The current plan is...

Today I will finish revising CO and see what else I can get done.

Tomorrow I will work with the staff on TacOps and the four warbook updates.

Sunday they will go home and I will take a day or two off.

Next week I will move on to non-F&E stuff but I will monitor and process F&E Warbook reports as they arrive. From the time here into the fall, the staff will continue to review the old Q&A files; the staff and the guys who went to Stratcon will continue to submit reports and such.

Sometime just after 1 July I will give Jean PO and she will start Demonizing it. It is possible that she will send me a quick report on systemic issues and I will do a new PO for her to Demonize. She will give it back in late July, I will fix her marks and anything from the staff, stratconists, and players, and the PDF21 edition will release somewhere during the first week of August. (We have to fit it around Shapeways.)

Sometime during July I will do the systemic updates to CO so that I can give it to Jean around 1 August. Repeat the PO process and COPDF21 should release the first week of Sept.

Sometime in early Sept I will give Jean TacOps and she will do her thing and TOPDF21 will release in the first week of Oct, hard copy a month later.

I will give her AO in early October and (process) AOPDF21 will release the first week of November.

I will give her SO in early November and (process) SOPDF21 will release in the first week of Dec.

Civil Wars will show up sometime early next year.

The staff can only chew threw scenarios at a certain rate and Jean can at best do Demonized book once a month.

(302.563) Support Echelon: This includes ships outside of the Battle Force but contributing to its combat potential [such as drone ships using (309.0), carriers using (501.4), and PFTs using (502.41)]. These ships can be attacked by Directed Damage, but it takes three actual Damage Points for each effective point rather than the usual ratio of two actual to one effective point in (302.52) and maulers do not have the (308.4) effect. Bases and PDUs cannot be attacked by this rule. If the carrier or PFT (allowed in Fighter Operations ) is escorted, the Directed Damage Attack must use the appropriate procedure, i.e., GEDS (308.1), attacking the smallest escort, or attacking the entire group.

Stratcon was a huge success. Four older F&E rulebooks are updated. Next week I will finish the Stage 5 revisions and send them to the staff and to those who were at Stratcon. We will release an updated 2021 PO about 1 Aug and a 2021 CO about 1 Sept. The other two will be later this year.

Thanks to everyone for all the hard work before, during, and after Stratcon!!!

I wish my original theory (four revised books going on line Monday) could happen but it's not possible. There are still reports coming in, the staff needs months to fix 617 and 675, and Jean can proofread at best one book a month. But there is so little actual work left to be done that (as long as I don't get distracted and forget) the books should show up on a predictable schedule.

YAY!!!!

We have F&E Planetary Ops first in line for updated PDFs. It should appear "around" August 1st. I have an hour or two of work to do on it today -- then it will go to the staff for a week, -- then to Jean.

Combined Ops should be ready for PDF update release about September 1st. (Staff this week, Jean a month from now). TacOps should appear Oct 1st. Advanced and Strategic Ops will be Nov 1st and Dec 1st but I'm not sure which will be which. (Chuck and Ryan can let me know if 617 or 675 will be done first.)

StratCon guys (not on staff) send me an email so I know where to email your PDFs.

Joe Stevenson, Peter DiMitri, Ted Fay, Ryan Pennock: please drop me an email so I can send you updated PDFs.

UPDATED PLAN
The "original plan" for this project is a fleeting memory, but the last version of the plan has now changed.
The last version was to get PO-21 out the door this week as a PDF (still going to happen) and then do the hard copy on 4 Feb 2022.
Leanna, however, said she would not sell outdated books to people buying hard copies and would start using the PDF copy to fill mail orders immediately.
So that effectively cancels "stage 8" which was to have updated hard copies released in Feb, March, April, and May of 2022. The PDF copies released in Aug, Sept, Nov, and Dec of 2021 will be THE hard copies.
Seriously, after what has been done to these books they are 900% better than the 2003 versions and are 99.8% of what an updated version in 2022 would be.
So once we release these four books (last one in early Dec) we will move on to update BS and FO and the others. We may revisit PO/CO/AO/SO in a few years.

My shopping cart will be ready - thank you!

I got an email 8/6 6PM from DriveThru that the PO PDF was available for $9.95. I put in the order and purchased it and downloaded it today. Everything worked fine. The PDF looks very nice, the cover in particular. The PDF is snappy to flip through, cover included. Nice work!

Yup, Got the new book, reading now.I just wish we had one big book with everything all in one like the SFB book

By Ryan Opel (Feast) on Monday, August 09, 2021 - 10:51 am: Edit

Charles,

We're working on it. Got other books that need updating first.

By Steve Cole (Stevecole) on Monday, August 09, 2021 - 12:39 pm: Edit

There are ten F&E books. One updated, three being updated, four in various earlier editions going back a decade or more, two that haven't been printed yet. We'll get them all done sometime but not this year.

And one (4D) ring (binder) to rule them all :)

By Alex Chobot (Alendrel) on Monday, August 09, 2021 - 06:00 pm: Edit

I have mine split into two binders, one rules and one annexes.

By Paul Howard (Raven) on Monday, August 23, 2021 - 08:02 am: Edit

No idea if this is relevant or not...

…. but for the Printed Rules versions, how feasible is it to have different 'hole' versions?

The 2010 Rule book for example has X numbers of holes (3 or 4?) - and it's nearly impossible to get how of a ring binder what that number of holes in the UK (i.e. if it's 4 holes the UK sells 3 hole binders..... if it's 3 holes, you can only buy 4 hole ones!).

I don't know if the rest of the world will have the same problems as the UK - and I fully understand, if 900 copies are sold in the US and just 100 in the Rest of the World, it may not be commercially relevant. :)

(My 2010 correct ring number binder is looking very battered now.....)
