We will look into a YouTube live.

By David J Baldwin (Chiefdave) on Monday, December 31, 2018 - 09:03 pm: Edit

Since my second time up, I will go with Ryan. Free you up, Mike, for what ever you want to play. I also like to document play for BBS, I learn a lot that way.

By Mike Curtis (Nashvillen) on Tuesday, January 01, 2019 - 03:29 pm: Edit

Looks like it might be two games but probably just one: DotEW/GW combo and maybe Early Beginnings if Tim can make it.

Please post here your preferences in the format of Name,Game,1st choice,2nd choice,3rd choice. For example: Bubba Smith,DotEW/GW,Federation,Klingon,Lyran

We need to know who is going to play what.

Please have this done by 8 JAN 19. Thank you.

So, which rules are we using/not using for DoTEW/GW?

By Mike Curtis (Nashvillen) on Sunday, January 06, 2019 - 09:41 pm: Edit

Looks like the DotEW/GW combined game is going to be as follows:

Federation => Ryan Opel
Klingon => Jason Schaff
Romulan => Nick Blank
Gorn => Dave Whiteside
Kzinti => John Robinson
Hydran => John Wong
Lyran => Dave Baldwin

Yours truly will be a back up and I should find plenty of other things to do in the room since it is full of other monster wargames! :O

I suggest full rules with the following exceptions:

Drone raids
Fighter/PF Raids
Variable ADMs
Resistance movements (537.1)

Rule modifications to use:
SIT designated light escort conversions are 0.5ep not 1 ep.

By Richard B. Eitzen (Rbeitzen) on Monday, January 07, 2019 - 12:16 am: Edit

Aren't variable ADMs optional? I assume y'all aren't using optional rules.

I think they fixed resistance movements so that things like E4Rs weren't quite so vulnerable to destruction (commenting in case that's related to the reason not to use them).

Bit surprised at the light escort conversion thing, had forgotten that had been floating around a couple or so years ago.

Just some comments that came to my mind; I hope y'all have fun and look forward to any reports of games played.

By Mike Curtis (Nashvillen) on Monday, January 07, 2019 - 12:34 pm: Edit

Variable ADMs are just specified as out, just because we don't want someone assuming they are being used.

Resistance Movements are just a bunch of dice rolls for very little gain in game play. They are a pain in the neck for both sides time wise.

The light escort is a standard house rule we use in all our games. With the removal of CEDS we found it was needed for anyone to have a lot of extra light escorts which die in droves.

We hope to do some either YouTube or Facebook live of the game so people can check in and see the blow by blow. I have a old iPhone 6+ that we can put on a small tripod and pretty much just let it run and move it around to see the game play.

I would assume no optional rules, like the ability of diplomats to move up or delay war entry which upsets balance too much.

By John Wong (Thefeds) on Wednesday, January 09, 2019 - 07:11 pm: Edit

I’m now 9.5.

Question regarding the combined rules: Are the Romulans _required_ to attack the Feds on turn 5? If not, at what point can the Feds go to full war and invade the Romulans?

By Ryan Opel (Ryan) on Saturday, January 26, 2019 - 03:16 pm: Edit

Jason,

I would say the Romulans are required to attack the Feds on T5.

We've seen what happens if the Feds get to save a TON of money before they are invaded.

By Nick Blank (Nickgb) on Sunday, February 10, 2019 - 08:50 am: Edit

Are we planning to post setups and 1st turn Coalition econ/construction prior to the start date, or just handle everything upon arrival?

What is our planned start time? Arrivals?

I am driving in each day, but am available starting the Friday 15th through Sunday the 24th.

Also,

Wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!

By Ryan Opel (Ryan) on Sunday, February 10, 2019 - 12:59 pm: Edit

Myself and the rest of the Virginians should be there about 1900 Friday. I think Mike is planning to arrive about then.
