Coalition Turn 3 has started

Lyrans spend 41.5 Eps on Repairs, normal builds (DN conversion) and is left with 13 Ep's.

The MB in 1407 is also being converted to a BATS(6).

Klingons spend 21 Ep's on Repairs, normal builds (including 2 D6M, D6D and 2 x FV's) and is left with 0.1 Ep's.

Lyrans find an off map province, Klingons are up to 11 and the Gold Plated Paperweight is up to 4 (1st roll).

B10 (4 of 40)?

By William Jockusch (Verybadcat2) on Friday, April 12, 2019 - 06:11 pm: Edit

Lyrans still need more repair expenses. As they are building an FRD, they apparently agree with this . . .

Thomas

I don't know what Ultra top Secret Klingon document you are reading - but what is this 'B10'?

Clearly every emperor needs a Gold Plated Paperweight and HIS Gold Plated Paperweight will be bigger and better than every other Emperor/Empire Leaders Paperweight.

ONLY ONE ? ;)

By William Jockusch (Verybadcat2) on Saturday, April 13, 2019 - 05:51 am: Edit

The Kzinti hereby present the Klingons with the plans for the B15. Builds the same as a B10, but has 30 compot, completes at 60 points, and cannot be used incomplete.

lol Paul and William. Thanks for making me laugh this morning.

By William Jockusch (Verybadcat2) on Saturday, April 13, 2019 - 04:33 pm: Edit

C3 op move is underway. So far, it appears to be a dogpile on Kzintai, with a few ships diverted to 1502.

By William Jockusch (Verybadcat2) on Monday, April 15, 2019 - 08:47 am: Edit

C3 op move is done. The Coalition are making a big attack at Kzintai, a smaller attack at the Duke's SB, and an even smaller one at the major planet Klindai (1502).

I've gotta hand it to Paul, because of the nine ways my two reserves might theoretically go to the three battles, four seem reasonable. I'm leaning towards sending the big reserve to Kzintai, which still leaves a reasonable choice to send the small one to either of the other two battles.

By Paul Howard (Raven) on Monday, April 15, 2019 - 11:06 am: Edit

Record?

No reactions for an Empire in a turn!

Alas for me, the Kzinti didn't react to a single move (perhaps mooning from the side window of a crippled CW was too much for the frail Kzinti forces in 902?) and so I wasn't able to pull the Kzinti away from their bases.

….and to confuse William even more....we do have four battles.

Dog pile on 1401
Modest pile on 1304
Small pile on 1502
FF on 1202 (v RDU)

By William Jockusch (Verybadcat2) on Monday, April 15, 2019 - 06:14 pm: Edit

I decided to reserve Kzintai (big reserve) and the Duke's SB (small reserve). Kzintai will hold, but a lot of planets will be devastated, probably all but Kzintai itself. 1502 will fall. I refuse to make any prediction regarding the Duke.

The non-reaction and its effect on the speed of play inspired me to make a proposal over at the proposals forum.

…...I wonder if there is a design flaw in D6M maulers?

First Coalition ship killed is a D6M and it is captured!

something about having a main weapon with less range than a transporter

By William Jockusch (Verybadcat2) on Sunday, April 21, 2019 - 08:45 am: Edit

The Klingons additionally appear to be having problems with their weapons systems in large battles, as in "can't hit the broadside of a barn in daylight," at least not yet.

By Thomas Mathews (Turtle) on Sunday, April 21, 2019 - 08:48 am: Edit

They roll 1's in large battles? They need to speak to the Hydrans from the Empires of the Dead game about that.

By Paul Howard (Raven) on Sunday, April 21, 2019 - 05:42 pm: Edit

Well the dice gods are not too nice over 1401

Current averages are 2.2 v 3.2...

Biggest Compot has been 150 (and I rolled a 1!) and Kzinti compot 90 to 134.

So far losses are

C8, TGC+BP, D6M, F5S (self killed to reduce chance of the C8 being captured!) plus a couple of cripples.

Kzinti have lost 6 PDU's, EFF and a couple of cripples.

By Paul Howard (Raven) on Monday, April 22, 2019 - 02:09 pm: Edit

Well I won a round over 1401 (and 6 v 1 at that) but lost the next two rounds!

Only VBIR is above average at 3.75, Coalition average has gone up to 2.5 and the Alliance has dropped slightly to 3.125!

Lots of CR 10 hulls are being direct killed by the Kzinti (they last 2 rounds have just got over 36 damage!).

Averages for the turn are so far 3.81, 2.54 and 3.72 respectively.

By Paul Howard (Raven) on Wednesday, April 24, 2019 - 09:21 am: Edit

Being fair...I commented when the dice have been poor, but the dice have been fairer for the last 3 battles.

First capital assault dice was 4/3/3 - so honours even.

Next round (over a part devastated planet) was 6/6/1 - BIR was only 4 in total so we missed the first Autokill requirement of the game.

Second capital assault dice was 6/5/1 - so just missed the auto kill again.... but I have a choice of killing 4 PDU's - or a crippled CV+MEC group (I had already killed the EFF and William self crippled the group) cowering in the rear echelons.

So dice so far are 4.2/3/3.33 - but I am doing better now in the big battles.

By Paul Howard (Raven) on Wednesday, April 24, 2019 - 09:56 am: Edit

In case the peanut gallery is holding it's breath...

I went for the 4 PDU's.

Would have loved to kill the CVS (and cost would have been only 9 damage with the Mauler), but dropping the capital to 8 PDU's (and it may drop further this turn) gives me better options next turn.

By William Jockusch (Verybadcat2) on Wednesday, April 24, 2019 - 04:23 pm: Edit

In addition to losing 8 PDU on Kzintai, losing 1502, and getting four more planets devastated, the Kzinti fleet is pretty beat up.

On the plus side, they still hold Kzintai, which they did not at this point last game. They can even repair most of their crips. Likely they will still have 5 or so after the repair phase.

They won't be building much however. Rebuilding PDUs is out of the question.

By chris upson (Misanthropope) on Wednesday, April 24, 2019 - 06:09 pm: Edit

see, if you'd gone for the primary objective *last* turn you could have scored yourself a nice little bonus this turn. although im pretty surprised to read that you can maul ships not in the battle line.

By Paul Howard (Raven) on Thursday, April 25, 2019 - 02:41 am: Edit

Chris

I should have done 1 attack over the capital on turn 2 - but I didn't and it did mean that I could still contain the Kzinti their counterattack.... but your right!

Cripples - yes. they have to be placed at the planet with the most PDU's and they can't be protected (other than partially retreating them prior to that round!! :) )

By William Jockusch (Verybadcat2) on Thursday, April 25, 2019 - 03:58 am: Edit

It would have retreated had the PDU count been lower.

By Paul Howard (Raven) on Thursday, April 25, 2019 - 05:49 am: Edit

In other words - William tried to tempt me into killing the 2CVS group :)

By William Jockusch (Verybadcat2) on Thursday, April 25, 2019 - 08:31 am: Edit

More like I thought you were going to direct on fighters again and figured I might as well have a couple of spares.
