Lots of X-ships built (26 new X-ships, but some are conversions); the Klingons and Romulans downshifted numerous (non X) hulls into FFs (although after finishing econ, it turned out the Lyrans could have paid to repair a bunch of Klingons, allowing the Klingons to avoid some downshifts, but really, the extra E4s are needed anyway). The Klingons ran out of money as they are upgrading a BATS to a SB in 1214 (as it is the only thing keeping the captured Hydran capital connected to the Klingon main grid...)

What is all the stuff down in the south-center of Romulan space?
By Peter Bakija (Bakija) on Sunday, September 01, 2019 - 03:23 pm: Edit |
-The Coalition have a KLI SBX+PF, LYR SB+PF, 6PDU+PFs as fixed defenses on Hydrax. There is an always fluctuating fleet of ships there, but usually it is pretty significant, and there are a lot of Aux units (AUX CV/PFT/SCS) sitting there as well.
-The random counters in the south of Romulan space are clearly just the pile of unused fleet counters :-)

Moves are well underway!
In Hydran space, the Coalition are hitting planets 0519 and 0718 with significant force. The Coalition have the advantage in both hexes, more so in 0718. The Hydrans have about 8 total ships off map as reserves, two of which are X-ships that can make it to 0718, but it is unlikely that the reserves will make a significant difference in the fights.
In Kzinti space, the Coalition have hit planets 1001, 1105, and 1802. 1001 is pretty even, with a modest edge for the Lyrans; 1105 is a significant edge for the Lyrans (mostly due to scads of X-ships in the hex), 1802 is a slam dunk for the Klingons. The Kzinti have 15 ships off map as 2 reserves; they'll probably help the Kzinti hold 1001 if they go there.
In Fed space so far, the Klingons are attacking a forward group fo Feds in 2112 with a bigger force; have a giant pile of ships landing on planet 2106 (protected by half as many Feds); the Lyrans have a big fleet on planet 2610 defended by a handful of ships, the Romulans have a significant force on hitting planet 3306 (defended by 4 ships currently), the the Klingons are hitting a significant pile of Feds at planet 3415 with a larger, but not huge fleet. The Feds at planet 3415 will likely end the turn out of supply.
In Gorn space, nothing has happened yet but a bunch of small ships moving around to capture provinces.
The Coalition seem to be trying to economize their province capture, generally only leaving ships to hold provinces where three of them meet, and are generally trying to slow the wholesale slaughter of small ships of the last few turns. On the downside, this means that the Fed Economy is going to get even bigger at this point.
A few large fleets left to move.

Moves are done, reserves have moved, and combat is underway!
In Hydran space, 2 fights--about 50 Klingons vs about 30 Hydrans at planet 0718, and about 60 Coalition vs about 40 Hydrans (including both reserves) at planet 0519. It is likely that the Coalition will win both fights.
In Kzinti space, 3 fights--about 50 Lyrans vs about 60 Kzinti (includng both reserves) at planet 1001; about 75 Lyrans vs about 60 Kzinti at planet 1105; a horde of Klingons vs a single battle line at planet 1802. The Kzinti will probably hold 1001, certainly lose 1802, probably lose 1105.
In Fed space, 5 fights--a big horde of Klingons vs about half as many Feds at planet 2106 (probably about 90 ships vs about 50); a strong Klingon line vs a weak Fed line in open space 2112; a horde of Lyrans vs a handful of ships at planet 2610; a giant mob of reserves vs a likely smaller Romulan force at planet 3509; well over 150 Klingons vs about 40 Feds at planet 3514 (the B10 led 100 ship force that used to hold Orion attacked here and will retrograde rather than just move somewhere).
There is no combat in Gorn space.
So only 10 battle hexes, and most of them are Coalition advantaged. The Coalition clearly are just doing what they can to maintain the status quo, and not lose too much ground in the next few turns. It is currently basically a stalemate in Gorn space, and there wasn't really anything to be gained by fighting this turn.

A few more fights resolved--the Hydrans scared the Lyrans away from planet 0519 (and we discovered than the RNX only has a command rating of 9?!?!), both sides losing an X-ship in the exchange; the Kzinti successfully defended planet 1001 from the Lyrans, where again, both sides lost an X-ship in the exchange and the Lyrans felt after one round--Kzinti compot was nuts with X-ships, PFs, and a round of full, fast drone bombardment, putting them up to, like, 128 compot. Over at planet 3306, the Romulans attacked an under defended planet, 4 reserves showed up, found a Fed battle line of, like, 137 compot, fought a round, and ran away. The only reason both sides didn't lose an X-ship was 'cause the Romulans didn't have any; they lost an SPC from scout bonus instead, killing a brand new Fed FFX in return.
So three aborted Coalition attacks on planets.
3 or 4 more combat hexes to go.
By Jason E. Schaff (Jschaff297061) on Friday, September 06, 2019 - 03:09 pm: Edit |
The Hydrans are similar to the Kzinti in that each has both an X-CA (BCX or DGX/RNX) _and_ an X-CC (CCX or LBX). I don't think anyone else has that kind of split.

A Romulan K7X exists in SFB, prolly not CR 10.
By Alan Trevor (Thyrm) on Friday, September 06, 2019 - 03:36 pm: Edit |
Prior to SFB Module X1R the only Romulan X-ship with CR10 was KEX. In X1R they got the NovaHawk-X, which is also CR10. NHX has same weapons and shields as FHX but better CR and also more power, especially reserve power (8 batteries = 24 points of reserve power). Neo-Tholian NCX is only CR9, though CCX and CPX (and CAX and PAX from X1R) are all CR10. In X1R, Feds and Klingons also got CR9 X-cruisers based on their NCA and D5W respctively. Gorn CCX is CR10 but their CMX is only CR9, even though it is slightly better than the CCX in a duel. I'm fairly sure that the Lyrans and ISC also have CR9 X-tech heavy cruisers after X1R It's not that uncommon anymore.
All of the above are SFB command ratings. I'm not sure about F&E.
By Gregory S Flusche (Vandor) on Friday, September 06, 2019 - 06:02 pm: Edit |
I thought SFB took the command ratings form F&E
By Thomas Mathews (Turtle) on Friday, September 06, 2019 - 07:08 pm: Edit |
SFB initially took the command ratings from F&E. New ships usually have their command rating based on the standard hull of a given class.

Combat is over!
In Hydran space, the Coalition took back planet 0718, but were repulsed from planet 0519 (mostly due to questionable planning, and forgetting to have an Admiral to send to the planet; the Lyran Admiral in the area is very intent on protecting SB 0411). There are now no Hydran ships within 6 hexes (and no fast or X-ships within 7) of the Klingon SB upgrade in 1214, but there are still about 30 ships within 6 hexes of the Lyran SB in 1216. Which now needs defending.
In Kzinti space, the Lyrans took back planet 1105, the Klingons took back planet 1802, and the Lyrans were repulsed from planet 1001.
In Fed space, the Klingons recaptured planets 2106 and 3415; the Romulans were chased away from planet 3306. The Fed force of about 40 ships (although no fighters currently) from 3415 is within 3 hexes of Romulan SB 3518 (which now also needs defending). The Feds are trapped out of supply currently, but it will be trivial to get them back in supply for combat.
Nothing happened in Gorn space, other than some rearranging of ships and capturing of provinces.
Ships Killed:
-LYR: CCX, TGP+SP
-KLI: DX, D5DX, FX, 2D5, F5L, F5, E4
-ROM: SPC
-ZIN: BCX, CMX, DD, (FF)
-HYD: LNX, (NEC, CU)
-FED: 2CX, FFX, CA, 2FF, (FF)
-GRN:
Only 11 dead Coalition, 14 dead Alliance; 4 to 6 dead x-ships.
As noted, dice were preposterous. I rolled five 6's out of 11 combat rolls with an average of 4.7; Jason had an average of 3.9, so till fine and above average. But still. On the upside, most of the combats were forgone conclusions, and me rolling high just meant that the Alliance lost more fighters and occasionally PFs (although in the fight in 3415, me rolling a 6 meant that the Feds had to self kill an out of supply FF to avoid me pursuing). And even with the lopsided rolls, Jason killed a D5DX, TGP+SP, and SPC, all in scout formation bonus.

CT31
The turn is over!
On the Hydran front, the Coalition have a lot of ships in 0617, the Lyrans have a solid fleet at SB 0411, both the Lyrans and Klingons moved ships to protect LYR SB 1216 and KLI BATS>SB upgrade 1214 (although nothing can reach the BATS upgrade). There is a reasonable Klingon reserve at 1214 and a mostly X-ship reserve at SB 1216.
On the Kzinti front, the Lyrans pulled a lot of ships back to SB 0404, are holding planet 1105 with a token force, and have a big fleet at SB 1407. The Klingons have a solid line at planet 1504 and a pretty big fleet at planet 1506. There is a good LYR reserve at SB 0608 and a good KLI reserve at planet 1506.
On the FED/KLI front, there is a giant fleet on planet 1910, a giant fleet on the SB's in 2916, and the Klingons sent a solid fleet to protect ROM SB 3518 (which is in range of out of supply FEDs in 3316, which will be in supply once as soon as some Feds move). They also pulled more ships back inside KLI space, protecting SB 2318, and some interior planets, as there is a group of a dozen FEDs in 2212 that have the potential to cause trouble. The Lyrans are holding planet 2610 with a solid line, and have a significant fleet on planet 2715. There are good KLI reserves at 1910 and 2916.
On the FED/ROM front, the Romulans have a solid fleet on planet 3706, and pulled most of their other ships back to SB 3711. There are solid ROM reserves at 3711 and 4010.
On the Gorn front, the Romulans still hold planet 4705, but pulled more ships back to planet 4309 (and moved the FRDs back to SB 4411). There is another good ROM reserve at 4309.
The Coalition have pulled ships back to border areas or to defend interior and captured area SBs. The Klingons have minimized their province raiding on the grounds of slowing the loss of small ships every turn, but as a result, the Fed economy is starting to boom back.

The Federation have a total of about 100 EP and 100 XTP to spend this turn (their economy is going bonkers as we get pushed back). They build 3CX, 3DDX, 3FFX, NVH, NHV, 16FF, MB, convert 2CC>CX. They spend 7.5 EP on repairs. They end with about 13 EP and 3 XTP leftover at the end of econ. Word on the street (i.e. we were talking about how to do this successfully) is that the Feds intend on replacing SB 2901 (which the Klingons killed a while back).
The Kzinti have about 31 EP and about 37 XTP to spend in total. They build CCX, 2CMX, HDWE, FKE, 5FF. They spend 7 EP on repairs. They end with about 2 EP and 5 XTP in treasury at the end of econ.
The Gorn have about 44 EP and 40 XTP to spend in total. They build CCX, 2HDX, HDP, HDWE, 3BD, DDE, 2DD. They convert HD>HDP. The generate 3 free PFs. They end econ with less than 1EP and about 4 XTP.
Jason forgot to send the Hydran economy sheet over. Hydran economy is small and terrible, but not so small and terrible that they didn't build ships, I'll post an update when it shows up :-)

The Hydrans had about 9 EPs and about 34 XTP to spend this turn. They build LBX, DGX, KNX, 3CU; spend a buck to repair a CU. They end econ with fractional EPs and XTPs.
During the Raid phase, the Alliance successfully raided 9 Coalition provinces, which Jason humorously pointed out cost me 3.6 EP and 0.9 XTP. The path to victory is arduous!

AT31
Moves are underway. In Hydran space, not much has happened--a fleet is taking back planet 0718, and a line is hitting some province raiders in the NW edge of Hydran space. Lots of ships left to move.
In Kzinti space, the Kzinti are hitting planets 1504, 1506, 1802, and some province raiders in 1604. They'll likely take back planets 1504 and 1802, don't have enough to take 1506 yet.
The Feds are rounding up numerous (although far fewer than in previous turns) province raiders and hitting planet 3706 with some Gorn allies; they'll probably take back 3706 (they have more ships, and a gaggle of X-ships). The Feds are also setting up a MB in hex 2902.
The Gorn are rounding up numerous province raiders, and sent a big fleet to planet 4309, but got pinned out in 4308.
Lots more to move.
By Peter Bakija (Bakija) on Saturday, September 14, 2019 - 10:50 am: Edit |
AT31
This just in! The Feds have sent a fleet to attack Romulan BATS 4110, which is currently undefended. They have another fleet that can hit BATS 4010 should they be so inclined; there is a reserve at that BATS. There are Romulan reserves in 3711, 4010, and 4309. Likely two of them will be able to move. The Feds can probably kill both BATS if they want, but they'll have some fighting to do.
The Hydrans now have a significant fleet at planet 0718 (about 40 ships); the Coalition reacted a battle line onto the planet, but clearly have no plans to try and keep it. There are two Coalition reserves available that can reach that planet, but even if they go there, they are unlikely to change the outcome.
The Kzinti seem to be mostly done moving; they did not enter Coalition space (well, they are attacking planet 1506 in the NZ). They have piled over 100 ships on to planet 1105, which is currently being held down by 4 small Lyrans. I suspect they are setting up for next turn.
The Gorn also seem mostly done moving. They were pinned away from planet 4309, and have piled on planet 4705 where the Romulans have about 45 ships and the Gorn have twice as many; it is unlikely the Romulans will keep that planet this turn.
Lots of Feds left to move.
By Peter Bakija (Bakija) on Sunday, September 15, 2019 - 08:43 am: Edit |
AT31
Feds seem mostly moved at this point--they have attacked both NW corner Romulan BATS (4010, 4110); 4010 has a reserve already sitting on it, the Romulans have two other reserves in range, but lots of things to send reserves too. Even if all the reserves show up, the Feds can probably get the BATS with some fortitude. They have also sent a big fleet to Lyran held planet 2715; the Klingons reacted a bunch of ships there off of 2916, which may or may not result in them holding the planet. The Feds are also attacking planets 2214 and 3415, which they will certainly recapture.
In Hydran space, the Hydrans sent about 150 SEQ from planet 0416 over to planet 0718. The Coalition were not capable of pinning those ships away, but sent most of the ships in 0617 to 0718 when the Hydrans got there. The Hydrans still significantly out weigh the Coalition in 0718, but there might be a big fight there.
Maybe a few ships left to move.
By Peter Bakija (Bakija) on Wednesday, September 18, 2019 - 07:11 pm: Edit |
AT31
Moves are finished and reserves have come in.
In Hydran space, 2 fights--a reserve and some provine raiders against a modest fleet in 0214 (probably advantage Hydrans, but both sides will lose a ship); a big fight in 0718 vs a big Hydran fleet, a smaller Klingon fleet, both reserves that could reach.
In Kzinti space, 6 fights; a giant mob vs 4 ships in 1105; a reserve and some province raiders vs 4 Kzinti in 0803; a reasonable even fight between a Kzinti fleet and a smaller Klingon fight plus a reserve in 1504; a Kzinti fleet vs more Klingons and then a reserve in 1506; the Kzinti likely just killing a small ship in 1603; and a battle line vs a couple ships at 1802.
On the Fed/Klingon front, 7 fights; 5 of them the Feds will likely just kill a ship; a big Fed fleet vs a Big Lyran fleet (advantage Fed) in 2610; a big Fed fleet vs possibly more Coalition at planet 2715.
On the Fed/Rom front, 8 fights. 5 of them are the Feds killing a small ship (or watching them cloaked evade); one is a fleet vs a fleet at planet 3706 (advantage Fed). The Feds are attacking both BATS 4010 (vs 2 reserves) and 4110 (vs 1 reserve). The Feds can certainly kill both BATS if they push, but it might take some work vs 4010.
In Gorn space 6 fights. One is a clear, one round pinning action between two big fleets; one is a bigger Gorn force likely pushing the Romulans off planet 4705; the rest are cloaked evasion rolls.
29 fights this turn, some potentially are protracted and bloody.

Battles are underway. In Hydran space, the Lyrans held on to hex 0214, trading some fighters and PFs for an SC; over planet 0718, the Coalition have a lot of X-ships and a high compot; the Hydrans have lots and lots of fighters and PFs (and CUs) to burn. It remains to be seen who will hold the hex; the Hydrans can probably take the planet back if they are persistent and grind away the Coalition X-ships.
In Kzinti space, a reserve saved some province raiders in 0803 (as there wasn't anything else important the reserve could reach); the Kzinti took back planet 1802; they are currently fighting over planet 1506, but probably only for 1 round.
On the Fed/Klingon front, the Feds took back planets 2106 and 2610 and have killed a few province raiding E4s.
Lots more carnage to come!
