Peter

Correct - no raids.... so basically a counter to my province attacks.

By Paul Howard (Raven) on Monday, January 20, 2020 - 05:37 am: Edit

Well, I'll post a fuller build schedule later....

…..but we finally (and just!!!!) got there.

I have completed the B10.... needed a 2 and I got it - so no wasted materials there....

(Only took 13 rolls and never rolled a 5!).

Fortunately with dice like that....I never started a 2nd one.

By William Jockusch (Verybadcat) on Tuesday, January 21, 2020 - 08:38 am: Edit

Nonsense!

Federation intelligence has definitively proven that this talk of a "battleship" is nothing but a propaganda campaign . . .

By Paul Howard (Raven) on Tuesday, January 21, 2020 - 02:51 pm: Edit

Chancellor Kang...

...I am pleased to report that disguising the B10 construction costs in the 'Gold Toilet' budget has fooled the Federation....although one Spy did report that a certain Federation Admiral who likes his luxuries exclaimed '65 Eps for a Gold toilet - I wouldn't use such cheap rubbish' :)

By Paul Howard (Raven) on Wednesday, January 22, 2020 - 04:29 pm: Edit

Coalition turn 15 has started.

Lyrans built their normal stuff, and a PDU, command point and paid for an expeditionary fleet of 4 ships.

46.5 Eps spent on repairs and balance is 27.4 Eps. 7 CPs available

The True Patriach is delighted to have repaired a former Kzitnti CV and have renamed it the 'True Believer'

Klingons finally finished the B10 and again normal builds have been built (including a Command Point).

85 Ep's was spent on repairs and balance is 6 Ep's. 5 CP's are available.

The Romulans have finally produced a hull to match the evil Federations CVA - with a CNV joining the fight.

28 Ep's was spent on repairs and balance is 0.1 Ep's. 8 CP's are available.

Note - it looks like I messed up with the Romulans and spent 15 Ep's on 2 SP's (after correcting the error on 3 SKE's for 10.5 Eps)

So another FAL and SK is repaired and balance is 0.6 Ep's.

By William Jockusch (Verybadcat) on Thursday, January 23, 2020 - 09:13 am: Edit

Another 160EP repair turn! Probably enough to support continued slow forward progress for the Coalition. Fortunately for the Alliance, starting next turn that will be almost half the Coalition budget.

By Paul Howard (Raven) on Tuesday, January 28, 2020 - 05:07 pm: Edit

Coalition turn 15 movement has completed.

In Hydran space, 3 battles are occurring with larger Coalition forces attacking smaller Hydran forces, but 2 large Hydran reserves can certainly alter 1 or 2 battles.

In Kzinti space, the Imposters forces will be evicted from 1802.

Alliance reserves can make an awful mess of a lot of the attacks, but my turn 14 blunders hopefully have been repaired.

In Federation spaces - battle rage across the bulk of it's reduced territories.

(I did want to attack 2211, but rescuing Coalition forcs in the north took far too many ships to attempt a proper attack!).

In Gorn space - 2 SB's and 3 other minor bases/planets are under attack - I would have loved to attack the Gorn capital hexes, but again, not enough ships to really do anything).

By William Jockusch (Verybadcat) on Tuesday, January 28, 2020 - 09:25 pm: Edit

Reserves have been dispatched. The Feds will lose a minor planet where I reacted too much out. The Gorns were on the verge of losing a minor planet, but I decided instead to save it and leave an interesting situation at their SB near the ISC.

The Hydran front is interesting. Their main fleet started the turn out of supply. It is in supply as of the end of op move, which cuts down on their reserve options. Paul could cut it off before combat by doing a forward battle first. But if he does, it can "retreat" adjacent to Hydrax!

The Feds are likely to get more province EP on their turn than they did last turn. Had they kept all their forces back, they would have kept the planet while getting less province income. But they might have been able to get the best of both.

By William Jockusch (Verybadcat) on Saturday, February 01, 2020 - 01:04 pm: Edit

Coalition turn 15 combat is well underway. The most interesting battle so far was the Gorn SB near the ISC. Paul came in with 90 compot against 131. He got a good roll, so the Gorns needed to take 4 SIDS to preserve compot, which they did. At that point, he was unlikely to kill the SB, so he wisely retreated. The upshot is that the Gorns took much more expensive damage than the Romulans did, even though they had the SB on their side.

The Feds lost planet 2509, which was expected, and were hurt by a Klingon retreat onto a space battle that previously favored them. But they are also doing some tricky retreats of their own. Thus far, this has netted them a disputed province and full supply to the 3rd fleet SB.

By Paul Howard (Raven) on Saturday, February 01, 2020 - 02:40 pm: Edit

To add to what William has said :-

Hydran Front

3 Battle done, Coalition lost a D5 and SC, Hydrans lost a KN and CR, but do have 2 fleets out of supply - which is about 60% of Hydran forces, but they do have the FCR Supply Tug in the Main fleet hex (looks like I need to update retreat to 218)

Kzinti - messed up in blocking the Barony so the Kzinti were able to retreat into supply, but 1802 was recaptured and they lost a FF.

Gorn Front - pretty much as William has reported, three battles to go.

Federation Front - yep, weird event and I allowed 2211 to be supplied by the main grid

Should have done 2409 first and then 2509 (numbers wouldn't have allowed the Feds to retreat to 2509 - but I didn't work that out at the time).

Elsewhere, 2509 has fallen (2 PDU's and the captured FH was killed) and 2705 has lost both of it's PDU's - but the Klingons may end up out of supply (again should have done this earlier, but the problem was it might have ended up out of supply still - and it started out of supply, so the PDU's would have lived!).

Several interesting battles still to be done!

By William Jockusch (Verybadcat) on Sunday, February 02, 2020 - 07:15 am: Edit

Combat continues. Two minors in the Northern Federation lost their PDUs but remain in Fed hands and undevastated. One Klingon fleet is out of supply. Another managed to escape that fate because Paul killed the PDUs, thereby allowing his supply line to pass through the planet's hex if the Fed fleet retreated.

A small Gorn fleet got even smaller in a BATS defense where three DD were directed on, and the BATS still fell.

By Paul Howard (Raven) on Sunday, February 02, 2020 - 08:56 am: Edit

Combat for C15 is finshed.

First my normal comment on dice.... they started bad (Hydrans HR's seem to have a charmed life!) for me - went good and very good on some combat dice and then William rolled well at the end.

Perusit - 100% success for William and 2 failed for me (although both were unlikely).

Offensive Cloak - none failed, but only 1 success and 5 N/A I think.

Dead for the turn

Lyran - DW, SC
Klingon - 3 x D5, 3 x F5
Romulan - SPF, SP, SK and 2 x BH (William got lucky on a pursuit - again!), K4

Kzinti - FF
Hydran - KN, CR
Federation FH(Capt), CVS*, ECL, NCL, FFE, 3 x FF, 6 x PDU
Gorn - HD, 3 x DD, BATS

* - Yes, a Fed CVS died - William underestimated the chance of it dying after crippling both escorts - and I got fairly lucky on the dice (5+ was needed, BIR went up 1 and I rolled a 5) - WIlliam killed the offending Mini-Mauler in exchange. It did mean the 2 PDU's lived.

3 Alliance Devastated Planets were re-captured and 1 new planet was captured.

A small Klingon force does remain out of supply (with 3 cripples in it) and a couple of Kzinti ships are out of supply (but can be Fed supported).

Retrograde to be done.

By William Jockusch (Verybadcat) on Sunday, February 02, 2020 - 09:06 am: Edit

A painful turn for the Alliance fleets as they lost 15 ships to 13 for the Coalition, and the Fed CVS to boot.

On the bright side, both the Feds and Gorns have big repair turns coming up, which bodes well for Alliance turn 15.

By Paul Howard (Raven) on Tuesday, February 04, 2020 - 05:52 pm: Edit

Retro and SM have been done.

In the West, Coalition forces have formed defensive groups on the previously 'liberated' former Federation planets and in the East, Coalition forces remain deep deployed into Federation and Gorn space.

Lyran Reserves have been set up in 617 (which includes the new B10), 1401 and 1509 (which was a unused Lyran reserve from turn 14).

Klingon reserves have been set up in 2106, 1910, 2214 and 2612.

Romulan reserves are in 4015, 4112 and 4510.

20 Lyran Eps are received by the Romulans and the Klingons Field Repair 2 x D6D (both are fairly vunerable) and the Romulans repair a SPB and SKE.

By William Jockusch (Verybadcat) on Tuesday, February 04, 2020 - 08:10 pm: Edit

If nothing else, the Hydran return to the map has unquestionably succeeded in drawing the attention of the Coalition away from the Feds.

Federation intelligence remains firm in its assessment that this "battleship" does not actually exist.

......….nope, sorry, it is a moon, my mistake.

Multiple interesting decisions this turn. This is turn #4 for the old colonies shipyard. The Hydrans chose to skip some repairs and build a Ranger. Their remaining repair debt is only 7.5EP which is obviously not much. They are likely to skip next turn's Lancer.

The Feds could either do a CVS conversion and build 4-5 more NCL or do a CVA conversion. They decided to do the CVA conversion. In general, I think they need quantity. But the CVA is just too valuable to pass up. It is also useful because a battle line of 7FF plus a CVA group is actually not bad.

The Gorns had so many repairs that they couldn't afford to both build a BC and convert a carrier. They have been building a carrier every turn. But with only four carriers at the start of this turn, they are still desperately short. They chose to convert the carrier.

By Richard Eitzen (Rbeitzen) on Wednesday, February 05, 2020 - 09:42 pm: Edit

Are the Hydrans able to build a Heavy Lancer-V next turn in this game? I highly recommend it if so.

By Paul Howard (Raven) on Thursday, February 06, 2020 - 02:18 am: Edit

Finally - the repair bill has started to hurt the Feds!

Richard - nope, just 2010 ships.

By Richard Eitzen (Rbeitzen) on Thursday, February 06, 2020 - 02:55 pm: Edit

The Hydrans do get 1.5 free fighter factors a turn with the old colonies, for use (only) with ships built there.

By Paul Howard (Raven) on Thursday, February 06, 2020 - 03:58 pm: Edit

Yep - so it made the RN nice and cheap!!

We had a discussion last turn to see what ships they can be used on - and the CV can use them - as long as it's a RN being subbed - you can't convert an existing RN at the SB (as only the OCY can use the Fighters).
