretty sure that the Coalition reserve in 0416 is not pinned.

In Kzinti space, the Kzinti are hitting occupied planet 1001, some western space province raiders, some north eastern space province raiders, and have sent a fleet from SB 1704 into the edge of Fed space to engage the fleet with the B10.

Over in Gorn space, the Gorn are fighting back this turn, hitting some province raiders, and they have started piling ships on Romulan held planet 4309.

Moves continue. Plenty of ships to go, and plenty of targets to hit.

By Peter Bakija (Bakija) on Sunday, March 25, 2018 - 09:36 am: Edit

AT15

Moves continue!

In Hydran space, the Hydrans have now parked pretty much every ship they have on planet 0416, facing most of the Coalition fleet in Hydran space. It is unclear if they intend to try and take the planet back, or if they are just trying to pin everything so that the Coalition can't move their reserve. I gotta count ships :-)

In Kzinti space, they are now also hitting planet 1105 and 1504; They have a dozen or so ships left to move, but have so far completely avoided moving near 1407; there will be two unpinned Coalition reserves in the area.

On the Klingon/Fed front, the Feds are pinning everything so far, and hitting lots of province raiders. They have sent some ships to planet 1910, hit a Lyran fleet with some supply TGs in 1911, sent some ships to Romulan held planet 2214, and have pinned all the big Klingon fleets inside of Fed space.

On the Rom/Fed front, the Feds are attacking numerous province raiders, have hit Klingon held planet 3210, and Rom held planet 3306 and 3706.

On the Gorn front, the Gorn are on the offensive, trying up the Romulans they can, hitting planet 4309, and then crossing the Romulan border and attacking the three north western border BATS.

Moves continue.

By Peter Bakija (Bakija) on Monday, March 26, 2018 - 07:29 pm: Edit

AT15

Moves are mostly done. The only real change from above is the Feds sent some ships down toward Klingon held planet 2715 and the Kzinti sent a bunch more ships to go tangle with the B10 in 2004. A few moves left to resolve and then the Coalition move a bunch of reserves.

As of press time, there are 33 battle hexes, and will probably be at least one more before moves are done.

By Peter Bakija (Bakija) on Monday, March 26, 2018 - 08:57 pm: Edit

AT15

Moves are done. As noted, there are now 34 battle hexes. The Coalition have moved reserves:

-Lyrans sent reserves to planets 1105 and 1910, possibly saving both targets. They had another reserve at planet 0416, which turned out to be exactly pinned (161 Hydran SEQ vs 161 Coalition SEQ).

-The Klingons sent reserves to planet 1504, a random attack on some province raiders in 2108, planet 2214, and planet 3210. In all but 3210, the reserves will certainly win those fights; 3210 is up in the air.

-The Romulans sent reserves to planet 3706 and BATS 4710. Planet 3706 has an uncertain outcome; BATS 4710 will likely be saved by the Reserve. A third small reserve is pinned at BATS 4910.

AT15

Combat is underway! So far the Alliance has killed a bunch of little Coalition ships, including continuing to abuse the poor northmost Klingon squadron up on the NW edge of Fed space, having been caught out of supply and previously mangled by Kzinti reserves. They gotta get their old lady's car outta that bad area.

The Kzinti rolled poorly against the Lyrans at planet 1001 (and the Lyrans rolled up), and it remains to be seen if they stick around and fight or not.

By Peter Bakija (Bakija) on Saturday, March 31, 2018 - 11:25 am: Edit

AT15

Combat rages on! We are about halfway across the map, going west to east.

In Hydran space, not much happened. A couple small ships got killed, the Hydrans fought over planet 0416 for a couple rounds and then left when the IC's small escorts were dead.

In Kzinti space, the Kzinti chased the Lyrans off planet 1001, were repulsed from Coalition held planets 1105 and 1504 (they were saved by reserves showing up), liberated planet 1802, beat up a few province raiders, and fought an open space fight in the edge of Fed space against the B10, where both sides traded small ships, and then the B10 retreated a hex (that fleet wasn't in range of anything particularly important in the hex they were in and saw no advantage in trading hulls and cripples for smaller hulls and fighters).

On the Fed/Klingon front, the Feds liberated planet 2106, were repulsed from planets 1910 and 2214 by reserves, pushed a couple Coalition supply TGs in 1911 back a hex, and are engaged in fights in open space vs big Klingon fleets in 2410 and 2715. Both of those fights are the result of Klingons reacting forward towards approaching Fed fleets, so unlikely to be decisive.

So far, 11 Alliance and 12 Coalition ships have died.

By Peter Bakija (Bakija) on Monday, April 02, 2018 - 12:03 pm: Edit

AT15

Combat is almost done! Over on the Fed/Romulan side of things, the Feds neglected to kill a bunch of weasely province raiders that made their cloak evasion roll (I think I'm at, like, 8/11 for cloaked evasion this turn, or 73%, which is better than expected); got chased away from planets 3210 by the Klingons and 3706 by the Romulans (reserves when to both planets), but took back planet 3306.

The Gorn have managed to kill Romulan BATS 4910 and 5010 for minimal damage (a couple crippled DDs; they were undefended) and are currently fighting over Roman held planet 4309; the Gorns have about twice the ships of the Romulans there, so it seems unlikely that the Romulans will try and keep the planet this turn.

A few more fights to go, most of which will be quick. At press time, the Alliance have lost about 16 ships and the Coalition about 19, give or take.

AT15

Combat is over!

In Hydran space, not much happened. A few small ships got killed, the Hydrans attacked, and then promptly fled from, planet 0416.

In Kzinti space, the Kzinti recaptured planets 1001 and 1802, killed some small ships, and engaged the Klingons in Fed space.

On the Fed/Klingon front, the Feds recaptured planet 2106, pushed some supply TGs back from hex 1911, and killed some small ships.

On the Fed/Romulan front, the Feds recaptured planet 3306, but were repulsed from planets 3210 and 3706.

On the Gorn front, the Gorn killed BATS 4910 and BATS 5010, but were repulsed from Romulan held planet 4309 and BATS 4710.

The Romulans rolled up on cloaked evasion, hitting, like, 9 of 11 cloaked evasions, saving a bunch of little ships from destruction.

Ships Killed:
-ZIN: NCA, 2FFK, FF
-HYD: AH, HN
-FED: SC, DWS, 8FF
-GRN: CL, HD, BD

-LYR: CC, DW, DWS, FF
-KLI: D5, 3F5, 3F5E, 4E4, (F5L)
-ROM: FAL, SEE, 2SN

Romulans also lost 2BATS. Alliance lost 19 ships, Coalition lost 20 ships.

By Paul Howard (Raven) on Thursday, April 05, 2018 - 04:41 am: Edit

So a net swing of around 10 ships to the Alliance on turn 15 (although a Alliance SB did die.... and ships deaths were pretty even) - other than 'not a lot', what can the Alliance do with those 10 ships?

(I am guessing 2 similar turns will see that 10 ship gain increase to about 30 - which certainly starts to become more relevant).

By Peter Bakija (Bakija) on Thursday, April 05, 2018 - 09:29 am: Edit

Yeah, the Alliance is already pushing forward in most places.

Hydran space is mostly a deadlock, but the Hydrans are growing more ships in the area than the Coalition can afford to send there to reinforce. In a few turns, they will become certainly problematic.

The Kzinti are growing out of control. At press time, there is only so much damage they can do, but I'm sure as time goes on, they'll have more opportunity for havoc.

The Klingon/Fed front is also mostly a stalemate at this point. The Klingons have trouble holding onto any supply point in range of Earth, as the Feds have a *lot* of ships on that side of the map.

The Romulan/Fed front is much more advantageous for my side, and the Klingons have a supply point in range of Earth there (as do the Romulans), but it remains to be seen what they can do with it.

The Gorn front is much less terrible for the Gorns than in my previous couple games where the Gorn showed up. The Romulans have ship superiority, but it remains to be seen how long that will keep up as well.

By chris upson (Misanthropope) on Thursday, April 05, 2018 - 10:09 am: Edit

the zin and gorn are both unusually strong, strong enough to maintain some initiative. but fred is really gasping, or at least 150 EPs is always where i personally have identified the danger zone to be. competitive and atypical, makes for an appealing game to watch.

peter, i think you still have my email address. i would love a copy of the board, theres just so many details that we can't get in the write-ups.

By Peter Bakija (Bakija) on Thursday, April 05, 2018 - 04:25 pm: Edit

If you scroll up some, I have been posting links to the board at the end of every Coalition turn for a while now, and they all still work as links, so you can kind of chart success.

The Kzinti have a strong economy currently 'cause I lost track of when their capital recovered from the most recent devastation, and so this turn, they had a huge pile of money. It remains to be seen if I'll go back and re-devastate this turn, but it is certainly a possibility.

The Gorn are very strong still; they neglected to attack the Romulans on T12; and then the Romulans neglected to attack them on T13 (which may or may not have been a good idea...), and then the Gorn again neglected to attack on T13; I think the hostilities started in earnest on CT14. The Romulans are, at the very least, poised to do some economic damage to the Gorn this upcoming turn.

By Paul Howard (Raven) on Friday, April 06, 2018 - 04:50 am: Edit

Well, my 2p would be...

Contain the Hydrans
Re-devastate 1401

Everything else is just filler.... IMHO!

About the only saving grace is the Kzinti can't do much damage to the Coalition - unless they start moving forward (leaving 1401 vulnerable) - as there is very little of value within say 7 of 1401...

Of course, when the Kzinti sneak within 6 hexes of 1411.... that phrase might become different :)

By Peter Bakija (Bakija) on Friday, April 06, 2018 - 07:34 am: Edit

It is worth noting that there is a Lyran SB (and 6PDU) in on the planet in 1407; a Klingon SB in 0617; both a Klingon and Romulan SB in 2916 (a very poorly planned location, given that the entire Tholian fleet can land on that hex on T22...)

By Richard B. Eitzen (Rbeitzen) on Friday, April 06, 2018 - 09:20 am: Edit

I think Red Claw SB is in 0404 and Foremost in 0608, which I have seen destroyed by the Kzinti (Peter in fact) before.

By Peter Bakija (Bakija) on Friday, April 06, 2018 - 11:55 am: Edit

Correct and correct. Hitting 0404 generally requires holding 1001; hitting 0608 needs 1105 in Kzinti possession. I mean, like, they, they can get there *without* planets to retrograde to and supply points. But it is a lot harder :-)

If the Kzinti started aggressively holding 1001 and/or 1105, things would get a lot dicier for the Coalition. But it is also not super easy to do these things.

AT15

We are kind of in a holding pattern at the end of AT15 as Jason is currently drowning in work. We will resume this week some time.

Ah I was wondering if it was over... are what :)

By Peter Bakija (Bakija) on Sunday, April 22, 2018 - 12:47 pm: Edit

AT15

The turn is over!

In Hydran space, the whole Hydran fleet moved off map, abandoning planet 0519. They have no reserves.

In Kzinti space, the Kzinti have 60 ships on SB 1704, a few ships on planets 1001 and 1802, the bulk of their fleet in 1401, and 2 moderate reserves off map.

On the Fed/Klingon front, the Feds have about 40 ships on planet 2306, about 30 ships on planet 2509, and pulled about 100 ships to SB 2808.

On the Fed/Romulan front, the Feds have about 100 ships on SB 3008, about 30 ships on SB 3504.

The Feds have 30 ships split up as 4 pretty even sized reserves (about 7 or 8 ships each) in 2905, being unpinnable there.

On the Gorn front, the Gorn have about 65 ships on SB 4206, about 40 ships on SB 4806, 14 ships at Capital hex 4403, and then two small reserves on Capital hex 4402.

CT16

Economic exhaustion sets in for the Coalition.

-Klingon SB in 2916 completed.

-TGA in 2206 drops BP and becomes Supply TG.

-TGA in 2108 picks up BP.

-TGC in 1814 becomes supply TG.

What was the reason for the Hydrans to move off map?

Even if the Hydrans was concerned about supply - they could have moved to Column 1XX or 2XX - as they are now unable to stop the Coalition from now easily bottling them up.

Plus - Coalition will get an extra Ep or two...

...I can't see what the Hydrans gain?
