>>*CL (MB) to LSC (MB) = CL still in Mothball Fleet.>>

Huh. Is there an advantage to doing this? Surely, there must be an active CL somewhere that could be converted to a LSC?

By Richard B. Eitzen (Rbeitzen) on Monday, May 07, 2018 - 04:07 pm: Edit

That's a thing that never occurred to me; converting mothballed Feds. Might be particularly useful if at limited war.

By Stewart Frazier (Frazikar2) on Monday, May 07, 2018 - 06:15 pm: Edit

Hmmm, is this (CL/LSC) legal? I think the Gorn mothball stays in the off-map area and major conversion are only at the capital...

(CDR may reduce the cost but does that change the major/minor conversion level?)

By Thomas Mathews (Turtle) on Monday, May 07, 2018 - 07:26 pm: Edit

The CL to LSC is a legal conversion for the Feds. With Diplomatic Income a number of conversions are possible between turns 2 and 6. The CL to LSC is one of those. Another is converting mothballed CAs to GSCs. (I have a tac note on these and more in the works.)

The Gorn CL to LSC is a major conversion normally costing 4 EPs.. 4402 is the capital shipyard. A CL was converted in 4402 to a LSC via conversion during repair (CDR) for 3 EPs.

Gorn 7th Fleet Activations cost 2 EPs before the activated ship can be brought on map. See (506.5).

The Hydarns have 2 small reserves off map.

The Kzintis have 2 powerful reserves in 1401.

The Vudar have a reserve fleet in the Hole.

The Federation have Reserves in 2604, 2611, 3604, and 3611. Although at the moment only the one in 2604 can go anywhere.

The Gorns have 2 full reserves in 4705.

The ISC have solid reserves in 5609, 5710 and 5817.

By Thomas Mathews (Turtle) on Tuesday, August 14, 2018 - 10:29 pm: Edit

The coalition op moves are complete for the spring of Y172. The Klingons have yet to invade Federation space.

More to follow later.

By Thomas Mathews (Turtle) on Friday, August 17, 2018 - 09:38 pm: Edit

4 Combat hexes in Hydran space.

The Hydrans lose a FLG, and Monitor as a combined Klingon and Lyran force capture the planet in 0519. The Lyrans have a crippled DW there.

In both 0119 and 0117 the Lyrans lose a DW for Hydran fighters.

In 0218 the Lyrans direct on a Hydran LN and have 2 crippled CWs to show for it.

By Thomas Mathews (Turtle) on Saturday, September 08, 2018 - 08:55 am: Edit

The Coalition half of the Spring of Y172 (turn 7) saw little activity in the east. The Paravians and Romulans only went after province raiders/holders.

In the Hydran theater the Klingons and Lyrans have managed to take all of the Hydran planets for the moment. The Hydrans do remain on the map going into the Alliance half of turn.

In the Kzinti Theater the Klingon manuevering backfired and managed to cut a fleet of 21 ships out of supply.

The Federation was not attacked by coalition forces and so remains at limited war.

Bill can elaborate more on this.

Alliance half of Spring TY172 Op Movement.

So far the Alliance has manuevered their fleets in a way to get numerical superiority in a small number of fighters in the west. 2 Battle hexes in Kzinti territory at 1001 which is currently controlled by the Carnivons and 1503 where a Klingon fleet is. The Carnivon and Lyran reserves there can reach 1001, but no reserve fleet, including the Klingons, can reach 1503.

The Hydrans and Vudar are still moving. The Vudar have captured another Klingon province and disrupted another Klingon province.

In the east the Gorns and ISC have trapped the majority of the Paravian fleet on the starbase in 5405. Sure to be a pin battle. The reserve fleets of Paravians can reach battle hexes in 5205, 5403 or 5405. The BATS in 5407 will die.

In Romulan space battle hexes are 4611, 4911, 5112, and 5117.

By Thomas Mathews (Turtle) on Monday, October 01, 2018 - 06:48 am: Edit

The Hydrans have battle hexes in 0212 (Lyran BATS), and 0315.

No Vudar battle hexes and the Klingons didn't react to a Vudar Fleet moving into the Hole.

Combat has started. The Gorns captured 5403 killing a monitor, SAR, and FTS for fighters.

The ISC kill the BATS in 5407 for fighters. Lose a FF in 5112.

By Thomas Mathews (Turtle) on Sunday, October 07, 2018 - 07:03 pm: Edit

The Gorns kill the BATS in 5205 for a crippled DD.

In 5106 The Gorns kill the 6 Fighters from the BATS in 5205, and in pursuit kill a FF, all for a crippled DD.

Combat has started in 5405. Once again a great Alliance combat line rolls another 1. Regardless of the outcome, the SB in 5405 is in a partial grid with 2 disrupted provinces and no planets.

By Thomas Mathews (Turtle) on Monday, October 08, 2018 - 06:11 pm: Edit

In 5405 the ISC kill the Paravian DN not in the form bonus slot and in return self kill a FF and 12 fighters, along with crippling a CVA, DE, 2xFF, and CL

In 5117 the ISC roll another 1 again with a battle line of well over 100. Directing on a FHF that was the flagship of the Romulan fleet. In return the dead FHF mauls a DE. Battle still in progress so more to come.

By Thomas Mathews (Turtle) on Monday, October 15, 2018 - 08:15 pm: Edit

Rd 2 of 5117 sees the ISC kill the Romulan SPS acting as a scout and the Romulans kill another DE. Then the Romulans run away after losing their EW shift leaving the planet to the ISC. Rd 3 results in dead ISC fighters in exchange for a montior and 2 PDUs.

In 4611 the Gorns kill the Romulan BATS in one round in exchange for a Gorn CL and crippled CVS and HD. The Gorns then retreat having accomplished their mission of killing the BATS.

In the West the Hydrans lose a HN in 0315 as both the LDR and Lyran Reserve fleets show up their.

The Hydrans kill the POL and BATS together in 0212 for a small number of fighters.

In 1001 Bill puts the Lyran fleet on the line. I kill a Lyran STT and lose a EFF in return. He then retreats to 0902.

In 1503 the Federation loses an NCL and some Kzinti fighters in exchange for a D5, F5L, F5, E4A and 5 Klingon fighters. The Klingons then retreat to 1603.

Retrogrades and Reserves are still on going for the end of the Alliance half of the Spring of Y172.

By Thomas Mathews (Turtle) on Monday, October 15, 2018 - 09:19 pm: Edit

The F5L in 1503 did make it to the Depot.

Despite the Alliance rolling poorly, generally they rolled lower than the coalition, they came out on top in terms of kills. Both sides lost 8 ships, but the Coalition lost 3 BATS, 2 Planets, a Mon, 2 PDUs, a FTS and SAR.

wait, 10 freeze attempts? the entire line just disappears without touching more than a fighter or 2? e-gad I better infiltrate that thing and fly it into the sun before anyone else gets hurt!

I don't see any under construction in the Empires of the Dead game. Oh wait they are under construction, by the ISC. Peace through superior firepower.

By Bill Steele (Bill83501) on Thursday, October 18, 2018 - 11:45 pm: Edit

I thought long and hard about building them, I certainly like them, but the cost! I figured I needed all the extra's early in the game to have a chance.

before this game and Bill and Teds Excellent Adventure, I have never been in a game that lasted long enough to get one built.

By Thomas Mathews (Turtle) on Friday, October 19, 2018 - 07:08 am: Edit

I've rolled so poorly on my the first one is only 1/4 complete, and the second is just started.

The Alliance Theme Song for the Fall of Y172: If it weren't for bad luck, I'd have no luck at all.

The alliance continues to roll 1s. Forget to ratio of 1s to 6's It's 1s to anything else at about 3 to 1.

By Bill Steele (Bill83501) on Thursday, November 15, 2018 - 10:12 pm: Edit

It has been unbelievable. On the plus side, I have been mucking things up so bad, he is still winning!

By Thomas Mathews (Turtle) on Thursday, November 15, 2018 - 10:37 pm: Edit

Still a draw at this point in time. The Hydrans have been kicked off map. The Kzintis are outnumbered pretty bad at the moment just from the Klingons and Carnivons in theater. That does not include the 14 Lyrans in theater or the 23 Feds in theater.

The Romulans have a difficult turn ahead as they have way more to defend than they have ships to do it. The Paravians got their SB in 5405 back in supply for the moment. It will at least let them rebalance their fleets to make their defense options easier.

We shall we what happens as combat continues in the Kzinti theater.

By Thomas Mathews (Turtle) on Tuesday, November 27, 2018 - 06:48 am: Edit

In the Kzinti theater the Alliance has seen better rolls. However, both the Klingons and Carnivons are directing on escort frigates each round. The Kzintis saved the Count's star base in 1102, but are likely to lose the Duke's star base in 1304. They just don't have enough ships.

All combat in the east has concluded. The Alliance was able to hold onto all captured territory except for the planet in 4309. However the Romulans have made their task of defending their territory much harder having lost 3 ships, 1 Pol and crippled another 21 ships. The Gorns lost 6 ships plus a couple in a pursuit battle and have 13 ships crippled. The ISC lost 3 ships and have a total of 5 crippled. The Paravians lost 3 Ships and have a crippled carrier group of 3 ships. The Paravian and ISC casualties are light because only 1 or 2 rounds maximum were fought in the battle hexes. One of those being the approach battle in 5405 to the Paravian star base before the ISC left.
