Star Fleet Universe Discussion Board: Federation & Empire: F&E Annual Gaming Events: StratCon 2019 - Feb 16-24 (Sandusky, OH): Archive through September 24, 2018
By Lee Hanna (Lee) on Monday, February 26, 2018 - 08:31 pm: Edit

FYI, Winterfest is at winterfestwargaming DOT com; there are some pictures up from past events.

Sandusky is the home of the Cedar Point amusement park, so it has a lot of restaurants that aren't busy this time of year. It is northern Ohio, but the weather hasn't been a big problem for any attendees in the past.

I've attended all or part of every Winterfest and one StratCon, I think it could be a good fit.

By Nick Blank (Nickgb) on Monday, February 26, 2018 - 09:53 pm: Edit

I would be interested in F&E in Sandusky. I live about 30 min away!

By Tony L. Thomas (Scoutdad) on Tuesday, February 27, 2018 - 01:47 pm: Edit

I could probably do Sandusky, assuming someone else local was going, too... mike???

Easy enough to go to Dayton a day or two early to see grandkids... leave wife there to play with the bambinos... and hopefully go north with a fellow F&E'er.

Tony you can tag along with me, but you can't force me away from the OCS tables...

By Tony L. Thomas (Scoutdad) on Tuesday, February 27, 2018 - 03:18 pm: Edit

Who's gonna force you away? I'm looking to join in...

By Thomas Mathews (Turtle) on Tuesday, February 27, 2018 - 05:14 pm: Edit

Mike, if I'm able to attend, can I bum a ride with the usual incentives?

By Mike Curtis (Nashvillen) on Wednesday, February 28, 2018 - 10:31 pm: Edit

Sure, but that will about be the space I have with counter transport in mind.

By Mike Curtis (Nashvillen) on Wednesday, April 04, 2018 - 08:06 pm: Edit

Preliminary work on alternate location complete. We expect to sign contract and place deposit for July 7-15 later this week. Once we have signed we will have housing information for the Con hotel. It will be a significant deal for a 7 night or more stay. Please stay tuned!

This looks interesting, I'd be in if we want to move to this, I know last year we were talking about trying to move stratcon to a winter date. I've been worried that attendance has been waning the last couple of years, if this could spark new interest I am all for it (and less going on in February then Summer). Although I think we may have some attition to OCS (ahem, Mike...) maybe we can lure some of the other players to our tables...
How many tables can they accommodate for us?
what airport is near there?

By Ryan Opel (Ryan) on Saturday, May 26, 2018 - 11:40 pm: Edit

Tim,

No airport near it's about equal distance from Cleveland and Toledo, about an hours drive for either but fewer flights going in so a pickup or even splitting the airport shuttle service is possible.

It sounded like at least two tables shouldn't be a problem.

We do have a SFB Player who does Winterfest, Lee Hanna, and that's who I've gotten the information from.

FYI, if we are going to do this for 2019, we need to decide soon, like before StratCon2018 is over. How soon do they decide on a date, I noticed that they don't have the date for 2p19 on their page. PTO is hard to schedule in my group, the further out the more reliable.

By Nick Blank (Nickgb) on Wednesday, July 04, 2018 - 01:03 pm: Edit

I would still be interested in F&E (or other games) the Sandusky Winterfest location. I don't know when they decide on the dates for 2019 though.

By Ryan Opel (Ryan) on Wednesday, July 04, 2018 - 04:33 pm: Edit

They have dates of Feb 15 to 24 on FB. Best Western Inns and Suites, Sandusky, OH. Created on 1 July.

By David J Baldwin (Chiefdave) on Tuesday, July 10, 2018 - 12:18 am: Edit

Ryan mentioned this to me yesterday. I told my wife and she didn't say no. I will have plenty of PTO, can't use it before 1/1. Winter is better for me in so many ways, and so is Ohio.

By Tim Losberg (Krager) on Monday, July 16, 2018 - 06:08 pm: Edit

Can we get all the current details (dates, hotel booking info etc) updated to the banner?

By Tim Losberg (Krager) on Tuesday, July 17, 2018 - 08:02 pm: Edit

PTO requested and approved.
I am now F9!

By Nick Blank (Nickgb) on Tuesday, July 17, 2018 - 10:57 pm: Edit

shouldn't it say 2019 in the header? Fixed. - FEAR

By Tony L. Thomas (Scoutdad) on Wednesday, July 18, 2018 - 11:41 am: Edit

List me as F5, for now.

It's 1 week after my anniversary and 2 weeks after early estimates of grand-childs ETA.

As the date gets nearer and due date is more accurately confirmed, I'll update.

By Nick Blank (Nickgb) on Wednesday, July 18, 2018 - 06:24 pm: Edit

F8 for me. I have to arrange vacation time, but that should not be a problem. I would be driving in since I am sort of local. How long I stay each night depends on the weather. Will we have a 40 degree February, or a blizzard? You can never tell in Ohio.

By Jason E. Schaff (Jschaff297061) on Wednesday, July 18, 2018 - 06:43 pm: Edit

List me as F8. I definitely plan to be there.

By Thomas Mathews (Turtle) on Friday, August 10, 2018 - 01:22 pm: Edit

Due to multiple family events in 2019 I am officially F0 for any F&E event(s) scheduled in 2019. The events, so far, include a graduation, and a wedding.

What about Whiteside? Have you talked to him about it?
