Combat is over!
In Hydran space, the Hydrans retook planet 0416, parked most of their fleet there, and have a good connection to off map.
In Kzinti space, the Kzinti continued to fight a grinding attrition war, trading FFs for larger ships and cripples, and recaptured some space, but didn't change much.
On the Fed/Klingon Front, the Fed retook planets 2403, 2509, 2811, and a lot of provinces. Northern Fed space is mostly free of Klingon incursion at this point.
On the Fed/Romulan front, the Feds took back planets 3210 and 3306; the Romulans tenaciously held on at planet 3706 and are still setting up a MB over planet 3711.
In Gorn space, the Gorn roughed up a bunch of province raiders, took back a significant amount of space, but were repulsed from Romulan held planet 4705.
A lot of ships died this turn:
-LYR: 2CW, DWE, DD, 2FFE, FF, (1PF)
-KLI: D7, 2D5S, D5, F5W, 2F5E, 2F5, 6E4, (D5, F5)
-ROM: SP, SKF, SKE, K5, SEE, SEH, K4, SN
-ZIN: 2FKE, FFK, 12FF
-HYD: 3CU
-FED: 12FF, (3NCL, CL, SWAC)
-GRN: DDE, 2DD
That's 32 Coalition (and a PF flotilla) dead, 37 Alliance (and a SWAC). (Units in parenthesis do not produce salvage). Probably the new high water mark for ship death in a single turn--69 dead ships.
Retrogrades, etc. to follow. Including fully setting up the Tholians, who get to attack on AT22 (and it isn't impossible that they might get pre-emptively attacked on AT21...)
By Peter Bakija (Bakija) on Sunday, January 06, 2019 - 07:12 pm: Edit |
During AT21, the Alliance again rolled well; 3.75 (above) average over 36 recorded rolls, vs the Coalition's 3.1 (below) average. VBIR did kind of hose the Alliance more than the Coalition, however (i.e. it rolled down when the Alliance rolled bad as well).
The Alliance kind of came out for the worse, ship death wise, but the Coalition lost more expensive ships and more total value of ships, and the Feds took back a significant amount of space.
For the whole of T21, the Coalition put 60 new hulls on the map, and lost 47 hulls, for a net of +13 hulls on the map. The Alliance put 64 new hulls on the map, and lost 50 hulls, for a net of +14 hulls on the map (about a wash). This does not count fighters and PFs.

The turn is over!
In Hydran space, there is a big Hydran fleet on planet 0416, a large (but mostly FF) fleet in 0117 helping keep supply open, and two ok reserves off map.
In Kzinti space, the Kzinti have a lot of ships in 1401, a lot of ships at SB 1704, a few ships at planet 1802, and two modest reserves off map.
The Feds have a lot of ships in their Capital, a large fleet over planet 2704, Significant fleets on both SB 2808 and 3008, a battle line at BATS 3703, and 4 solid reserves; 2 in 2908, one at 2907, and one at 2905. The Feds have about 2 dozen cripples spread around the maps that need repairing (most are in the Capital).
The Gorn have most of their ships in Capital 4503, a battle line at BATS 4904, and a couple scary reserves in 4402.
The Tholians, who are suddenly relevant, are set up as normal, with all their copious new builds in the Capital, including a solid reserve (Pro Tip: Now that I have reread the web rules which I had spaced on last time, it is very unlikely I'll engage the Tholians this upcoming turn...)

Raids happened and moves have started--the Romulans successfully raided 2 northern Fed provinces (disrupting them), facing only POL resistance.
In Gorn space (as I'm starting in the East this time), the Romulans have attacked Gorn BATS 4904 (pinning a dozen ships there), devastated planets 4702, 5003, and BATS 5201 (way off in the corner). They sent a pinning force to pin the fleet on SB 4206, and have sent a fleet to Fed border BATS 3703 (pinning another dozen ships there).

CT22
Over in Hydran space, the Hydran fleet on 0416 has been pinned, and the fleet holding up supply has been attacked.
In Kzinti space, so far, the Coalition have pinned the fleet on SB 1704, and recaptured a bunch of space, but nothing real exciting has happened.
In Fed space, the Klingons are reconsolidating the NW corner of space, attacking a few undefended, devastated planets, and about 100 ships led by the B10 are moving towards Earth (although they might get pinned out of the hex).
On the Romulan end of things, the Gorn Fleet on SB 4206 is pinned, both remaining east side BATS are under attack, the Romulans are attacking a couple devastated, undefended planets, and the Romulans are hitting both NE corner surviving Fed BATS.
Moves continue.

CT22
Moves seem to be about done, and I'm waiting on reserves (unless something wacky happens).
In Hydran space, there is a big fight over planet 0416 between 100+ Hydrans and 100+ Coalition; there is a more modest fight in 0117 where the Hydrans have a lot of fighters and the Coalition have very few. It looks like the Coalition can cut the main Hydran fleet out of supply this turn, if they retreat from planet 0416, but if they fight hard and stay on planet 0416, they'll still end the turn unconnected from the main grid, so fighter replenishment could be an issue.
In Kzinti space, not much is happening. The Coalition reclaimed most of Kzinti space, leaving planets 1202 and 1502 untouched (avoiding the ships in the Capital), pinned the fleet on SB 1704, and attacked planet 1802.
On the Fed/Klingon front, the Klingons are attacking planet 2403 (lightly defended), planet 2509 (undefended), and are in a about 100 ship on a side pin fight in 2909 (where about 100 Klingons were pinned out of the Capital). I moved towards the Capital with a big fleet to see what would happen (it wasn't impossible Jason would just let them in), but then once I got pinned and it was clear he had enough ships to pin anything I could move towards Earth, we went elsewhere.
On the Fed/Romulan front, the Romulans are attacking planet 3306 (lightly defended), BATS 3601 (undefended and no reserves in range), BATS 3703 (defended with a roughly equivalent fleet).
In Gorn space, the Romulans are pinning the fleet at SB 4206, attacking 4904 (defended, but disadvantaged), undefended devastated planets 4701 (with 2 ships, could be foiled by a reserve), 5004 (with significant fleet), BATS 5201 (undefended and out of range of reserves).
The Coalition continue to move ships in the direction of Tholian space; there are yet to be enough ships in the area to remotely threaten the Tholian Homeworld, but likely enough to keep them from causing too much havoc.

Reserves have moved!
There are 15 combats happening.
2 in Hydran space. Both reserves went to 0117; the Hydrans can probably hold onto 0117; they can probably hold onto planet 0416 if they want to make a fight of it.
2 in Kzinti space. Over 1704, where both reserves went, the Lyrans will likely offer an approach and then run away. Over 1802, the Kzinti will lose an FF.
6 in Fed space; all 4 Fed reserves went to planet 3306, so they might keep that planet; the Klingons will take back planets 2403 and 2509; the Romulans will likely kill BATS 3601 and possible 3703. There is a titanic clash between two massive fleets right at the doorstep of Earth that will likely result in two dead FFs and someone retreating.
5 in Gorn space; the Romulans will take back planets 4702 and 5004, will kill BATS 5201, will possibly kill BATS 4904 (where both reserves went), and will have a single round of approach over SB 4206.

CT22
Combat is finishing up.
In Hydran space, the Hydrans fought one round of combat, trading a CU for a DWE and retreated from the planet, down 20 fighters (and will end the turn cut out of supply). The Hydran force by the Old Colonies totally out gunned and out fighters the Klingons who pinned them, mangled them in a single round of combat, and are currently killing a couple cripples in a rough (for the Klingons) pursuit.
In Kzinti space, the Coalition attacked planet 1802, killed an FF, and immediately retreated, as just like last turn, this was mostly an operation to get some cripples to a repair facility. There is currently a likely single round approach fight (if the Kzinti come out and fight even) over SB 1704.
In Fed space, the Klingons recaptured planet 2403, recaptured planet 2509, fought a round vs Fed reserves over planet 3306, but the Feds are fleeing with some cripples, the Romulans in pursuit, and the B10 led Klingon fleet is fighting Feds in 2909 in what is likely to be a single round fight. The Romulans also killed BATS 3501 and 3703 for limited casualties (well, ok, a KRM exploded over 3703).
In Gorn space, the Romulans recaptured planets 4702 and 5004, killed BATS 5201 with no opposition, killed BATS 4904 (losing an SPF) vs a Gorn battle line. They are currently fighting a likely single line approach over SB 4206 (if the Gorn decide to fight).
Dice have been nuts this round, with the Coalition having the advantage, but really, it hasn't mattered much; most fights were very one sided anyway, and the crazy dice didn't really make a difference. So far in 10 rounds of recorded combat, the Coalition have averaged 5.1 (they have rolled 50% 6's) and the Alliance are only a little behind at 4.2 (they are at only 30% 6's).

Combat is over!
Not much changed from above.
The Coalition finally started rolling badly near the end of the turn, and end result for dice average (over 14 recorded rolls) is Coalition 4.3 and Alliance 3.8. So not that terrible of a spread overall.

The turn is over!
In Hydran space, the main Hydran fleet is cut out of supply and down some fighters. It will be trivial for them to get back in supply, but most of the main fleet will be limited to 3 hexes of movement next turn. Which limits their targets (i.e. they can't really threaten SB 0411).
In Kzinti space, not much happened. The Coalition recaptured much if Kzinti space.
In Fed space, also not really much happened. A few devastated planets were recaptured, a couple BATS out of the way BATS were destroyed, and there was a lot of shifting of forces to deal with the emerging Tholian issue.
In Gorn space, a couple BATS were destroyed, a couple devastated planets were recaptured. The east edge of Gorn space (mostly the NZ hexes) have been cut off from the main Gorn grid.
A not insignificant number of ships moved to the Tholian border, including three reserve forces (one each on SBs in 2318, 2916, and 3518); most of the resources on that front are probably safe from destruction, but still, the Coalition seems unlikely to be capturing the Tholian Capital any time soon (i.e. never).
The Lyrans have solid reserves in 0411, 1407, and 2318. The Klingons have solid reserves in 1504, 2106, 2610, and 2916. The Romulans have reasonable reserves in 3518, 3711, and 4705. The Lyran reserves are unlikely to be pinned; the Klingon reserves (except the one by the Tholians) are likely to be pinned; one of the Romulan reserves is unpinnable, one could be pinned by Tholians, the one in Gorn space can be pinned easily.
The Tholians which can attack now can reach two SBs and a BATS with their 12 ship expeditionary fleet; the whole of their fleet can hit a major planet, 2BATS, and twin SBs in 2916 (with a significant fleet at it).

The Federation generate about 125EPs, and have about 137EPs to spend in total. They build CAV, NAC, NCS, 27FF, and convert a CVA into an SCS. They spend about 20EPs on repairs. End econ with less then 1EP in treasury.
The Kzinti generate about 47EP, and have about 58EPs to spend in total. They build CVH, MEC, 2CM, 3FFK, 5FF, spend 4EP on repairs, end econ with about 4EP in treasury.
The Hydrans generate about 27EPs and have about 32EP to spend in total. They build 2AH, 10CU, and get a free PGS, ending econ with less than an EP in treasury.
The Gorn generate 59EP, have about 60EP in savings, and have about 119EP to spend in total. They build DNH, CMV, HVH (paying for 8 fighters in full), CLE, LTT, HD, 4BD, DDE, ending econ with about 27 in treasury. They also have a partial grid over on the east edge of the map worth a little less than 4EPs, banked at the neutral zone planet.
The Tholians (?!?) generate their 22EPs, build CWE, 3PC, pay to fix 4 still crippled NCLs, save their 3FFF and 2.5EPs.

Haven't got to play with Tholians yet...
...I assume the crippled NCL's are the Neo-Thoilian re-enforcements and they all arrive crippled?
Fed economy seems to be under a lot of pressure....although the Kzinti seem to be doing fairly OK?
By Peter Bakija (Bakija) on Tuesday, January 15, 2019 - 12:30 pm: Edit |
The Neo Tholians show up at some point (retrograde phase AT19?) and are all crippled. The Tholians can repair 4 per turn for free if they are not currently in a conflict, which results in 8 of the 12 ships getting fixed before T22. So they have to pay to fix 4NCLs (presumably; there are 2NDN, 4NCA, 6NCL) on T22 (or later).
The Fed economy is certainly faltering. But I still haven't been able to get into their Capital ever, and am unlikely to ever get there (too many ships); I have been mostly pushed away from the North sector of Fed space, so I can't really cut them off from the off map. So I suspect they their economy has pretty much gotten as low as it is gonna get, and will probably start going up soon.
The Kzinti are restricted to, most of the time, their capital province, their off map, and the two provinces of the Marquis. As long as I wander in and flatten planets every 4 turns, their econ is about this forever.

Moves have started!
In Hydran space, the Hydrans have opened up supply to their main fleet instantly, but it is still restricted to 3 hexes of movement.
In Kzinti space, the Kzinti are pinning things and attacking province raiders.
In Fed space, the Fed are doing the same thing.
In Gorn space, the Gorn are doing much of the same, while also opening a strategic movement path to planet 5403, where about 4EPs are banked.
The Tholians haven't moved yet. Nothing real exciting has happened yet, but so far, we are at 17 battle hexes already.

Moves keep coming!
In Hydran space, the Hydrans put their main fleet on planet 0416, and attacked some province raiders in the NW corner of Hydran space. Most Hydrans have moved. The Coalition have fewer ships on 0416 than the Hydrans do, but still a lot of ships.
In Kzinti space, the Kzinti have now attacked planet 1504 and send a force into Fed space to attack Klingon held planet 2106.
Feds and Gorns haven't changed.
The Tholians have attacked the Romulans, sending ships to hit BATS 3319 and SB 3518 (likely just to pin the reserve there).
Moves continue!

AT22
Moves are done and reserves have gone in! Most Coalition reserves were pinned, and the ones that weren't are unlikely to change any outcomes of the battle hexes they went to. They only significant reserve move was a Klingon reserve went to fight with Romulan BATS 3319, under attack by most of the Tholian fleet, which was initially undefended. The Tholians can still kill that BATS if they want, but at least now the Klingons will do some damage in return.
In Hydran space, there are 3 fights; 2 are big Hydran mobs beating up province raiders; one is most of the Hydran fleet vs a big Coalition fight over planet 0416.
In Kzinti space, there are 6 fights; 3 are province raiders being mugged, 3 are roughly equal sized fleets fighting over captured planets--Kzinti advantaged in one, Lyrans advantaged in the other, one mostly a wash.
On the Fed/Klingon front, there are 7 fights; 3 are province raiders getting mugged; 4 are attacks on held planets, most are modestly or significantly advantaged for the Alliance (the Kzinti are hitting planet 2106).
On the Fed/Romulan front, there are 6 fights; 3 are beating up small Romulans which might wiggle away; 2 are at Romulan held planets where the Romulans are probably modestly advantaged in both; one is an open space pin fight between two significant fleets.
In Gorn space, there are 9 fights; 8 of them are beating up province raiders or minimal planet occupation forces; one of them is, like, 90 GRN vs 90 ROM over planet 4705.
In the new Tholian front, there are 2 fights; the 12 ship detached fleet attacking ROM SB 3518 (which the Tholians will offer an approach and immediately run from; the Romulan reserve isn't that scary either) and the other is the main Tholian fleet at BATS 3319, where a pretty good KLI reserve showed up to help defend the BATS. The BATS is doomed if the Tholians feel like sticking it out.
An impressive total of 33 battle hexes, although over half of them are "I give up an FF and run!" fights.
Battles to commence shortly.

Combat is well underway. There are a lot of fights going on all at the same time all over the board. So far, the Kzinti have recaptured planet 1001, the Hydrans are fighting numerous rounds over 0416, possibly intending to take it back, and the Alliance have killed a lot of small province raiders already (something like 11 dead Coalition and 3 dead Alliance so far).
I think the Alliance are going to come out of this turn looking very good.
So far, dice have been swingy (i.e. a lot of 6/1, 1/5 kinda rolls), but reasonably average overall, with the Alliance marginally ahead.

Combat rages on!
In Hydran space, combat is 3 rounds in over 0416. It is unclear who will blink first.
In Kzinti space, combat is happening over 1105 and 1504. 1105 is advantage: Lyrans; 1504 is advantage: Kzinti.
In Fed space, the Alliance have now taken back planets 2106, 2403, and 2610; it looks like the Romulans will keep ahold of planets 3509 and 3706.
On the Tholian front, in an inauspicious beginning to the Tholian campaign, they traded a PC for a crippled SK n the approach over SB 3518 before running away.
So far, ship death is up to 18 dead Coalition and 12 dead Alliance (although one of those is a Tholian, which doesn't really count for anything).
