How do you convert a CW to a DW?

Look at the Sequence of Play. (This is the Master Sequence of Play dated 3 July 2017 and is avialble online).

Phase 2B: Production

2B3: Produce units:
2B3A: Build and place new units at construction sites.

2B3D: Perform ship conversions.

On another note I don't have the sentance "Either can make a double conversion within it's limits and use downsized substitutions (450.4)." in my copy of the rules. I am checking other sources.

Richard and Ryan

My copy of the Planetary Operations has Copyright 2004 on the bottom of each page and Planetary Operations Rulebook 3204 in a square box on the bottom of the back copy.

Happy to send a picture of my text if it helps :)

(Probably not relevant, but although 15 years old the print quality of the front and back pages wasn't too good - so was 2 or more versions printed?).

I dunno what date my source is from, but it's more recent.

By Ryan Opel (Ryan) on Monday, April 01, 2019 - 06:19 pm: Edit

There was definately more than one printed version. Chuck is going to post a ruling soon.

By Richard B. Eitzen (Rbeitzen) on Monday, April 01, 2019 - 06:30 pm: Edit

A ruling was posted about this, I imagine that the current rules don't have the non-sensical comment about downsubs so a ruling won't be required.

By Karl Mangold (Karlsolomon) on Monday, April 01, 2019 - 09:04 pm: Edit

Mine also says copyright 2004, although I just bought it last year and so assumed it was the most up to date. I suppose that is not necessarily the case.
I find it amusing that there are 5 pages of archived comments already and this game hasn't even started yet.

I find it sad rather than amusing. Y'all could be on turn three or something by now.

I have been trying, lately but paul still hasn't gotten around to telling me what rules he will play with from the list I want to play and what rules he doesn't want to play with. we also haven't agreed balance options either.

By Richard B. Eitzen (Rbeitzen) on Tuesday, April 02, 2019 - 12:35 am: Edit

To speed things, what I usually do is just let my opponent do as he likes with such things. For me, the point is to play the game, and if I have a disadvantage or advantage it doesn't matter.

By Paul Howard (Raven) on Tuesday, April 02, 2019 - 02:32 am: Edit

To be fair - it would make sense if we both play with the same set of rules (and we already know Jim's FO Rulebook is different to my Rulebook)!

I have posted a question in Q&A - as I am guessing I have version 1 of PO and Richard and Ryan have a reprinted and amended version 2 (and Jim might have a more recent updated version!)

Jim - I was waiting on you to confirm which rule option and option points you preferred :)

By jim howard (Noseybonk) on Tuesday, April 02, 2019 - 03:42 am: Edit

was there any objection to the ruleset I posted some time ago beyond the clarification of minor shipyards.i'll go through the options tonight and post a revisd list including fed ships and kestrels alliance will get more points.

By Paul Howard (Raven) on Tuesday, April 02, 2019 - 04:27 am: Edit

Hopefully those nice people in the White Suites who give you self hugging clothing will no longer be coming for me!

As suspected, Chuck has confirmed there was two printed PO versions in 2004, one with the additional substitution sentence, one without - and the without one is correct.

I don't know if there was any other changes, so I'll see how many penny's I have got (going to be an expensive 7 years for me, we decided my eldest son would do best in a private school for Secondary education and we want to move home!), as it might be an idea to buy the new PO and FO to ensure Jim is not playing with Applies and I am playing with Oranges.

By Ryan Opel (Ryan) on Tuesday, April 02, 2019 - 01:33 pm: Edit

Jim,

450.4 is not a comprehensive list, neither are the online OOBs.

By jim howard (Noseybonk) on Tuesday, April 02, 2019 - 02:44 pm: Edit

'the following list is comprehensive, but does not include substitutions already allowed in the rules'

quoted from PO page 14 450.4

By jim howard (Noseybonk) on Tuesday, April 02, 2019 - 02:47 pm: Edit

Ryan, Chuck wrote that.

By Paul Howard (Raven) on Tuesday, April 02, 2019 - 04:32 pm: Edit

Probably brain dead...

88 difference alliance get 2 Kzinti SB,2 Gorn BATS,2 Hydran BATS and 1 SB.
coalition get 6Lyran BATS 2 Klingon SB 2 Romulan
BATS

That's 50 Alliance points and 60 Coalition points?

I don't think either side needs large number of bases..... and for the Kzinti and Hydrans - pretty tough to defend more bases!

I think we also need to keep within limits - single mothballs and extra ships.

Lastly, what did you think of the ideas behind the rules and option points.

Could you also confirm what the extra/new Aux ships in FO are?

By jim howard (Noseybonk) on Tuesday, April 02, 2019 - 06:00 pm: Edit

well romulans get a gazillion of them and everyone else gets one..... sorry couldn't resist :P

those mothballs are tiny I do not mind making them reasonable.
