CT17
Combat is over at 4806, with the SB going down in 7 rounds. The Romulans mostly mauled SIDS, while the Gorn mostly directed solid ships.
The Roms lost 3FAL, FHF, KRS, SPC, and took 9 more cripples (including a broken down FAL). The Gorn lost BDE, BD, took 13 cripples, and the SB exploded.
I imagine the next SB will be a lot tougher.
One fight left; we are in the middle of fighting over devastated planet 2509.
Combat continues.
By Jason Langdon (Jaspar) on Monday, June 11, 2018 - 09:43 pm: Edit |
Combat ended pretty quickly, with the Feds deciding that the loss of their Scout was enough to convince them to leave.

CT17
The turn is over!
In Hydran space, not much happened. The Coalition killed an HN, pushed the Hydrans off the map, and secured their hold of Hydran space.
In Kzinti space, the Coalition recaptured planet 1802, fought some inconclusive skirmishes, and cut the forward deployed ships in 0703 out of supply for now (15 ships, of which 6 are crippled).
On the Fed/Klingon border, the Coalition killed BATS 2201, captured planet 2403, recaptured (and promptly released) planet 2509.
On the Fed/Romulan border, the Coalition killed BATS 3206, recaptured planet 3306.
On the Gorn front, the Romulans killed BATS 4808, 5006, and SB 4806.
Ships Killed:
-LYR: CW, FF
-KLI: 2D6M, 2E4A, E4
-ROM: 3FAL, FHF, KRS, SPC
-ZIN: DD, 3FF
-HYD: HN
-FED: SC, 2FF
-GRN: BDE, BD
A modest turn, in terms of ship death, but a SB, 4BATS, and a minor planet all got killed.
The Lyrans have solid reserves in 0416, 0707, and 1811.
The Klingons have solid reserves in 1506, 1910, 2106, 3612.
The Romulans have solid reserves in 3210, 4110, and 4613.

There are significant Coalition fleets in:
Hydran Space: 0416, 0617.
Kzinti Space: 1407, 1506.
Fed/Klingon Border: 2106 (probably the biggest Klingon fleet on the map, led by the B10), 1910.
Fed/Romulan Border: 3210, 3509.
Gorn Border: 4309, 4411.
Those are the big fleets. Most of the other fleet counters on the map are a dozen or two ships.

I see around 25 battles happening in T17A.
Should be fun !!

Yaa?

Reckon I should have a crack at 30 battles?
You could help out by not reacting in all your small groups for Province disrupters and letting me beat on each group separately?
By Peter Bakija (Bakija) on Wednesday, June 13, 2018 - 09:23 am: Edit |
"Attention Romulan Ship Captains! Do not, repeat, do not react to help out your Klingon neighbors and then weasel away by cloaking! That is, I dunno, too helpful?"

The Feds generate about 134EPs, have about 172EPs to spend. They build DNG, CVS (paying full for fighters), NCA, 9NCL, NSC, DWA, 15FF, a replacement Scout Pod, and get a free FFB. The spend 14 on repairs and end econ with about 2EPs left.
The Kzinti generate about 42EP, have about 78EP to spend. The build CV (using 6FFF), NCA, CM, MEC, MSC, DWE, 3FFK, 3FF; spend 9 on repair, end econ with about 18EP left.
The Hydrans generate about 23EP, have about 30EP to spend. The build 9CU and convert 2RN>CV (using about 17FFF they have saved up), ending econ with about 4EP left.
The Gorn generate about 82EP, have about 147EP to spend. They build CC, MCC, 3HD, 4BD, 2DD; they end econ with about 91EP (?!?!?) saved.

In FA y176 (i.e. T17):
The Coalition put 59 new ships and 22 new fighters on the map (this includes 9 overbuilt FFs and 22 fighters paid for at full).
The Alliance put 62 new ships and 24 new fighters (6 of which were paid for at full) on the map.

AT17
The Alliance raided 7 different Coalition provinces, successfully disrupting 4 of them (in 3 different hexes, POLs rolled 11's, scaring away the raiding ships).
Moves have started.
In Hydran space, the Hydrans have sent pinning forces to hit a few hexes of small Coalition forces.
In Kzinti space, the Kzinti hit planet 1001, the out of supply, trapped force also hit 1001, the Kzinti have hit a few hexes of small Coalition forces.
On the Fed/Klingon front, the Feds have hit numerous small Klingon forces.
On the Fed/Rom front, again, a few small Coalition forces have been hit.
In Gorn space, again, a couple hexes of small forces hit so far.
Lots more to move.
By Peter Bakija (Bakija) on Tuesday, June 19, 2018 - 07:25 pm: Edit |
AT17
Moves seem to be winding up.
In Hydran space, there are two small fights with 4 ship Hydran forces vs smaller Coalition forces (province raiders) and then a huge fight of most of the Hydran navy vs most of the Coalition navy over planet 0416.
In Kzinti space, there are numerous small fights (advantaged towards the Kzinti) vs province raiders, evenish fights over planets 1001, 1105, 1504; a giant fight over planet 1506. An the Kzinti are hitting Klingon BATS 1107 (the last border BATS, undefended ar press time).
On the Fed/Klingon border, there are numerous fights vs province raiders, and then a billion ships vs a billion ships over planet 2106.
On the Fed/Romulan border, again, numerous attacks on province raiders, and then big fights over planets 3210 and 3509.
On the Gorn front, a few more fights vs province raiders, and a giant mob fight in hex 4208 (which is open space).
Currently there are 29 battle hexes. A few more ships to move.
By Jason Langdon (Jaspar) on Tuesday, June 19, 2018 - 07:27 pm: Edit |
1 more battle to find to hit the 30 mark !
And I have a few ships left to move so hopefully will find a way !!

Strike that! Reverse it! There is not a giant pile of Gorns and Romulans in open space 4208; Jason misread the map and meant to send those ships to planet 4309. They may or may not get pinned out of that hex.
By Peter Bakija (Bakija) on Wednesday, June 20, 2018 - 05:53 pm: Edit |
AT17
And by that, I mean *I* misread the map (Jason was on point; I got confused as to where he was going :-).
Currently, there is a giant mob pinning fight in hex 4308 with 85SEQ of Romulans vs at least 85SEQ of Gorn. They have 7SEQ of ships that can go forward to planet 4309 if they want.
And now there are at least 30 combat hexes.

Movement is done!
In Hydran space, there are 3 combats. One 4 vs 4 that the Hydrans will win, one 4 vs 5 one that the Coalition will probably win due to the timely arrival of a single reserve DN that could move, and then a giant mob of ships on planet 0416 that has more than 150 SEQ per side that either side could win--depends on what the Hydrans feel like doing.
In Kzinti space, there are 10 fights. 5 of them are 4 Kzinti beating up smaller Klingon ships that will be won by the Kzinti; at 1001, the Kzinti will probably push the Klingons off the planet; 1105 and 1504 will probably both see the Coalition holding the planet due to the arrival reserves; planet 1506 has a lot of ships with significantly more Coalition than Kzinti, so probably will see the Coalition holding the planet, but the Kzinti can fight and burn fighters for a while; in 1107, the Kzinti will kill an undefended BATS.
On the Fed/Klingon front, there are 5 fights. 3 of them are mobs of Feds beating up small groups of Klingons; one is a Klingon reserve showing up to save a small group of Klingons; 2106 sees 130+ Klingons faced with 170+ Feds. The Klingons have the compot advantage (B10+drone bombardment). The Feds have more ships, more fighters, and probably better EW. Again, remains to be seen what the Fed intention is.
On the Fed/Romulan border, there are 7 fights. 4 of them are small groups of Feds beating up smaller groups of Coalition that the Feds will win, but in a few instances, the Romulans might cloak evade out of death; at planets 3210 and 3509 there are large numbers of ships on both sides where the outcome is uncertain (reserves showed up to bolster the Coalition in both); planet 3306 had 4 Feds attacking a single Romulan, but 3 reserve ships squeaked out of 3210 to go and probably hold the planet.
In Gorn space, there are 5 fights. 4 of them are 4+ Gorns beating up a few province raiders, the outcome of which will depend on cloaked evasion rolls (but the Gorn will win all of those hexes); there is a big mob of Gorns and Romulans (80+ ships each) in 4308 as a pin fight, with the Gorn having an edge.
30 battle hexes. A significant number of them are big and over hard points that the Coalition want to hold on to (so they aren't just gonna fight a round and retreat), so the Alliance can fight as long as they feel like fighting there, and can burn up a lot of fighters.
By Peter Bakija (Bakija) on Sunday, June 24, 2018 - 12:28 pm: Edit |
AT17
Combat is underway! So far, numerous small fights have resolved, seeing 8 small Coalition ships explode (3 of which the result of failed cloaked evasion rolls of about 5 so far, so Alliance is ahead on cloak hunting). We have killed a Fed FF when a reserve showed up to save some ships on the Fed/Klingon front (the reserve didn't have anywhere else important it could go). A handful of "let's beat up province raiders!" fights resulted in nothing dying and just a few ships getting crippled with possible pursuits happening.
There are big fights that just started in 0416 (ton of Hydrans vs ton of Coalition); 2106 (ton of Feds vs a smaller ton of Klingons); 4308 (ton of Gorn vs ton of Romulans), 1506 (ton of Kzinti vs much bigger ton of Coalition) and then much more modest fights in 1001, 1105, 1504.
Plenty of carnage to come!

Combat is well underway. Most of the small fights are done; the big fight over 2106 ended after 2 rounds, when the Klingons rolled well and the Feds rolled badly both rounds, so they just retreated as it wasn't going anywhere. There are still big, multiple round fights ongoing in 0416, 1506, 3210, 3509.
As of press time, the Coalition have lost 16 ships and the Alliance have lost 11; the Alliance have only lost FFs; the Coalition have lost a BC and a few CW hulls as well.
Combat continues.

Last turn I won maybe 2 rolls in 25 battles. This turn I have won maybe 2 rolls in 30 battles.
I assume at some point luck turns my way??
By Peter Bakija (Bakija) on Thursday, June 28, 2018 - 08:05 am: Edit |
Well, to be fair, you have won more than 2 rolls in 30 battles; I can find at least 10 actual fights where you won the die roll with a quick scan. Just, ya know, not by a lot; most of your winning rolls see you winning by 1; I have rolled 5 or 6 a lot, though.

seems you have caught Paul Howard's luck ;)
