The Feds have a robust production turn and have about 146 EP and about 101 XTP to spend (including production and treasury). They build 2CX, 4DDX, 4FFX, SCS, HDWE, NSC, DW, 2FFE, 14FF, SWAC; convert DW>HDWE, NCL>NSC, MB>BATS (up in 2902). They repair a FF. They end econ with about 15 EP and about 10 XTP saved.
The Kzinti have about 35 EP and 36 XTP to spend. They build CCX, CMX, FKX, 9FF, use 6FFF to produce 24PFs (4 flotillas). They spend 6.5 EP on repairs. They end econ with about 6 EP and 7 XTP saved.
The Hydrans have about 12 EP and 24 XTP to spend. They build RNX, LNX, 4CU, get a free PFT. They fix a couple CUs. They end econ with lass than 1 EP and about 5 XTP saved.
The Gorn have about 45 EP and 32 XTP to spend. They build CCX, HDX, CMV, 2HD, 3BD, DDE, 2DD. They end econ with about 3 EP and about 7 XTP saved.

Raids have happened, and moves have started!
During the raid phase, the Alliance successfully raided 8 Coalition provinces, and killed half a flotilla of PFs from BATS 1813 (which might get attacked this turn)--a DNL raided an adjacent hex, and the PF flotilla reacted in to resist the raid, resulting in half a dead flotilla and the DNL being chased off.
In operational movement, so far the Hydrans have attacked some province raiders, sent about 100 ships (plus another 30 some odd SEQ of attrition units) to hit Lyran SB 0411; the Lyrans have 50+ SEQ on that SB, and another reserve in range. It is unclear if the Hydrans plan on trying to kill it, or are just pinning and distracting.
The Kzinti have started rounding up province raiders, and have attacked planet 1001. The Fed have attacked planet 2106 (held by a few ships, and the Gorn are rounding up province raiders.
Plenty of moves to come.

The challenge is resisting the urge to go too hard too early, and waiting too long before starting my hard push to Coalition space.
There are a LOT of targets I can hit, but Im not sure if I want to hit them right now. Or if I wait another turn, or even until the final turn.

AT32
Moves keep coming! The Alliance is attacking a lot of Coalition targets, most of which are minimally defended (although a lot of reserves can go places).
In Lyran space, the Hydrans have a big pile of ships on SB 0411--the Hydrans can arguably blow up the SB if they are inclined; the Lyrans can send a couple reserves there and make it less attractive. The Kzinti are currently hitting planet 0607 and BATS 0708, neither of which are defended (there is a big fleet in SB 0608, but they couldn't afford to react off, as there were still plenty of Kzinti in range when they had the opportunity to react).
In Klingon space, there are currently small Kzinti forces hitting BATS 1009 and crippled BATS 1209; significant fleets hitting planets 1010 and 1210; the Feds have a significant force hitting BATS 2014. There are 2 Lyran reserves that can help in various fights and a couple Klingon reserves on the Fed edge of space.
On the Romulan front, both BATS 4010 and 4110 are under attack by Fed forces; 4010 is defended, 4110 is not currently. The Gorn are hitting numerous groups of province raiders in Gorn space, and there is a big ple of Gorn hitting the Romulans at planet 4309.
Coalition held planets 1001, 1504, 1506, 2106, 2214, 2715, 2812, and 3415 are all under credible assault as well.
The Kzinti, Gorn, and Hydrans seem mostly done moving. The Feds still have a lot of ships to put places.

….and to take some comments from the 'when to end the game' discussions - it would be blinking annoying for the Alliance if the game ended now.
Both from the point of view of winning - but probably more so the enjoyment value.
Occasionally being the underdog can be fun - but being able to dictate the events of a turn (rather than being reactive) is probably more fun for most gamers.
By Peter Bakija (Bakija) on Thursday, November 07, 2019 - 08:47 am: Edit |
Yep. The Alliance now have 3 turns (including this one) to turn things around. This turn, they will likely kill a handful of BATS, possibly a SB, and capture a couple minor planets, all while clearing Coalition forces out of their space.
Like, the Coalition have a big leg up currently (mostly due to holding the Hydran capital, which is mostly invulnerable), but over the next 3 turns, they are probably going to get a lot of VP balance back. And the game randomly ending right now would be terrible, from both a balance standpoint, and a "the Alliance finally get to have fun!" standpoint.

AT32
Moves are done, reserves have shown up!
On the Hydran front, 4 fights--a giant mob of Hydrans over SB 0411 (advantage Hydran); a battle line each vs province raiders in hexes 0215 and 0714 that the Hydrans certainly win; a mob of Hydrans vs a bigger mob of Coalition at planet 0519. At the SB, I'm pretty certain the Hydrans can kill the SB with 8 rounds of SIDS if they are inclined and are willing to suck up the damage. Planet 0519 is mostly a fight of "Here is a bunch of Hydrans that can't really hit anything else, so they might as well go fight for a while", but it is unlikely they'll take the planet back. The Lyrans could have sent a strong reserve to help out at the SB, but it went to go save a planet instead, as I'm not convinced that the Hydrans mean to take the SB this turn.
On the Kzinti front, there are 11 fights--planet 0607 and BATS 0708 under attack in Lyran space, both of which are defended by reserves, such that the Lyrans probably save these hexes this turn; Klingon planets 1010 and 1210 which will certainly be captured by the Kzinti; Klingon BATS 1009 and 1209, where 1209 is already crippled so will die, but 1009 might survive against the 4 ships there if they mean to fight it; 3 hexes where they are beating up province raiders; planet 1504 which they'll probably take back and planet 1506 which they probably won't.
On the Fed/Klingon front, 7 fights--3 hexes where province raiders or minimal planet garrisons are being mugged; BATS 2014 which is defended by 2 reserves, but still could fall if the Feds are persistent; planets 2214 and 2715, both held by Lyrans, both will probably be liberated by the Feds; planet 2812 which is a roughly even fight now that a Klingon reserve showed up, but the Feds probably have an edge.
On the Fed/Rom front, 7 fights--5 of them are beating up cloaked raiders who will try and evade; BATS 4010 and 4110 are both under attack; 4010 is well defended but still can certainly die; 4110 is undefended so will die.
On the Gorn front, 5 fights--4 of them are beating up cloaked evaders. Over planet 4309, the bulk of the Gorn navy is fighting a marginally smaller Romulan force. It could be a serious fight if the Gorn mean to take the planet.
34 battle hexes, a few that could be protracted and bloody!

By Peter Bakija (Bakija) on Saturday, November 09, 2019 - 12:45 pm: Edit |
AT32
Combat is underway. So far the Alliance have killed a pile of province raiders--7 small ships dead already, even though the Romulans made 84% of their cloaked evasions; the Kzinti captured and currently hold 2 Klingon planets (1010 and 1210), killed a previous crippled BATS in 1209, were scared off from BATS 1009 (they only had 4 ships; it was a total long shot there), are likely being repulsed from planet 0607 and BATS 0708 in approach battles, are about to recapture planet 1001, and are fighting Klingons over 1504 in a fairly even fight, but the Kzinti have way more replacement attrition units than the Klingons do.
The Feds recaptured planet 2106, and currently fighting over Klingon BATS 2014--the Klingon outgun the Feds significantly over the BATS (142 to 119, and the Klingons have a EW advantage for the -2 shift due to a lot of X ships), but the Feds have a lot more ships--if they can score 22.5% damage, they can easily cripple the BATS and then kill it in the second round; but they don't have an X-ship on the line, so they can only one shot the BATS on a 32.5%, which will be hard with the -2 shift.
Most of the Gorn fleet is fighting the Romulans over planet 4309; the Romulans have a compot, X-ship, and total fighters advantage; the Gorn have more ships. It remains ot be seen what the Gorn want to do there. It is possible he was mostly just pinning all the Romulans so they couldn't react to BATS 4110, which is about to be vaporized for free.
The Hydrans are fighting over planet 0519, where the Coalition out gun them, but the Hydrans can probably swap CUs and fighters for line X-ships for a while if they want.
Lots of killing to get through!
By Peter Bakija (Bakija) on Sunday, November 10, 2019 - 08:03 am: Edit |
AT32
First wave of combat is finished.
On the Hydran front, the Coalition kept control of planet 0519 and lost a couple province raiders.
On the Kzinti front, the Lyrans repelled the Kzinti from interior planet 0607 and BATS 0708, but inside of Klingon space, the Kzinti captured planets 1010 and 1210, and killed both BATS 1009 and 1209 (I misunderstood what was happening in 1009 in the previous report. Fog of war!); the Kzinti also recaptured planet 1001 and 1504.
On the Klingon/Fed front, the Feds took back planets 2106 and 2715, killed some province raiders, and crippled BATS 2014, but fled after one round as the 142 point Klingon line rolled a 6, dropping like 50 damage on the Feds, burning up all their fighters and causing them to self kill 3FF to avoid a likely miserable pursuit. They'll be back.
On the Romulan/Fed front, just a few small ships got killed due to failing cloaked evasions so far.
On the Gorn front, the Gorn killed some province raiders, and only fought one round over 4309--the Romulans had a significant compot advantage and a lot more fighters/PFs; the Gorn were just pinning all those ships so the feds could hit BATS 4110 with limited opposition.
At press time, the Coalition have lost 14 ships, 2BATS, 4PDU, 2 planets, and a lot of PFs. The Alliance have lost 12 ships.
Plenty more fights to go, including the potential Hydran SB assault.

AT32
In the current batch of combats, the Feds have taken back (liberated?) planet 2214 from the Lyrans; the Kzinti are fighting an attrition fight vs the Klingons over planet 1506 (presumably fighting till they run out of fighters?), the Feds vaporized Romulan BATS 4110, and are currently in the second round of approach over BATS 4010 (which isn't going super well for them, as the Romulans have a significant compot advantage, and have done more damage in both approach rounds).
Combat rages on!

On the Fed/Romulan front, the Feds killed some province raiders, killed Romulan BATS 4110, and were chased off from BATS 4010.
On the Gorn front, the Gorn killed some province raiders, and were chased off from planet 4309.

The turn is over!
In Hydran space, the vast majority of the Hydran fleet is sitting on planet 0416 with two piles of 8 ships each by the Old Colonies, and 2 modest reserves off map.
In Kzinti space, there are a dozen ships on planet 1001, plenty of ships defending 1401, and a giant pile of ships at planet 1105. They have 2 modest reserves off map.
The Feds have reclaimed most of their space; their most forward fleets include a significant fleet at planet 2106, a big fleet on planet 2214, and a giant pile of ships on planet 3509. They have 2 solid reserves in 2708 and 2 solid reserves in 3008. There are a dozen Klingons in range of Earth, but they have no way to actually threaten the mostly empty Fed capital.
The Gorn have plenty of ships in Capital 4403, lots of ships at planet 4705, 2 modest reserves in 4402.
Map at end of AT32:

(The two Kzinti captured planets in Klingon space have actually reverted to Klingon control, but I left those on there to be obvious looking).

Raids happened and moves are under way. The Coalition raided 3 Alliance provinces successfully, although one of them will probably end up being captured anyway. The Romulans took their 2 raiding FFHs off raiding duty and put them back on the map (there wasn't really anywhere good for them to raid anymore).
In Hydran space, most of the Coalition fleet started on planet 0519, and they moved to attack the Hydran forces by the Old Colonies (two stacks of 8 in each of 0117 and 0118), but otherwise avoided the bulk of the Hydran fleet on planet 0416. This will likely result in the Hydrans losing a couple FFs, retreating off map, the Coalition blocking off the Old Colonies, and then retrograding most of their ships back to 0617 (where if they moved there normally, the Hydran fleet could react on if they wanted). None of this will have much effect on anything, other than the Hydrans losing a little income and a couple CUs. The Hydrans have two light reserves off map which, I suspect, will fail to move.
In Kzinti space, the Coalition are attacking planet 1001 with a slightly advantaged force (and no more ships can get there at this point), planets 1802 and 1504 with battle lines against undefended, devastated planets; the bulk of the Coalition navy has attacked Kzinti held planet 1105; the Kzinti have, like, 100 ships there. The Coalition have sent more. The Kzinti have a couple of light reserves that could probably make the difference at planet 1001.
On the Fed/Klingon front, the Coalition mostly seem to be attacking planet 2214 and 2715 (which is undefended), and avoiding range of the Fed reserves so far.
In Gorn space, the Romulans have sent most of their available ships to planet 4705, where they out ship the Gorn about 2:1. The Gorn have a couple light reserves that are unlikely to make a difference there.
There doesn't seem to be a huge amount of combat happening this turn so far, and nothing real significant, although planet 1105 could potentially be bloody if the Kzinti are intent on keeping it and the Coalition are intent on pushing them off.

Why D6S instead of D5DX? Or did you answer this already?
By Peter Bakija (Bakija) on Wednesday, November 20, 2019 - 05:48 pm: Edit |
I made a D5DX in the spring. And there is a limit of only one per year as a substitution; I didn't want to convert one, as I wanted all 3D5X for battle group duty, although I probably could have.
The Coalition still have a significant X ship advantage in all theaters other than the Fed, and Alliance have very few X scouts (I think the Kzinti have a MCDX, maybe), so it isn't really an issue most of the time anyway.

Moves are done and reserves have been deployed!
In Hydran space, 2 fights (0117 and 0118), both of which will likely result in the Hydrans giving up a CU and retreating off map. Hydrant reserves didn't move.
In Kzinti space, 4 fights; 1001 is a close fight between two modest fleets; 1504 and 1802 are battle lines taking back devastated, undefended planets, and 1105 is two giant fleets battling over control of that planet. The Kzinti sent their two modest reserves (including a few X ships) to planet 1105.
In Fed space, only 2 fights; planet 2214 is a larger Coaltion force vs a significant pile of Feds on the neutral planet; planet 2715 is a bunch of Coalition taking back a devastated, undefended planet (likely more ships are there than necessary for retrograde purposes). The Coalition avoided fighting anywhere in range of Fed reserves, so they didn't move, and mostly just captured Fed space again.
In Gorn space, the Romulans recaptured the lower half of Gorn space, and then 1 fight; they have a big fleet fighting a half as big Gorn force over planet 4705. The Gorn sent their two modest reserves to 4705.
Only 9 battle hexes, but of those, two could be potentially bloody (1105 and 4705), depending on how much the Alliance feel like holding those hexes.
