Well, Coalition turn 2 Combat has ended and as expected, 2 SB's was destroyed.

Losses for the turn

Lyrans BC, 2 x CC plus 2 CP's used
Klingons C8, D6M plus 1 CP used and 2.4 Eps of Drones

Kzinti 2 x SB, , CLE, CL, EFF and 4 x BATS and 4 x PDU's (2 Minors captured)

1506 was also captured.

Both sides have a modest pile of cripples (Coalition more so, 20 Lyran, 13 Klingon and 11 Kzinti).

With the CP's being used - and a mass of CC's and D7C's being used by the Coalition, the Compot differential was not that large - and I didn't really have much depth available to continue the fight once a group or two had been part crippled.

Killing the C8 was at least nice - and 1401 is undamaged.

By William Jockusch (Verybadcat) on Saturday, October 24, 2020 - 08:42 pm: Edit

Turn is done. Lyrans transfer 10EP to the Klingons. They also begin MB setups at 1307 and at Klinshai.

As Paul mentioned, crips are light on both sides. Losing five big ships is annoying. Unclear whether or not it is acceptable in the context of killing 2SB.

I had been expecting a cash crunch next turn. But in light of the small number of crips, it now looks unlikely.

Alliance turn 2 is nearly done.

Kzinti built

CVS, 2 x MEC, 2 x DD, 3 x FF plus 4 x PDU and a Command Point.

4 x BC>CC's and a CL>CLE conversion was also done.

Balance of 6.5 Ep's.

Single attack to liberate 1001.

2 Reserves can get there and 2 Reserves can't.

With modest Coalition forces 2 hexes from the Old Front line (covering lots of soft tatgets I could have reached), I felt keeping them away from 1401 made sense....

By Paul Howard (Raven) on Tuesday, October 27, 2020 - 05:43 pm: Edit

And A2 is over.

1001 - Single round fight - DW and SF directed on and died - Coalition ran (no idea why - they still had 1 Klingon fighter left).

Retro and SM see's main forces in
1001 - Defended by 3 ships
1202 - 12 Ships (15 Eq)
1502 - 11 Ship (13 Eq)
1704 - 2 Ships (plus 6 Marquis ships)
5 Kzinti ships are dotted in Kzinti space (2 Guarding BATS and 3 protecting provinces)
1401 - The Rest - 60 equivalents including 2 reserves.

About 120 Equivalents of Coalition can visit 1401...so C3 should be interesting.

I hadn't anticipated starting a B10. But the low repair expenses changed my mind.

By William Jockusch (Verybadcat) on Friday, October 30, 2020 - 07:00 pm: Edit

Coalition turn 3 is done. It was pretty quiet as a lot of Coalition forces were transferring to the Hydran front. We did capture planet 1504 and destroy BATS 1605. Each side lost 2 ships. The Kzinti core region is untouched, as no Coalition forces have come within 2 hexes of Kzintai.

By Paul Howard (Raven) on Saturday, October 31, 2020 - 05:03 am: Edit

Yes - it looks like the poor Hydrans will be getting both barrels...

By Paul Howard (Raven) on Saturday, October 31, 2020 - 05:39 pm: Edit

Alliance turn 3 has started

Kzinti built
CVS, TGC, 3 x MEC, 6 x FF and SF, plus a Command Point and repaired 14.5 Eps of ships (just a brave crippled EFF left to repair.... which was left holding a province and survived!)

Hydrans built
TG, LN, DE, 5 x CU, HN and 4 PDU's plus a Command Points.

3 x LN's was also converted to DE's.

2 HN's were not built to squeeze the 4th PDU in.... I am guessing we will have visitors very soon!

Operational movement on the Hydran front has been done.

4 large pinning battles around 413 are taking place - plus a large battle in 413.

212 is also under attack.

I did get the chance to raid the 411 SB..... which has 5 FRD's in it - but choose getting back to 617 was more important.

Very few Hydran forces (3 Ships plus the OC) are available for reserve forces.

Kzinti front to be done tomorrow.

By Paul Howard (Raven) on Sunday, November 01, 2020 - 12:43 pm: Edit

Op moves completed.

Alliance are counterattacking and 5 Lyran BATS and a SB are under attack (probably will be saved by the Klingon reserve) and 1 Klingon BATS and minor planet.

Brave citizens of 1506 have also been able to overthrough their evil overloads - the E4 fled when it heard of an approaching Kzinti force.

All 3 Lyran reserves are pinned and 2 Klingon reserves are out of range.

By Paul Howard (Raven) on Sunday, November 01, 2020 - 04:25 pm: Edit

About half way through combats...

Hydrans under estimated what a Lyran pursuit force would be and lost a crippled RN (could have overcrippled easily by 3 and lost a crippled HN instead ....) - but the target was killed.

Hydran Front
Lyrans have lost a BATs (413) and a CC
Hydrnas have lost a LM and RN

Hydrans have afew cripples - Lyrans a huge bunch (there may be a design flaw in Lyran CC's - they easily get crippled).

BATS 212 will also die.....

Kzint Front
Lyrans have lost 2 BATS (502 and 504), CL and 2 x FF (1 FF was very lucky and lived).

Kzinti have lost a FF but do have more cripples than the Lyrans.

Kzinti retreated instead of persuing twice to ensure the bulk of forces can get back into position around 1401 (and cripples to Barony).

The feint on 1707 worked.

By Paul Howard (Raven) on Monday, November 02, 2020 - 02:53 pm: Edit

And A3 combat is over.

Speed clearly isn't good in Alliance ships - 2 failed Alliance persuits (both 6's) and 3 successful Coalition persuits see a RN, HR and KN die and crippled Lyran DW and FF live - so the Coalition ended the turn pretty well......

Hydran Front
Lyrans have lost 2 BATs (212 and 413) plus a CC, CW and DW
Hydrnas have lost a LM, 2 x RN, HR, KN and HN

Kzint Front
Lyrans have lost 2 BATS (502 and 504), CL and 2 x FF
Kzinti have lost a FF.

No Klingons ships died.

Losing so many Hydran Fighter carrying ships, so early, is not good.

By Paul Howard (Raven) on Wednesday, November 04, 2020 - 02:24 pm: Edit

And Alliance turn 3 is over.

The Kzinti leave strong fleets in 1001, 1202 and 1504 and the a strong home fleet guards 1401.

Two modest reserves are set up - both led by a Battle Tug.

Hydrans pull back and have weak forces defending 215 and 716 - and the bulk of Hydran forces are in 617.

1 weak reserve is in 617 (with the Expeditionary supply tug) and a LN is in the Old Colonies - with he Old Colonies Squadron in a second reserve.

Kzinti spent 2.4 Eps on Drones - Hydrans spend 4 EP's to Field repair a Carrier Tug.

and we are onto turn 4!

I noticed the Klingons can build another set of carrier pods. So they did.

Due to the lack of battles during Alliance turn 2 and Coalition turn 3, repair expenses are roughly zero. The Lyrans have a bunch of crips from Alliance turn 3, but none are on repair sites.

Heavy repair expenses are expected on Coalition turn 5.

By Paul Howard (Raven) on Thursday, November 05, 2020 - 02:12 am: Edit

Lack of Battles?

I did my best :)

At least there is close to 40 Coalition ships not being repaired.

I am predicting a tough turn for the Hydrans :(

Give those low-down, dirty-rotten, methane-breathing, trashcan-looking Hydrans what for! :)

By William Jockusch (Verybadcat) on Saturday, November 07, 2020 - 09:44 am: Edit

Coalition turn 4 op movement is done. All on-map Hydran hardpoints are under attack. Hydrax will not fall. The Hydrans can save one more position with a reserve.

On the Kzinti front, it's a Sitzkrieg, with only a few minor battles.

By Paul Howard (Raven) on Saturday, November 07, 2020 - 12:57 pm: Edit

Not sure if the Coalition Galactic map goes as far north as 1401…..

….still no visitors!

1304 will fall (again) - as will 1805.

In the south - will save 416.

2 or 3 SB's will die :(

By Paul Howard (Raven) on Saturday, November 07, 2020 - 04:22 pm: Edit

Well, lucky escape of the turn goes to the Lyrans attack on 416.

Williams attacking force of 3 x FF and 2 x cc, cw, 2 x dw was initially facing just the 2 PDU's - and the Old Colonies Reserve Fleet (released as 617 is under attack) arrived.

I was expecting to inflict some serious damage on the Lyrans - and BIR dropped 2 both in the main battle and in the pursuit battle (at least I did catch the Lyrans in the first successful Alliance pursuit of the game) - but only rolling a 1 and 4 in the two battles dropped the expected damage even more - thereby allowing the Lyrans to escape and just lose a cc, cw and a FF was crippled.

All but 1 BATS's battle has been done (all dead for a few crippled) and 1017 was killed for a bunch of cripples. 718 has also fallen - with CR guarding it being direct crippled.

617 attack is now being done.
